    VERY IMPORTANT

    A. The question paper consists of 3 section (Section-1contains Chemistry , Section-2containsMathematicsand Section-3 containsPhysics ). Please fill the OMR answer Sheet accordingly and carefully.

    B. Each Section contains (14 questions in Part-A, 1 question in Part-B and4 questions in Part-C) andtotal number of pages are 32.

    C. Please ensure that the Question Paper you have received contains ALL THE QUESTIONS ineach Section and PAGES. If you found some mistake like missing questions or pages thencontact immediately to the Invigilator.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    PART-A

    1. Q.1 to Q.8 are single correct type questions. Each question has four choices (A), (B), (C) and (D)out of which ONLY ONE is correct. For Q.1 to Q.4, you will be awarded 3 marks and for Q.5 to Q.8, you will be awarded 4 marksif you have darkened only the bubble corresponding to the correct answer and zero mark if no bubbleare darkened. In all other cases, minus one (1) markwill be awarded.

    2. Q.9 to Q.11 are Paragraph type. Based upon the paragraph 3 single correct typequestions have to beanswered. Each of these questions has four choices (A), (B), (C) and (D) out of whichONLY ONE is correct. For each question, you will beawarded 3 marksif you have darkened only the bubble corresponding to the correctanswer andzero markif no bubble are darkened. In all other cases, minus one (1) markwill be awarded.

    3. Q.12 to Q.14 are Paragraph type. Based upon the paragraph 3 multiple correct type questions have to beanswered. Each of these questions has four choices (A), (B), (C) and (D) out of which ONE OR MORE maybe correct. For each question, you will beawarded 4 marksif you have darkened only the bubble correspondingto the correct answer and zero mark if no bubble are darkened. No negative marks will be awarded in thissection.

    PART-B

    4. Q.1 isMatrix Match type question. Each question hasFourstatements (A, B, C, D) given in Column-Iand

Fivestatements (P, Q, R, S, T) given inColumn-II. Any given statement inColumn-Ican have correct matchingwith one or more statement(s) given inColumn-II. For example, if for a given question, statement B matches withthe statement given in Q and R, then for the particular question, against statement B darken the bubbles correspondingto Q and R in the OMR. For each row, you will be awarded 3 marks for each row in which you havedarkened the bubble(s) corresponding to the correct answer.

    PART-C

    5. Q.1 to Q.4 are Integer Type questions. The answer to each question is upto 4 digit ranging from

0 to 9999. The correct digit below the question number in the OMR is to be bubbled.

For each question, you will be awarded 5 marks if you darken the bubble corresponding to the correct

answer and zero mark if no bubble is darkened. For example, if for a given question, your answer is 25, then for the particular question, against question

number you must fill as 0025 in the OMR.No negative marks will be awarded in this section.6. Indicate the correct answer for each question by filling appropriate bubble in your answer sheet.

    7. Use of Calculator, Log Table, Slide Rule and Mobile is not allowed.

    8. The answers of the questions must be marked by shading the circle against the question by darkBlack Ball

Q.12 to Q.14 has four choices (A), (B), (C), (D) out of which ONE OR MORE may be correct.

    MILLIKAN'S OIL DROP EXPERIMENT

Millikan's basic idea was to measure the rate of fall of a single drop acted on by gravity and drag forces,

apply Stokes's law to determine the drop radius and mass, then to measure its upward velocity in an

opposing electric field, and hence determine the total charge on an individual drop. A schematic of the

Millikan apparatus is shown in Figure. Oil droplets charged by an atomizer are allowed to pass through

a small hole in the upper plate of a parallel-plate capacitor. If these droplets are illuminated from the side,

they appear as brilliant stars against a dark background, and the rate of fall of individual drops may be

    determined.

If an electrostatic field of several thousand volts per meter is applied to the capacitor plates, the drop

may move slowly upward, typically at rates of hundredths of a centimeter per second. Because the rate

of fall is comparable, a single droplet with constant mass and radius may be followed for hours, alter-

nately rising and falling, by simply turning the electric field on and off. These drops are falling at the

terminal velocity or rising at terminal velocity due to the influence of air resistance. In all the cases, the

buoyant force of air has been neglected. Assume that the electric field E is in the downward direction and

radius of the drop is r. The terminal velocity downwards with field off is v1

    and the terminal velocity

upwards with field on is v2. The charge on the drop can be suddenly changed by absorption of an ion

which does not change its mass or radius significantly.

Q.12 If the magnitude of v1

    and v2

are equal, the charge on the drop is

    (A) directly proportional to the radius r (B) directly proportional to cube of radius r

    (C) inversely proportional to the electric field (D) directly proportional to the electric field

Q.13 If the charge of the drop becomes lesser,

    (A) v1

    remains unchanged (B) v2

    increases

    (C) v2

    decreases (D) v1

    increases

Q.14 The velocity v1 of the drop downwards is 0.01 cm/s and velocity v2 of the drop upwards is 0.05 cm/s.The upwards moving drop suddenly gets an additional charge and its upwards terminal velocity reduces

to 0.04 cm/s. Choose the correct statement:

    (A) The additional charge is positive (B) The additional charge is negative

    (C) the ratio of initial and final charge is 5/4 (D) the ratio of initial and final charge is 6/5
