Vetta Sanders Thompson studies racial identity, psychosocial implications of race and ethnicity in health communications, and health and mental health disparities. A licensed clinical psycholo-gist, she teaches applied behavior therapy and human diversity.

He is the creator of the

account, or IDA, a matched

savings program that is

proving to help poor people

raise their standard of living.

His work has influenced policy

Taiwan, Canada, and other

countries. He was recently

named to the 2010 TIME 100,

the magazine’s annual list

of the 100 most influential

people in the world.

Research Center, a Center

for Disease Control and

and disseminating evidence-

based interventions.

Gautam Yadama’s research

focuses on understanding the

livelihoods of natural resource-

dependent poor and ensuing

strategies to achieve greater

sustainability. In collabora-

tion with Brown School’s

Social Systems Design Lab

and Foundation for Ecological

Security, he is examining

human and natural resource

interactions in India. Working

with colleagues in the School

of Engineering, he is studying

the harmful effects of biomass

combustion in poor house-

holds in India. In China, he is

studying micro-institutional

mechanisms for provisioning

and managing quasi-public

goods in rural communities.
