Purpose of Tyco Electronics Material Disclosure

Regulatory Requirements: Tyco Electronics, like other companies in the electronics industry, is following the European Union (EU) directive on Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) in products, and other similar environmental regulations.

Full Material Disclosure: Due to these environmental regulations, many customers are asking for full material disclosure (that is, to reveal all materials that are present in a Tyco Electronics product purchased by them, including restricted and reportable substances and recycled content). Tyco Electronics is fully committed to satisfying these mandates from our customers and OEMs. This means that Tyco Electronics must, in turn, collect full material disclosure from our suppliers on products we purchase. Providing such disclosures can also circumvent future requests if the threshold limits or substances in the regulations change (since we will know the composition of the products). Our mutual business success and sales growth depend on a cooperative effort across our entire Supply Chain.

Compliance Connect Tool: Tyco Electronics is using MatrixOne’s Compliance ConnectTM, reporting Tool (a Microsoft Excel-based data collection spreadsheet) to collect full material disclosure from our suppliers. Compliance ConnectTM is becoming a widely-used industry solution for collecting material disclosure information to meet this customer requirement.

Part data: It is imperative that each of our suppliers must provide all the information requested on the parts currently being sold to Tyco Electronics or pending sourcing decision. Your certification of and responsibility for the accuracy of the data you provide is critical.

Ensuring Accuracy: You will help ensure the accuracy of your data by adhering to the reporting structure of the Compliance ConnectTM Tool, which we will explain in this document.

Step 2c. Check the “Check Part Tree”button at any time to confirm that all part tree data entered so far is valid.

Step 2a. Complete a row for each saleable part (i.e. each part you sell to Tyco).

Step 2b. Add a sub-part row for each saleable part. Enter each part on its own line at the appropriate sub-part level.

Step 2d. Repeat for all saleable parts.

Note: If you have a saleable or sub-part with both materials and subpart(s), make a “container” subpart for the material(s). The suggested sub part name is the parent name plus an identifier, as in A-72 (paint).

• Enter information for all top level parts in the Saleable Parts Field. • If the part is not an assembly, proceed to the Materials tab (Step #3).

• Provide the complete BOM in the Sub-Part fields to the right on the spreadsheet. Part information should be staggered in the Part Tree Tab. Parts for each descending assembly level should begin beneath its parent assembly.

• Parts for each descending assembly level should begin one row beneath its parent assembly.

• Please, do not input data in grayed cells throughout the spreadsheet. It is recommend that you work from left to right across the spreadsheet.

• Click the "Overall Help" button on the Part Tree tab for detailed instructions.

• Use the "Check Part Tree Data" button to verify that all required information has been entered and in the proper format.

• Correct and check data input until it passes the data check.

Suppliers will fully define the part structure for the supplied parts to Tyco, showing the parts at each assembly level within a part tree or BOM structure.

Step 3a. Add a row for each custom material you need to define.

Step 3b. Add substance rows for each substance in each material. When you click in the name or CAS number cell, a list of substances will appear. Enter one substance per line.

Step 3c. Check the “Check Materials Data” button to confirm that all data entered so far is valid.

Step 3d. Repeat adding materials.

Completing the CC Spreadsheet – The Materials Sheet

Here you will provide information about the materials used in the parts reported in the “Part Tree tab.” Materials here will be used during next step (Part Detail tab).

• Begin by entering the name of each material you wish to create.• Complete the materials information by providing the name and concentration of

substances found in the material.• In the “Substance” section select from the drop down list of substances and

CAS numbers provided. • For any proprietary items, use the 'miscellaneous/system' selection from the

CAS list. This should only include substances that are not on the 'list of concern’.

• Columns O to U (“Substance” section) request specific information about restricted substances. Concentration of the restricted substances are entered there.

• The sum of the substance concentrations reported for each material must equal 100% or 1 million parts per million. However, declarations allow up to 20% of the material to be undisclosed for proprietary considerations.

• Alloy composition, substance content, post industrial and post-consumer recycled content should be verified with the material manufacturer.

• Click the "Overall Help" button on the Material tab for detailed instructions.• Use the "Check Materials Data" button to verify that all required information has

been entered correctly.• Correct and check data input until it passes the data check.• If at any time you make any changes to the data you will need to click on the

“Check Materials Data” button again before proceeding to the next tab.

Step 4a. Add a Part row for each part. When you click in a Part Number, Revision, or Data cell, a list with the remaining leaf parts will appear. Enter one part per line.

Step 4b. Add Material rows for each material in part. When you click in a material name, Tradename, or Manufacturer Name cell, a list of Custom/Standard Materials will appear. Enter one material per line.

Step 4c. Repeat adding parts until all lowest level (leaf) parts on Part Tree tab are reported.

