Completing Practical Skills (20%)

Silver Star Cadets will complete the Field Training Exercise at Blackdown Cadet Training Centre. Activities will include range training (Lee-Enfield .22), abseil training, field first aid, confidence course and team building games.


The Short Essay (10%)

The short essay is a tool for junior leaders to examine the principles of leadership demonstrated in action.

Topic: “Identify how the ten principles of leadership are exemplified by the main character in the film, “We Were Soldiers,” or “Band of Brothers - Crossroads.”

Length: 750 – 1000 words If you miss the presentation, this film is rentable at your

local video shop.



Cadet Fitness Testing:Cadets must participate and attempt to achieve a level (bronze,

silver, gold) in the Cadet Fitness Test. Elements to be tested are:

a. Push Ups

b. Sit Ups

c. Standing Long Jump

d. Shuttle Run



Demonstrate safe handling and range drills:

You must demonstrate knowledge of safety on the range. This Performance Objective is covered on the field exercise. Cadets must complete a safe handling test prior to shooting on the ranges.

Passing the Written Silver Star Test: The test will have at least one question from

each chapter with emphasis on leadership. Additionally you are required to review current

CF Operations on the Department of National Defence website www.dnd.ca.
