    1 GENERAL

    1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

    1.1.1 Include the General Conditions of the Contract as part of this section.

    1.1.2 The Contractor shall become familiar with other sections of the Specifications affecting work ofthis trade.

    1.1.3 Furnish all labour, materials, plant, equipment and appliances and perform all necessaryoperations required to execute the work of this section.

    1.1.4 This section describes the requirements for the vibration attenuator measures that are required.

    1.2 RELATED SECTIONS

    1.2.1 This schedule is intended to be used as a helpful indication of the related sections within theProject Specifications. It is not necessarily comprehensive or complete and it is the Contractor'sresponsibility to ascertain all applicable sections required to understand the full Scope of Works

    intended.

    1.3 REFERENCES

    1.3.1 The minimum standards for products specified in this section shall be those standards referred toor relevant BSI standards.

    1.4 SUBMITTALS FOR REVIEW

    1.4.1 Section 01300 - Submittals.

    1.4.2 Submit samples, specifications, engineering calculations, catalogue cut sheets, description ofproduct and installation method in accordance with the Contract Documents. Submissions shallindicate all dimensions, details of construction, details of installation, relation and connectionswith adjoining work.

    1.4.3 Submit copies of test reports required to be performed on the proposed products.

    1.4.4 Submit a list of installation completed where proposed products were used.

    1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

    1.5.1 Perform Work in accordance with relevant British Standards and industry standard codes.

    1.6 QUALIFICATIONS

    1.6.1 The specialist company used shall have supplied antivibration products in Oman for at least the

    last five years.

    1.7 MOCK-UP

    1.7.1 No requirements

    1.8 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

    2 PRODUCTS

    2.1 APPROVED MANUFACTURER OR PRODUCT

    2.1.1 Kinetics, Mason Industries or equivalent

    2.2 PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS

    2.2.1 ANTI-VIBRATION PROCEDURES

    2.2.1.1 All dynamic machinery shall be isolated from the building structure by vibration isolators and/orvibration isolation materials which shall be purpose designed and selected to suit themachinery. Where mat type isolation materials are used, the Contractor shall supply thematerials used and shall be responsible for their correct positions and installation. All othervibration isolators shall be both supplied and installed by the Contractor. Isolation efficiency of

    anti vibration devices and materials shall be as indicated.

    2.2.1.2 For fans and air distribution systems, flexible joints in accordance with other parts of thisspecification shall be provided. For pumps and water distribution systems, purpose designedflexible connections shall be provided in accordance with this specification. The connectionsshall be compatible with the tube materials, the methods of jointing and the fluid(s) handled inthe system.

    2.2.1.3 Electrical connections to motors and other dynamic machinery, shall be made in accordancewith the electrical part of this specification.

    2.2.2 SPRING ANTI VIBRATION MOUNTINGS:

    2.2.2.1 Select spring mounts with an overload capacity of 50%, for metal springs the outside diametershould be at least 75% of operating height. Permanently identify individual mounts with theirload capacity.

    2.2.3 SPRING HANGERS:

    2.2.3.1 Provide spring hangers that allow the lower hanger rod to move laterally at least 15o.

    2.2.4 LOCKING FACILITY:

    2.2.4.1 Where indicated, provide lockable levelling device.

    2.2.5 SYNTHETIC MATERIAL CONFIGURED MAT MOUNTINGS:

    2.2.5.1 Provide configured mat mountings manufactured from neoprene or composite fibre/syntheticrubber.

    2.2.5.2 Where mats are stacked, bond 1mm steel sheet thickness between each pad without fillingvoids.

    2.2.6 HIGH TEMPERATURE CONFIGURED MAT MOUNTINGS:

    2.2.6.1 Provide configured mat mountings manufactured from high temperature synthetic rubber.2.2.6.2 Where mats are stacked, bond 1mm steel sheet thickness between each pad without filling

    voids.

    2.2.7 RESILIENT MAT MOUNTINGS:

    2.2.7.1 Provide a minimum of 20mm resilient mat and sheet of 1.6 mm steel for incorporation in castin situ base.

    2.2.8 PAD MOUNTINGS:

    2.2.8.1 Provide pad mountings manufactured from composite synthetic rubber.

    2.2.9 SYNTHETIC RUBBER TURRET COMPRESSION MOUNTINGS:

    2.2.9.1 Provide turret compression mountings fabricated from synthetic rubber between two steelplates.

    2.2.9.2 Protect the metal from corrosion by painting and fix friction pads to top and bottom. Providebolt holes to allow fixing.

    2.2.10 NEOPRENE TURRET COMPRESSION MOUNTINGS:

    2.2.10.1 Provide turret compression mountings fabricated from neoprene between two steel plates.

    2.2.10.2 Protect the metal from corrosion by painting and fix friction pads to top and bottom. Providebolt holes to allow fixing.

    2.2.11 SPRING COMPRESSION MOUNTINGS:

    2.2.11.1 Provide spring compression mountings comprising high strength low stress helical springcapped with steel pressure plate, on resilient base pad, mounted on pre- drilled base forbolting down, and enclosed with cap. Protect metal from corrosion.

    2.2.12 CAPTIVE SPRING MOUNTINGS:

    2.2.12.1 Provide captive spring mountings comprising high strength low stress helical spring designedto achieve horizontal and vertical snubbing. Mount spring on predrilled base plate for boltingdown and protect against corrosion. Supply complete with levelling screw.