Step 4d. Check the “Check Part Detail Data” button to confirm that all data entered so far is valid.

Step 4e. Click the “Certify and Export” button to perform final validation checks, answer the certification question and export file to be sent to Tyco.

• Click on the first cell under Part Number and select a bottom level part from the list.

• Enter the part attributes (column headings have red text) on the first line.• On subsequent lines, enter information regarding the material(s) comprising that

part (green headings). • For each material in a part, click the cell under “Material Name” and select a

material from the list. • The Material Name list is generated by material record entries created in the

Material tab.• Click the "Overall Help" button on the Part Tree tab for detailed instructions.• Use the "Check Part Detail Data" button to verify that all required information has

been entered and is in the proper format. • After the data has been verified in the Part Detail tab, the Certify and Export button

will become enabled. Certify and Export the data only if there are no substances of concern as shown in the next tab.

The Part Detail tab requires suppliers to identify the material that each bottom level part is made from. This is where you correlate the “Part Tree tab”information to the actual materials that comprise the part. Thus, you are reporting which materials are in what parts. To recap:

Step 5a. Add a Part row for each Saleable part that contains any substances of concern (SoC) in amounts exceeding the allowable thresholds. When you click in a Part Number, Revision, or Data cell, a list with the remaining SoC parts will appear. Enter one part per line.

Step 5b. Add Compliant Part availability information.

Step 5c. Repeat adding parts until all Substance of Concern parts are reported.

Step 5d. Check the “Check Substance of Concern Data” button to confirm that all data entered so far is valid.

Step 5e. Click the “Certify and Export” button to perform final validation checks, answer the certification question and export file to be sent to Tyco.

Completing the CC Spreadsheet – Substance of Concern Sheet

This is where you provide Tyco information about parts that contain restricted substances and your roadmap to eliminate them or achieve RoHS compliance. If no RoHS substance of concern (SoC) is reported in the composition of the component, you do not need to complete this tab.

If any of the parts contain materials that have substance concentrations exceeding:• 0.01% Cadmium• 0.1% Lead, Hexavalent Chromium, Mercury, PBBs or PBDEsthey will automatically populate here.1. Begin by clicking on the first cell under Part Number. It will pre-

populate the spreadsheet with the parts that contain substances of concern.

2. Enter the data requested as shown in the SoC tab description table.3. You are first asked for the date that a ROHS compliant sample, and

then a full-scale compliant part, will be available. If the part is already compliant because it is exempt (i.e. high temperature lead, mercury in lamps below 0.005 g, etc.), then insert the date you completed the form. If you have an alternate part that is RoHS compliant, and it is currently available, then also insert the date you completed the form.

4. You are then asked whether there will be a part number changefor the RoHS part. If the answer is “yes”, then you are asked for the new part number. If the answer is “no”, then you are asked what date the RoHS compliant part will be available.

5. Click the "Overall Help" button on the Substance of Concern Detail tab for detailed instructions.

6. Use the "Check Substance of Concern Detail Data" button to verify that all required information has been entered correctly.

7. Correct and check data input until it passes the data check.8. After the data has been verified in Substance of Concern Detail

tab, the Certify and Export button will become enabled.9. If at any time you make any changes to the data you will need to

click on the “Check Substance of Concern Detail Data” button again before proceeding to the next action.

Assembly Level – Assembly levels are used to identify the location of detailcomponents within the parts structure in a bill of materials. Saleable parts areassembly level 1. The components (including subassemblies) comprising the

saleable part are assembly level 2, and so forth.

Basic Substances - these include the material’s main ingredients (e.g. basic polymer, filler material, etc.), and are not part of the substances identified as Declarable Substances.

Bill of Materials - The BOM (Bill of Material) is that list of the components and/ or materials, further broken down to the Homogeneous Material level, that are present in the end product as delivered to the customer. The BOM, as used in this standard, includes the Engineering BOM (EBOM), also called a parts list, typically from a drawing or data base, and other materials that may be included in the end product as it is manufactured, e.g. contact lubricants, etc. If a material is used during the production of the product, but it is not in the product as it is delivered to the customer, that material is not a constituent of the BOM, e.g. a lubricant that is washed off during the Tyco Electronics manufacturing process. The BOM is for product only and does not include packaging.

Bottom level part – A part that is not an assembly, that is, a single piece item that is not comprised of multiple parts. Bottom level parts are also referred to as lowest-level or leaf-level parts.

Chemical Abstractive Service (CAS) Numbers – CAS numbers are a unique identifier assigned to substances to eliminate the confusion and ambiguity of having more that one scientific or common name for a substance. Known organic and inorganic substances have CAS Numbers.

Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) – Chemicals sometimes used as propellants in aerosol cans or as refrigerants.

