The ExpertsJan Baele is the RASFF Head of Sector and part of the European Commission DG SANTE Unit responsible for coordi-nating and managing the RASFF system across EU countries. In 2018 he and RASFF teams across the EU dealt with about 4,000 alerts and notifications.

Katleen Baert is a Bio-engineer in chemis-try and has been a Scientific Officer in the BIOCONTAM Unit of EFSA since 2010. Before joining EFSA she worked for the Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain as a Risk Assessor for biological and chemical hazards.

Alan R. Boobis retired from his chair at Imperial College London in June 2017, and is now Emeritus Professor of Toxicology at the College. He has been a member of the

EFSA PPR Panel and the Panel on Contaminants in the Food Chain. He has been a member/Chair of JMPR and JECFA (veterinary drugs) for approx. 20 years.

Neil Buck is a Corporate Toxicologist for General Mills. He spends most of his time on innovation of products and production processes and in managing technical

regulatory affairs. Neil has spent more than 20 years in industry.

Birgit Christall is a Food Chemist and has a long history as expert in contaminants and especially pesticide residues in food. She worked in different private laboratories, for

authorities and the baby food industry. In 2010 she joined the Food Federation Germany (former BLL).

Benedikt Cramer is working at the Institute of Food Chemistry at the University of Münster as the Head of the Service Unit “Instrumental analysis and spectroscopy”.

Peter Fürst retired from the Chemical and Veterinary Analytical Institute Münsterland-Emscher- Lippe board in 2019 and now works at the University of Münster as

a Honorary Professor. He joined the EFSA CONTAM Panel from 2006 to 2015 and was also Vice-Chair. Since last year he has been a member of the EFSA FAF Panel.

Karma Fussell is a Toxicologist and Senior Specialist in Chemical Food Safety at Nestlé with expertise in developmental and reproductive toxicology and endocrine disruption measured in vivo and in vitro. She joined Nestlé in 2014 after concluding a Post-Doc begun in 2011 at BASF.

Bettina Grasl-Kraupp is a Professor and a European Registered Toxicologist and leads the Research Unit “Chemical safety and cancer prevention” at the Institute for Cancer

Research of the Medical University of Vienna. Since 2014 she has been a member of the EFSA CONTAM Panel and is the Chair of the WG on glycoalkaloids.

Rüdiger Helling worked as the Head of the Food Contact Materials and Consumer Goods Section at the Saxon State Laboratory for Public and Veterinary Health for 14 years. In

his current position as the Head of Division at the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Consumer Protection he is responsible for the whole diversity of not only contaminants in food.

Ron Hoogenboom is the Assistant Programme Leader Food Contaminants at Wageningen Food Safety Research, dealing with environmental contaminants, pesticides

and toxins from moulds, algae and plants. Since 2012 he has been a member of the EFSA CONTAM Panel and is the Vice-Chair of the WG on PFAS.

Luisa Ramos Bordajandi is a Scientist focused on the development of multi- dimensional analytical techniques for the analysis of contaminants in food. In 2008, she joined EFSA and acts since then as a Scientific Officer within the BIOCONTAM Unit.

Dieter Schrenk has been a Professor for Food Chemistry and Environmental Toxi- cology at the University of Kaiserslautern since 1996. In 2005 he took on the full professorship

for Food Chemistry and Toxicology.

Tanja Schwerdtle is a Food Chemist and has been a Full Professor for Food Chemistry at the University of Münster since 2008 and at the University of Potsdam’s

Institute of Nutritional Science since 2013. Since March 2020 she has been the Vice President of the German BfR in Berlin.

Holger Sieg is a Biochemist and has been the Head of the Junior Research Group Nanotoxicology based in the Food Safety Department at the German BfR in Berlin

since 2017. The group conducts research concerning the uptake and effects of orally ingested nanomaterials on the human body.

Richard Stadler is the Head of the Institute for Food Safety & Analytical Science in Lausanne. Richard has held several research and quality management positions

within Nestlé. He is also the Chairman of the FoodDrinkEurope contaminants expert group.

Hans Steinkellner has been a Senior Scientific Officer (Toxicologist) in the BIOCONTAM Unit of EFSA in Parma since 2014. From 2007 to 2014 he was a Scientific

Officer in the Pesticide Unit. Before joining EFSA he worked for the European Chemicals Bureau of the JRC.

Michele Suman is the Head of the Food Safety & Authenticity Research Unit at Barilla, working in an inter- national context on research projects. He is the Chair of the Italian

National Normative Organisation (UNI) Food Authenticity Working Group.

Angelika Tritscher has been the Global Food Safety Director for Danone’s Specialised Nutrition Division since 2019, assuring the safety of the products in the early life and medical

nutrition business. Before she was the WHO’s Risk Assessment and Management Coordinator for its Food Safety and Zoonoses Department.

Frans Verstraete works at the European Commission in the Direction General SANTE and is responsible for legislation on contaminants.

Terms of Participation and PurchaseThe registration fee includes the event participation, event documenta-tion, lunch, coffee breaks, beverages as well as the evening event. You will receive written confirmation of your registration. Upon receiving our invoice, please transfer the amount due without further deductions before the event begins. The price of the event documentation includes a hard copy of the docu-mentation as weII as an access code to the secure Akademie Fresenius download area. Both the documents and the secure access code will be dispatched around two weeks after the event and as soon as advance payment has been received.

Group ReductionsFor joint bookings received from one company we grant a 15% discount from the third participant onwards.

Terms of CancellationWritten cancellations or transfers will be accepted free of charge up to four weeks prior to the start of the event. After this date and up to a week prior to the start of the event we will reimburse 50% of the registration fee. We cannot, unfortunately, provide refunds for later cancellations. Please note that you can name a substitute free of charge at any time.
