Art

Linking on from last week’s science, your task it to create a picture or sculpture of a

bird in the garden. You could use fallen petals, leaves, twigs, stones and blades of

grass to create your art work.

Remember it will need feathers, a beak, 2 legs, wings and maybe even a nest with

eggs in.

Art Artist of the Week: Keith Haring

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkTITbLQkh8&t=29s

Although not a name very familiar to most, his art is definitely recognisable.

Questions to ask: Do you like this art? Why? Why not? How does it make you feel?

Do you think these people are people he knows or characters he has created?

Activity: Can you create your own Keith Haring cartoon man? You could create one

using cardboard, cut it out and repeat this all over your piece of paper. You could

create a picture of your family using Keith Haring as inspiration. The video below

will give you some tips of how to draw like Keith.

For example, Africa is south of Asia and north of Antarctica.

Page 4: 11 Year 1: Home Working Book DFPA: Year 1 Week ......2020/01/06  · 11 DFPA: Year 1 Week commencing: 01.06.2020 Daily – do these every day.Reading: Make sure you read for a minimum

This is an image of the ‘one armed robot’ letter

family. All of these letters start by going down up and over’.

‘k’ are ascenders (tall letters) and ‘p’ is a descender (long letter).

English Lost and Found by Olivier Jeffers

Listen to the story ‘Lost and Found’

(YouTube Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers Annie’s

Workshop).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRAAQ8EWzig

story?

Activity: Create a story map by drawing the parts of the story. At the end of the

home working document is a story map template.

Challenge: Using your story map, retell the story to a family member.

Maths 1) Recognising the value of coins and notes

Star words: coin, pound, money, note, value, worth

If possible, show a £2, £5 note, £10 note and £20 note. Practise identifying each

note/coin.

Which is worth the most? How do you know?

Which is worth the least how do you know?

Page 5: 11 Year 1: Home Working Book DFPA: Year 1 Week ......2020/01/06  · 11 DFPA: Year 1 Week commencing: 01.06.2020 Daily – do these every day.Reading: Make sure you read for a minimum

Activity: on the table below, draw how many pound coins the coin or note is

worth. E.g. five-pound note: draw 5 £1 coins.

2) Finding the total

Star words: pence, total, add, value

If possible, show 2 different coins together e.g. a five pence coin and a one pence

coin.

How much money is there altogether?

It is important children identify the value rather than the amount of coins. There is

6 pence altogether because 5 pence add 1 pence is 6 pence.

Activity: Identify the total value of these sets of coins

Page 6: 11 Year 1: Home Working Book DFPA: Year 1 Week ......2020/01/06  · 11 DFPA: Year 1 Week commencing: 01.06.2020 Daily – do these every day.Reading: Make sure you read for a minimum

3) Comparing value

Star words: pence, coin, value, worth, total, add

Activity: Determine the total value of each set of coins. Remember to look at the

value of each coin and add them together. Then circle or tick the box for the set of

coins which has the greatest value.

Music Album of the Week: In Between Dreams

A chilled, summers day album.

Enjoy together and share whether you enjoy the tracks. How does it make you

feel? What makes this the same/ different to the other music we have listened to.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9clvxoOduy0

Additional challenge – Create a piece of artwork based on a favourite song. Listen

to your favourite song and draw/ paint/ colour how it makes you feel. Afterwards

you will have a pictorial representation of your favourite song.

PSHE The way we see ourselves is important. I’d like you try to see yourself through

someone else’s eyes. Think of your friends and family – the people who love you.

What do you think they would say are your best characteristics? Would they say

you were kind? Friendly? Draw a picture of yourself, and then write some words or

sentences around the outside that you might expect someone who loves you to say

about you.

If you’d rather, you can write them about yourself. What are the most wonderful

things about you?

We hope everyone is staying safe and well.
