!omas Jenner acquired the thirty-seven English county mileage table plates engraved by Jacob van Langeren (see 1635a). He then erased the original thumbnail maps and engraved new ones in their place. !ey were copied from the general map of England in John Speed’s !eatre. !ese uncommon new maps are on twice the scale of the original ones and more detailed:

Leicestershire and Rutland are still on one plate and Yorkshire is still one of the larger ones. From 1668 all the plates have been retouched. !ey were also printed on larger pages with text below and on the back, in the Book of names....
