A President vs a KING….???1.In today’s terminology we don’t always understand what a King really means to a nation

2.We think that it was “something” that happened in the olden days – and thus we struggle to understand what it means to us today that God is King, and thus Jesus also being a King amongst so many other things…

3.Also – why both God & Samuel were so disappointed with Israel, when they insisted on a King – and not wanting the Judges that God gave them anymore… (Read the whole book of Judges)

4.1Sam 8:4-6 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah, And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. 5.1Sam 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. 6.So let’s first look at what is familiar to us today – to have a President instead of a King ruling the country…

7.President - Definition:1. First of all a President is Elected by the Public2. His “time” to be President is determined by a voting process3. Normally just 1 Term = 5 years, and if the public really like him, he could potentially be

elected again for a 2nd term of another 5 years, but hardly ever a 3rd term4. A President doesn’t have all the say – there is Judicial system that also watches over

everything – and if anything is not according to the Laws of the country the Judge in a Court can over rule the decisions, etc…

5. A President’s life is protected by officials – and the country will also have a 2nd person assigned to step in whenever there is any reason for him to take over when the President is incapable to make decisions, or has passed away suddenly during his term, etc..

6. The President will never go out into the battle fields – he will normally be issuing all the orders from his country – and send the soldiers of his country into battle…

7. And normally the “domain” he has authority over is the country that elected him – and he can’t easily expand the country’s borders whenever he wants to…

A President vs a KING….??? (cont…)1.King - Definitions

1. The King has all the say – he decides what is Law in the Country – and what not2. His Word is Law – and once it is written down by the scribes – it can’t be changed again or over

ruled3. He does not get elected – he is Born into the Kingdom – normally the first born son, called the

Crown Prince – until his dad the King passes away – or – if ever the King decides to step down from the throne – which usually never happens

4. A King Decides on the Taxes to be paid by the people in his Kingdom…5. And he decides on who will be slaves and who will be set free. And no rebellion against the King

were allowed at all…6. A King will go out and Fight in the battles that threatens his Kingdom, or to take some more

territory in order to expand his Kingdom – and subdue the kings of the Territories he conquered7. A King only has 1 Queen, but he can have many concubines (woman the King normally had a 1

night stand with and didn’t find them fit to be queen.. But now they aren’t allowed to marry anyone else…and their children are often killed… being a threat to the throne) (Eg see Esther, or Kink Solomon 1 Kings 11:3 – who had 700 wives and 300 concubines)

8. Kings show off their Glory – one to another – and will give to each other in Abundance… (see also Queen of Sheba)

9. NOTE: For Israel, the initial 3 Kings were Appointed & Anointed by God (Saul, David & Solomon), but thereafter everything went its own way through heritage or battles, etc..

10.Thus just from all of this – we can see that a King has more Authority and Freedom to Rule and to Reign than a President… and that a King should be Anointed by God the KING of kings

11.Some Scriptures to show what I mean…12.Est 1:2-4 That in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan

the palace, In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him: When he shewed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honour of his excellent majesty many days, even an hundred and fourscore days.

13.1Sa 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

14.Psa 89:20 I have found David My servant; with My holy oil have I anointed him:

A Country vs A Kingdom….???1.From the previous slides we already saw some differences and thus can already get an idea what the major differences are between a Country and a Kingdom….

2.A Country – has its borders set – and has been determined over various conflicts and agreements etc – and eventually the whole world accepts a country’s borders – and respects that country’s authority within those borders – and won’t easily step in to take over – unless it is causing a threat to the world, and that would mean war if anyone does intend to do so

3.But a Kingdom – is the DOMAIN of the KING – meaning it could potentially be of many countries – which are called Colonies of the Main Kingdom

Like England – had many territories or rather colonies across the world which formed part of their Kingdom at one stage – of which South Africa was once also part of that Kingdom, until it became an Independent Republic in May 1961… when even our money system had to change from Pounds to Rands etc. to prove our independence now from England

4.THUS: For these Colonies - The King will assign a Governor to Rule that particular part (Colony) of the Kingdom on behalf of the King – as if the King was living there himself – and would have set the rules and regulations according to his will and authority

5.For instance during the time of Jesus’ birth – Rome was the major Ruling Kingdom Authority in the world – and the Caesar was the Roman Emperor – or King…and Israel was then colonized by Rome – as they were overtook/conquered by the Julius Caesar of Rome in 63BC.

6.And he then assigned a Governor – to Govern or act as a Ruler (eg. Pontius Pilate) – on behalf of the King (or rather Caesar at the time of Rome’s Rule) – and subdued the Kings of Israel (Luk 23:12 – Not friends)

7.NOTE: in today’s terminology a Governor can also be termed an Ambassador of a country – by being elected by the Country’s Government as being a diplomatic official of the Highest Rank of its country - being then sent by the sovereign or state of that country - to another Country, State or Domain, as its Resident Representative…

Eg. The South African President can assign an Ambassador to represent SA in America or any of the Europe or Asian countries etc…

But today – it is more to Facilitate International talks or attend conferences etc… when the President can’t attend….

