MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

As Mayor of Maranoa Regional Council and on behalf of my fellow Councillors and Maranoa

community, I warmly welcome all performers, families and support networks to the 2019 Roma &

District Eisteddfod.

My sincere and well deserved appreciations go out to the dedicated volunteers of the Roma &

District Eisteddfod, who, once again have put in many hours in the creation of the seamless

performances to be enjoyed this year. Through your efforts, school students and community

members alike can participate in this opportunity to explore their artistic and performing skills.

It takes a village to create an event such as this. As that village, you have provided the platform for

many to express themselves artistically, on a stage that may not have been available to all

participants otherwise.

The Roma & District Eisteddfod is, as always also a huge learning experience for participants, both

on stage and off, with access to expert advice, professional adjudication and encouragement.

Maranoa Regional Council is very proud to support the 2019 Roma & District Eisteddfod.

This year’s array of talented performers will showcase their practiced skills in their final

performances on stage for us all to enjoy. We congratulate and commend each of you and wish you

every success.

Continue to embrace the arts throughout your future. Leave no stone unturned in discovering your

expression.

Mayor Tyson Golder - Maranoa Regional Council

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Performers and Supporters,

Thank you for supporting the Roma and District’s 11th Annual Eisteddfod. Our eisteddfod is focused on

providing the opportunity for performers to take the stage, gain confidence and learn from their

experiences. Many of our competitors are performing for the first time in public, and we thank the parents

and teachers who have encouraged these people. We hope that the competitors will gain confidence from

the experience and by listening to our Adjudicator Mrs Bryanne Jardine and will take away new skills to

improve future performances.

Thank you to all committee members – Carmel Treasure, Gordon Rowlings, Lindy Douglas, Jane Hanly,

Annie McArthur, Janet Rowlings, Amy Rose, Cathy Cooper, Matt and Serena Gane. Your support and

tireless work on the Eisteddfod for the last five months has been an amazing effort and I know that you

make sacrifices so the Eisteddfod can be such a wonderful success.

Thank you to the generous parents and community members who work as volunteers at the eisteddfod.

The eisteddfod would not be able to survive without your generous gifts of time!

We were fortunate to gain support from the Maranoa Regional Council, who provided $5000 to make the eisteddfod possible. The majority of these funds are used to provide speech and drama workshops for the schools in the region. We will continue this in 2020 with choral music workshops to support many of our smaller school communities. Community events, such as our eisteddfod, rely heavily on the generous support of business and

community groups. We are so pleased that so many local business owners can appreciate the value of an

opportunity for young people to perform. Their generous financial contributions allow us to purchase

trophies, organise the event and provide a very qualified adjudicator.

Please thank all of the sponsoring business and community groups, especially if you win a medal or receive a certificate. Please consider supporting them by shopping locally for goods and services. They are great, friendly people who really care about our community. We hope that you will enjoy the 11th Annual Roma and District Eisteddfod, and with the continued support

of performers, parents and local businesses we hope to continue this wonderful tradition for many years to

come.

Leesa Murray President, Roma and District Eisteddfod Committee