    2.2.13 SYNTHETIC RUBBER HANGERS, TURRET COMPRESSION:

    2.2.13.1 Provide turret compression hangers fabricated from synthetic rubber incorporated with hangerbox.

    2.2.13.2 Construct hanger box from steel (minimum thickness 1.6mm) complete with hole forsuspension rod and enlarged lower hole for drop rod to equipment.

    2.2.14 HANGERS, SPRING COMPRESSION:

    2.2.14.1 Provide spring compression hangers comprising high strength low stress helical spring cappedwith steel pressure plate, on resilient base pad, mounted within hanger box. Construct hangerbox from steel (minimum thickness 1.6mm) complete with hole for suspension rod andenlarged lower hole for drop rod to equipment.

    2.2.15 HORIZONTALLY RESTRAINED SPRING MOUNTINGS:

    2.2.15.1 Provide horizontally restrained spring mountings comprising high strength low stress helicalspring capped with steel pressure plate, on resilient base pad, mounted within hanger box.Construct hanger box from steel (minimum thickness 1.6mm) complete with holes for installingacross connection. In addition supply synthetic rubber or neoprene snubber as a horizontalbuffer.

    2.2.16 CONCRETE/STEEL FORMWORK INERTIA BASES:

    2.2.16.1 Provide purpose built inertia bases constructed using welded steel frame formwork containingconcrete reinforced with 12mm minimum diameter bars at 100mm maximum centres, 35mm

    above the bottom of the base; and mounted on spring compression mountings.

    2.2.17 WELDED STEEL FRAME INERTIA BASES:

    2.2.17.1 Provide purpose built inertia bases constructed using welded steel frame mounted on springcompression mountings.

    2.2.18 VIBRATION ISOLATION HOSES:

    2.2.18.1 Provide flexible hose couplings for connecting pipework comprising nylon fabric or steel meshcarcass with waterproof cover and internal lining of material to suit fluid conveyed,temperatures and pressures indicated.

    2.2.19 RUBBER MATTING PIPEWORK NOISE VIBRATION ISOLATION:

    2.2.19.1 Incorporate within pipework support ring purpose made isolators manufactured from rubbermatting.

    2.2.20 FLOATING FLOORS

    2.2.20.1 Provide floating floors beneath all items of dynamic plant and equipment that are sited onsuspended floor slabs and the area below is one of the following:

    1) Guestroom2) Front of House Area3) Office

    2.2.20.2 The floating floor system shall comprise of a concrete curb which is at least 1.2m from theedge of the plant with a 100m dense concrete floating floor slab within the curb. The floatingfloor slab shall be resiliently mounted on a composite acoustic mat such as the Model RIMmade by Kinetics. Perimeter isolation shall be 20mm thick resilient material as recommendedby the manufacturer.

    2.2.20.3 Any services breaches in the floor shall be via upstand curbs with resilient edge detail or byplacing resilient material around the service to the manufacturers detail. Any drains shall bemade using a special vibration isolated floor drains.

    3 EXECUTION

    3.1 EXAMINATION

    3.1.1 Verify site conditions under provisions of Section 01400.

    3.1.2 Before ordering any materials / commencing work verify that building structure associated withthe system is within tolerance and take full account of shape configuration and materialproperties of the structure.

    3.2 PREPARATION

    3.2.1 Following manufacturers written recommendations.

    3.3 HANDLING AND STORAGE

    3.3.1 Deliver component parts to site, completely identified in accordance with shop and certifieddrawings prepared for this work. Store in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, aboveground, properly protected from the weather and construction activities.

    3.4 FABRICATION

    3.4.1 Follow manufacturers recommendation for inertia bases and floating floors.

    3.5 INSTALLATION

    3.5.1 Before beginning installation in any area, examine all parts of the adjoining work into whichapplicable work is to be placed. Should any conditions be found which will prevent the proper

    execution of the work, installation shall not proceed in that area until such conditions arecorrected by the contractor.

    3.5.2 GENERAL:

    3.5.2.1 Install vibration isolation equipment and carry out levelling of equipment in accordance with

    manufacturer's instructions.

    3.5.3 CAST IN SITU BASES:

    3.5.3.1 Ensure bases are cast to achieve design static deflection.

    3.5.4 FIXING:

    3.5.4.1 Fix down vibration isolation mountings only where indicated.

    3.5.5 HORIZONTALLY RESTRAINED SPRING MOUNTINGS:

    3.5.5.1 Ensure snubbers for limiting excessive movement are installed out of contact during normal

    operation.

    3.6 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

    3.6.1 Provide field quality control under provisions of Section 01400 - Quality Control.

    3.7 CLEANING

    3.7.1 Section 01710 - Cleaning installed work.

    3.7.2 Remove labels after Work is complete.

    3.8 PROTECTION OF FINISHED WORK

    3.8.1 Protect work under provisions of Section 01710.

    3.9 SCHEDULE

    3.9.1 This schedule is intended to be used as a helpful indication of work within this section. It is notnecessarily comprehensive or complete and it is the Contractor's responsibility to ascertain andcomplete the full works intended and as shown within the drawings, specification and Contract orthereby implied.