Component – A component is a complete assembly or a part within an assembly that builds a complete product. A system, assembly, sub-assembly, sub-component, semi-component or part are synonyms for a component.

Confidential Substances - Confidential Substances are substances which are determined by the supplier to be proprietary to that supplier. Confidential Substances can not be more than 20% by weight of the homogeneous material. Confidential Substances can not be Declarable Substance.

Declarable Substances - Substances at the homogeneous level which must be declared (including their CAS numbers) according to those shown on Tyco Electronics Form #5081-2. Those substances listed on Form #5081-2 are those noted in JIG Material Composition Declaration Guide, VDA List of Declarable Materials 232-101 and others deemed of interest by Tyco Electronics.

Homogeneous material - A material, in the form found in the end product, which cannot be mechanically disjointed into different materials: homogeneous materials are materials of uniform composition throughout. Ceramics, glass, metals, alloys, plating, board, resins, coatings are examples. The term “mechanically disjointed” means that the materials can be, in principle, separated by mechanical actions such as unscrewing, cutting, crushing, grinding and abrasive processes.

Examples of Homogeneous Materials:A component that is overmolded would be considered two separate homogeneous materials and reported as such, e.g. plastic overmolding on a lead frame.A mixture, such as a base resin with glass, flame retardant and/ or colorant that is added to provide an integral function, performance and/ or appearance enhancement, shall be reported as one homogeneous material, provided that in the end product the material can not be “mechanically disjointed”. However, each substance must be reviewed and included in the disclosure for the “homogenous material”. An electrical component such as a resistor would consist of a variety of homogeneous materials that could include ceramic, the lead frame alloy, and the plating applied to the lead frame. Each of these must be treated as a homogeneous material and evaluated for controlled substances.An adhesive which may be purchased as two separate compounds will be reported as its final form in the end product, e.g. a cured system.

IMDS – The International Material Data System – an automotive industry part content data collection system used by many OEMs.

Intentionally added - Deliberate use of a substance in the formulation of a material/ component where its continued presence is desired to provide a specific characteristic, appearance or quality. If a material is intentionally added at any point in the supply chain it must consistently be treated as intentionally added through the final product assembly. Also any catalysts or processing aids that are introduced during the manufacturing process and remain as part of product are always considered intentional additions.

Macros – An action or set of actions you can use to automate tasks.

Materials - Chemical compounds and formulated substances that are supplied for the production of components. Examples of materials are: plastics/ resins, metals, coatings, paint, adhesives, etc.

Material Declaration - A material declaration is intended to disclose the substances that are present in a Tyco Electronics product. The requirements for which type of materials/ substances that are included in a Material Declaration are often dictated by a customer. Therefore, the actual Material Declaration may have various formats and threshold limits, as well as include all or sub-sets of the Substances found on Form #5081-2.

Pre-Consumer Recyclate– The portion of a material's weight that has been recovered from or otherwise diverted from the industrial waste stream for the purpose of recycling. Pre-consumer recyclate does not include home scrap. Pre-consumer recyclate is also referred to as rework, post-industrial materials, and post-process materials. Pre-consumer recyclate is material recovered from the waste stream of a manufacturing process for use in a different manufacturing process or has been recycled/recovered by a third party and returned to the manufacturing process.

Post-Consumer Recyclate – The portion of a material's weight that comes from products or materials that have served their intended end uses and have been recovered from or otherwise diverted from the consumer waste stream for the purpose of recycling. An example is recycled beverage containers that are sources of material for auto parts.

RDO/ECO (Responsible Design Owner/ Engineering Control Organization) –The engineering organization that has design control of a product, the RDO/ECO has the authority to maintain and change the engineering information, drawings, specifications, etc., controlling a specific product.

Recording of Substance and Product Information in Systems –A. Information in the Compliance Central system will be recorded for a material,

specification and/ or components using an appropriate Tyco Electronics part number or specification number scheme.

B. The product’s BOM shall be used to identify the individual components and any materials, also substances that are included, and remain, during the manufacturing process. If alternate materials are permitted to manufacture the product, information for these materials is to be reported.

C. The mass of each component shall: 1. use SI units. 2. be within +/- 10% accuracy.3. use the maximum plating thickness and area for plated parts.4. use a calculated volume and density or actual measured weight.

D. Any change to the materials and/ or mass of a product’s components, e.g. as the result of an engineering change, requires that the information recorded previously in the Compliance Central system be updated to represent the current product. Suppliers of the material and/or components are responsible to notify Tyco Electronics of changes to the product that they provide, see Standard 230-702.

E. Data detailing a material’s substances will be recorded using the material’s trade/ industry name or industry specification, not a generic name. For example, use Valox 420 SE0, not Polyester PBT, 30% glass fiber reinforced. The suppliers name with the trade/ industry name and the generic material description shall be available to internal Tyco Electronics use. The trade/ industry name shall be reported by the supplier.

