Metal Stud Crete⑧ (MSC) SITE CAST CONCRETE WALL PANELS

1.O SUBJECT

Engineer, fabricate and insta11 MSC concrete panels to withstand design loads within limits and under

COnditions indicated. Panel design shall confom with ICC ESR-25 1 1 and meet the requlrementS Of

the current Intemational Building Code.

1. 1 GENERAL

A. System Description:

1. MSC panel fabrication shall include al1 1abor, materials and equipment necessary to

manufacture the panels as shown by the Contract Documents.

2. MSC panel insta11ation sha11 include all labor, materials and equipment necessary for

the installation of panels as shown by the Contract Documents.

3. The MSC composite panels consist of light-gauge Steel studs and a reinforced concrete

facing or topping on one side of the studs, With the MSC metal comector providing a

Shear-flow comection between the steel studs and the concrete. MSC is a patented

ICC approved steel comector strip used to transfer shear stresses in composite wall

Panel systems.

4. The Panel Manufacturer shall fumish all comection hardware embedded in the panels.

The fumishing and placement of the hardware in the cast-in-Place (i.e., Slab, footings)

COnCrete Will be the responsibility of the General Contractor.

5・ Items and openmgS Which are to be cast into the MSC panels for other trades shall be

PrOVided to the Panel Manufa・Cturer, With instructions, in a timely mamer in order not

to disrupt or delay production. All such embeds, hardware and exact location of sane

Shall be fully defined in contract drawings.

B.

C.

Engineering Responsibility: A qualified professional engineer shall prepare design calcula-

tions and other structural data for MSC concrete units.

Submittals: In addition to product data, manufacturer’s instructions, COnCrete mix designs,

material test reports, and material certificates, Submit the following:

1. Samples:

a. Submit preliminary sample’apPrOXimately 1 2” x 1 2", rePreSentative offinished

exposed face.

b. Prior to commencement of manufacture, Submit production sample, apPrOXi-

mately 4’x 4’, for final approval of coIor and texture.

Shop and Erection Drawings: Submit one (1) reproducible set and three (3) blueline

SetS Showing:

els similar to those required on this pr句ect.

ProfessionaI Engineer Qualifications: A professional engineer who is lega11y authorized to

PraCtice in the jurisdiction where PrQject is Iocated and who is experienced in providing engl-

neermg Services of the kind indicated.

Quality Assurance:1. Full-Scale Panel:

a. After standard samples are accepted for coIor and text皿e, PrOduce full-SCale

Panel that meets design requlrementS. This panel shall be viewed and approved

by the Architect,

b. The full-SCale panel shall be representative of standard quality for site cast panel

WOrk, When accepted by Architect.

C. Incorporate餌1-SCale panel into work after keeping panel at site cast location

for checking purposes.

1.2 MATERIALS

A. Stee量Studs: Where the MSC comector is used, Steel studs in composite panels must be rec-

Ognized in a current ICC ES evaluation report. Physical and section properties are found in

the evaluation report on the steel stud. Minimun steel thickness and yield strength for the

Studs must comply with Table l ofICC ESR-251 1

B.

C.

MSC Connector: The MSC comector transfers shear stresses between the concrete facing and

the light-gauge Steel stud・ The strip is fastened to the web ofthe stud and the flange of the

track. The strip comector with stud frane attached is then embedded into the concrete facing.

The strip is fわricated from No. 1 8 gauge thick (0.047 inch [1. 19 mm]) steel, COmPlying either

With ASTM A 653, Grade 33, Or With SAM A 570, Grade 33. The galvanized coating complies

with ASTM A 924.

Concrete: The concrete facing or topping is nomal-Weight concrete having a minimun com-

PreSSive strength of 2,500 pounds per square inch (17.2 Mpa) at 28 days. Concrete materialsmust comply with Section 1 903 ofthe Code.

Steel Reinforcement: Concrete panels must be reinforced in accordance with the structural

design, and the steel reinforcement must comply with the Code.

Screws: The MSC comector must be attached to the stud using galvanized tek type selfLdrill-

mg, Self-tapPing sheet metal screws of a manufa′Cturer Or brand recognized in a c皿ent ICC

ES report. The screws must comply with the standards for the allowable pullout and shear

loads described in those reports. The design engmeer Shall calculate the shear, Pullout and

tension requlrementS and select a screw that has confimed the capacity for those values.

1. 3 FABRICATION

Vent SeParation, Segregation or loss of material.

2. Consolidate a11 concrete in the fom to minimize unintentional pour lines, honeycomb-

mg Or entrapPed air on vertical surfaces.

E. Curing: Procedures su範cient to insure specified concrete strength of a11 panels must be em-

PIoyed. Stripping of a panel shall not occur until concrete strength is su飾cient to prevent

CraCking or breaking of the panel.
