Noncredit to Credit transitions
ACCT For 2010-11 we saw increases in attendance for the college tours & in # SCE students completing CCCApply
Key ACCT services appear to be:
- college tours - CCCApply
- “hand-hold” through college Reg process
- in HS lab follow up for HS w/ 20 or less credits
Barriers for Noncredit Students to transition to Credit Academic knowledge & skills
- lack of basic skills preparation results in inability to master newskills
- minimal computer skills- minimal study skills
College knowledge- online application -college terms- securing financial aid - lack of career awareness- inability to maneuver the college system- 1st time being independent; no reminder of deadlines, etc.
Personal readiness- time mgmt skills - goal setting- lack of confidence - FEAR - child care issues- family & work conflicts / lack of support