F. Each substance shall be identified by a CAS number. Substance concentration shall be reported as parts per million (ppm). The formula for ppm is 1,000,000 x mass of the substance/ mass of the homogeneous material.Substances are subdivided into three different substance types.

a. Basic Substances

b. Declarable Substances1) Intentionally added Declarable Substances shall be reported on at any level, regardless of the ppm (parts per million) or percent level.2) Unintentionally added Declarable Substances (e.g., trace elements) must be reported at the homogeneous level, if known or reasonably expected to be known, at any level. If the trace level values exceed the reportable limit, they must be reported.

c. Confidential Substances 1) Confidential Substances are substances which are determined by the supplier to be proprietary to that supplier. Confidential Substances can not be more than 20% by weight of the homogeneous material. Confidential Substances can not be Declarable Substances.

2) All (100%) of the substances that are contained in a material shall be recordedin the Tyco Electronics Compliance Central hazardous material system

regardless of the substance type (i.e., Basic/ Declarable/ Confidential).The Declarable Substances in the material will be reported as a maximum

amount (worst case) that would be found in that material.

The Basic Substances in a material shall be recorded as the nominal concentration that wwould be found in that material.

The sum of the substances in a material must equal 100% of the weight of that material/ component. To ensure all the substances add to 100%, the last substance to be recorded should be the Basic Substance which is the major constituent of the material. It should be calculated as 100 - All Other Substances = major constituent of the material. For example, a copper alloy has 40.05% of its composite derived from substances other than copper. Therefore 100- 40.05% (all the other substances) = 59.95% copper. The copper content of this material should be recorded as 59.95%.

A substance should be declared as it exists in the final product, i.e. only those substances that are present in the final part should be recorded (e.g. lubricant solids, a hardened adhesive, etc).

RSRC – The Regulated Substance and Recyclability Certification System – An Internet accessible program developed and used by DaimlerChrysler Corporation for collection of supplier part, material, and substance of concern data.

Saleable part – The final, as shipped part supplied to Tyco.

Specific Gravity – The ratio of the density of a material (g/cm³) to that of water (1.0 g/ cm³).

Substance - Chemical elements and their compounds. A substance is either a material or a constituent of a material. A substance is not a constituent of a component or product. Each substance will have a unique CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) number assigned to it.

Q: Why am I assigned multiple user IDs to login into the Tyco E-Commerce system?A: This may have happened if you have completed surveys and provided different e-mail addresses or if we have multiple entries in our purchasing system for the company you represent. This should not happen often, but when it does, you will need to sign in using all supplied user id & password combinations. This will assure that you have completed the survey for all part numbers requested. Q: Why am I presented with a drop down list of company names when I sign into the system?A: This situation occurs when you are a representative for a number of different companies or have data in our system with the company names that do no match exactly. This is really a back-end system problem, so you don't need to worry too much as long as you are a representative for the companies in your list. CC Spreadsheet FAQ’sQ: Is it possible to copy part data from one location to another?A: Yes. Data contained in part or material records can be copied within the same spreadsheet, or to another spreadsheet.

Q: What if I don’t have the information that is requested in the Tyco ComplianceConnect spreadsheet?A: You can find the information requested from your Bills of Materials (BOM), MaterialSafety Data Sheets (MSDS), and from reference guidebooks. You may also need togather data from your suppliers for parts your company purchases.

Q: How do I report a substance if it is not in the look up list?A: If a substance is present in your materials but not in the drop down list, report thesubstance as “miscellaneous”.

Q: Why aren’t all of the bottom level parts in my Part Tree showing up in the Material and Part Detail tab?A: If you use a bottom level part in more than one assembly in the Part Tree, it will only appear once on the Material tab and the Part Detail tab because you only have toprovide the information one time.

Q: What do I do when I get an error that says that my weights do not add up to 100%?A: The weight of the materials that make up the part must add up to 100% or the exact weight of the part as listed in the “Part Weight Amount” column. Also, all of the “Weight Amount” columns in the substance section must add up to either 100% or the exact weight of the material.

CC Spreadsheet FAQ’sQ: I cannot generate a .mcc file. What is wrong?A: Only when you have completed the entire Compliance Connect (CC) spreadsheet and it is free of errors can you generate a .mcc file.

Q: What is the difference between the bold headings and the non-bold headings in theCompliance Connect spreadsheet?A: The bold headings are columns containing required information and the non-boldheadings are columns for optional information.

Q: Why are there grayed out rows on the Part Tree and Part Detail tabs?A: Information input into Part Tree and Part Detail tabs is to be staggered. Refer toexamples in the Compliance Connect spreadsheet.
