“Music, Movement and Learning: Creating Powerful Experiences in Young Brains!”

Music and movement experiences during the early years develop strong young brains while promoting many critical school

readiness skills and early reading skills (phonological/phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency, and confidence) (Greenough

& Black, 1992; Shatz, 1992). This multi-sensory experience makes learning fun, more importantly; it meets the needs of ALL

children, regardless of their linguistic, emotional, cognitive or social needs.

PRESENTER

Mike Longoria, a.k.a. Dr. Mike!, has a Ph.D. in early childhood education

and has over 22 years of early childhood experience in the capacity as

a Pre-K, kindergarten, and PPCD teacher, Head Start administrator,

University professor, independent consultant, curriculum developer,

and recording artist. Dr. Mike’s passion, knowledge, and innovative

approach to early childhood makes learning what it should be...fun

and exciting.

Dr. Mike has keynoted and presented at major early childhood

conferences and has conducted staff development for child

care providers, Head Start, Pre-K, and kindergarten teachers

throughout the country. His multi-sensory approach to teaching

and learning is transparent through his musical, kinesthetic,

and interactive approach in his trainings and workshops.
