IWRM course CKNet-INA• Course Description:

This course includes an introduction to Integrated Water Resources Management. Principles and IWRM Planningleading to the overall goal of sustainable management and development of water resources.Introduction in gender and climate change issues is included.

• Course Duration and Location:

The duration of the course is 5 working days, and will be held in Jakarta or Bandung

• Aim of the Course:To train participants how to develop and implement a water resources management

plan that brings in the principles of IWRM and to provide insight into the tools and

techniques required in the process of IWRM Planning.

• Course Context:

The course will be focused on the Indonesian water resources context especially

related to the new water law UU 7/2004, the water quality regulation and the

implications for River Basin Organizations their Management and the Institutional

aspects.

• Course Structure:

A blend of classroom activities, group discussions, exercises and assignments focusing on the skills to apply theIWRM principles in water resources and irrigation management.

The training will refer to academic topics, institutional setting, personal skill development and topics relevant andapplied to the Indonesian Water Sector under the new Indonesian Water Resources Law UU 7/2004.

5. Establish a strategic vision;

7. Water management strategy and options identification;8. Preparation of a IWRM plan and process of approval;

9. Follow-up after the IWRM plan.

• Course ParticipantsMaximum 25; preferably academic background in Water resources development or management, Environmental and Water quality management, Irrigationdevelopment or management, Hydrology, Agriculture; At least 5 years relevantexperiences are desirable.

• Course lecturers or facilitators requirementsLecturers and/or facilitators are familiar with the development in water resources inIndonesia, especially with the legislation and institutional aspects of IWRM, andhave knowledge of the new Indonesian Water Resources Law UU 7/2004 and itsimplications on water resources management in Indonesia.

• Course Monitoring and Evaluation – through feedback from the participants in a simple benchmark test at the start and the end

of the course program

 – a written questionnaire and feedback sessions at the end of the course on the learningexperiences of the participants during the 5-days course.

• CertificationA Certificate of Attendance will only be given to the participants who activelyparticipate in all components of the course and attend the whole course. This ismonitored and evaluated by the course director.