•Jesus understood Kingdom principles very well – He even started preaching – that the Kingdom of God is at hand…and the Devil couldn’t even tempt Him in that very truth…Math 4:8-10, 17•Mat 22:17-21 – Jesus said to give to Caesar what belongs to him, and to God, what belongs to Him…•Eph 6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Prophecies in the Old Testament of the Messiah being a KING….???1.Let’s look at some prophecies – specifically pointing to the Messiah and that He will be a King, amongst many things…2.Prophecy by Balaam: Numbers 24:17 AMP I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but He is not near. A star (Star) shall come forth out of Jacob, and a scepter (Scepter) shall rise out of Israel and shall crush all the corners of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth [Moab's sons of tumult]. [Fulfilled in Matt. 2:2; & Confirmed by Paul in Rom. 15:12.]3.Jeremiah 23:5-6 AMP Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch (Sprout), and He will reign as King and do wisely and will execute justice and righteousness in the land. In His days Judah shall be saved and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is His name by which He shall be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.4.Zech 9:9 AMP Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O Daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you; He is [uncompromisingly] just and having salvation [triumphant and victorious], patient, meek, lowly, and riding on a donkey, upon a colt, the foal of a donkey. [Fulfilled in Matt. 21:5 & John 12:14, 15.]5.Isa 9:2, 6-7 AMP The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light; those who dwelt in the land of intense darkness and the shadow of death, upon them has the Light shined. For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. 6.Isaiah 11:1, 10 AMP AND THERE shall come forth a Shoot out of the stock of Jesse [David's father], and a Branch out of his roots shall grow and bear fruit. And it shall be in that day that the Root of Jesse shall stand as a signal for the peoples; of Him shall the nations inquire and seek knowledge, and His dwelling shall be glory [His rest glorious]! 7.Mat 2:23 AMP He went and dwelt in a town called Nazareth, so that what was spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled: He shall be called a Nazarene [Branch, Separated One]. [Isa. 11:1.] (Nazareth Branch)8.The wise men from the east came and asked King Herod: Mat 2:2 AMP Where is He Who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east at its rising and have come to worship Him. [Num. 24:17; Jer. 23:5; Zech. 9:9.] Note: Pilot wrote a title to be placed on the Cross – King of the Jews (Joh19:19)

Prophecies in the Old Testament of the Messiah being a KING….???1.Just to show – that Israel knew all the prophecies in the time of Jesus – and thus some of them recognised Him clearly – even the physically blind people believed….2.Luk 18:38-41 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. 3.John 1:44-46 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see. 4.Mat 16:15-19 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Mat 18:18)5.AND: Thus the reason why the Disciples asked Jesus just before His ascension – if it will now be the time for his Kingdom to come… as they were completely confused by everything that happened over the past 3½ years… But God had other plans..!!!

6.Act 1:6-8 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt Thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.7.But then there were others – that just didn’t want to believe – only seeing Jesus in the Flesh!!!8.Joh 6:41-42 The Jews then murmured at Him, because He said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

So When did Jesus Take the Throne….???1.Jesus prayed in Joh 17 – just before He was taken captive by Judas and the soldiers:2.Joh 17:4-6 I have glorified Thee on the earth: I have finished the work which Thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Thou me with Thine own self with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was. I have manifested Thy name unto the men which thou gavest Me out of the world: Thine they were, and Thou gavest them Me; and they have kept Thy word. 3.Then in John 18 & 19 – when Jesus was brought before Pilot by the Jewish Leaders, see Jesus’ conversation with Pilate – He confirms the reason for His Birth:

4.Joh 18:36-37 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 5.Joh 19:10-11 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee? Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered Me unto thee hath the greater sin. 6.Then Paul writes in Ephesians – that his desire is that we will see and understand who Jesus really is – and the Power and Authority He stands in…etc..…!!! (see Mat 28:18 – All Power has been given to Him)

7.Eph 1:19-23 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all. 8.Then in Hebrews 1 it is also confirmed: Heb 1:3-4, 8-9 Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. … But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. 9.THUS: Jesus had shared the Glory of God before He was born in a physical body, and asked to be glorified again after everything was completed by Him..10.And He took the throne with the Father after His Ascension – Resting and waiting for His enemies to all be subdued by His body – the Church (G1577: Ecclesia – or Gathering/Assembly of the Saints) !!!

Page 8: 1.A President vs A King ?? 2.What is a Kingdom compared to a Country ?? 3.Prophecies about the Messiah being a King 4.When did Jesus take the Throne ??

And What does this mean to me today….???1.Paul speaks in Ephesians 1 just before his prayer of what it all means to us today:2.Eph 1:7-10 In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace; Wherein He hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him: 3.Eph 1:11-14 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will: That we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Christ. In Whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in Whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest (pledge) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.4.And in the book of Hebrews it is written:5.Heb 11:39-40 And these all (i.e. the Faith Heroes), having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. …6.Heb 12:28-29 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire. 7.SO: I close with this passage from Rom 8:8.Rom 8:29-32 For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 9.Meaning – that Jesus was Born King – as His Father is the King of all…. (Mat 6:10 Thy Kingdom)

10.BUT: in this case God the King – is Sharing His Throne With His Son ..!!!! 11.AND: He even wants us to share in that Glorious Inheritance with Jesus..!!!

12.Revelation 19:11-16 AMP – Jesus: KING of Kings and LORD of Lords…. !!!
