She ex- plained the processes of writing to both junior and senior groups and shared some of her published works. She really emphasised the importance of writing for the right au- dience and everyone participated in an event described in one of her books – who could stretch a snake lolly the longest without breaking it! Not everybody was success- ful in stretching their snake to any great length but we all enjoyed eating them after- wards. Another big thank you must go to Dookie Primary School for inviting us along to a day they had previously organised. Book Week was kicked off again by a Cluster Day at Katandra West Primary School on Tuesday. Highlights of the day included dancer Bernard Mangakahia and a tour of our solar system in a cardboard rocket in the ‘Cosmodome’. Bernard was fantastic and told the story of his ancestry through dance. He covered the Native Hoop Dance from the North American Indians, the Haka from New Zealand and the Hula from Hawaii. He was truly inspirational and my favourite moment was when he performed the Haka to the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty! The Cosmodome really gave a three dimen- sional impression of Space exploration and complimented what we have been learning in class very well. The whole day was a great learning experience for everyone and our Currawa children are beginning to mix very well with their Cluster friends. A meeting will be held immediately after school next Thursday for all parents regarding Fundraising and our Bus arrangements. It would be great to have everyone there to get input into some pretty important school issues for the future. Finally, I’d like to publicly announce that I will be Acting Principal here at Currawa Pri- mary School until the end of Term 1, 2014. My current understanding is that Mooroopna North Primary School will be advertising their Principal position at the be- ginning of Term 1, 2014 and that this process will be complete by the end of the Term. I would like to wish Les all the best in his quest to be Principal at Mooroopna North. Kind Regards, Mr Cleary.
