Dear Parents and Care Givers, Welcome to all our new families starting at Gosnells Primary School this week, also to our returning families. I hope you have had a fantastic holiday period and return refreshed and revitalised for Term Three.
It is hard to believe returning to school this week signals the commencement of Semester Two. On a personal note, it is even harder for me to comprehend that I have in fact been at the helm of Gosnells Primary School now for four years!
Traditionally Term Three is extremely busy and 2017 shapes up as being no different with plenty of additional learning activities planned to supplement the classroom teaching and learning programs in place.
On Wednesday, 9 August we will be hosting a Book Week Incursion for all students from Pre-Primary to Year 6. 'Super Duper’ is an educational musical with a focus on Literacy and Numeracy and is sure to entertain all students.
From Book Week, our attention quickly shifts to one of our major performances of the year, as our Year 5/6 students prepare to perform at the Crown Concert Series on Monday, 21 August. Miss Johnson is working feverishly on putting together a stellar performance to honour ‘Matilda – The Musical’, acknowledging and celebrating the fine musical and performance talents of Gosnells Primary School students.
National Literacy and Numeracy Week runs from Monday, 28 August to Friday, 1 September. Mrs Lomas and her organising committee have planned a host of events across the week to celebrate the wonderful teaching and learning happening in our school during this time.
Our annual Open Night for parents and family will be held on Tuesday, 5 September and will once again provide parents with a fantastic insight into their children’s teaching and learning programs as well as the wonderful displays created by staff and students.
Finally, the term wraps up with our annual Faction Athletics Carnivals on Monday, 11 and Thursday, 14 September. All students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 will be commencing training for these carnivals during their Phys Ed classes with Mr De Antoni this week.
Keep an eye out for our fortnightly newsletter for further information on these and other activities planned for your children this term as they draw closer.
Regards Craig

P&C NEWS The P&C’s Disney Pixar Quiz Night was a huge success with 200 people attending and helping us raise $1,997 - thank you to all
who came and made this night so much fun, and congratulations to our many prize winners!
This year’s 5c challenge has begun. This is a great fundraiser that the kids can be involved in. The students in the class that raise
the most money will receive a yummy treat from the canteen. The 5c challenge runs for the duration of term 3 and we will be
posting a tally each fortnight on the P&C noticeboard. Get collecting now!
Feeling cold? Feeling hungry? Then the Canteen has you covered. The winter menu is full of warming winter food and the meals are full of hidden vegetables (shhh, don’t tell the kids). Remember, you can order before school from the canteen or online at Our Online Canteen. The school’s athletics carnival is not too far away, so now’s a great time to buy faction shirts from the uniform shop which is open
on Tuesday mornings from 8:15am to 9:00am and Thursday mornings from 8:30am to 9:15am.
As we now prepare for the rest of the year, we wish to remind you that we will be hosting
a Fathers’ Day stall and we are also planning our annual disco. In addition we are
continuing plans for a twilight market which will be held in Term 4. If you are interested in
hosting a stall, contact Candice through our Facebook page.
Finally, our WINTER APPEAL continues and we are seeking donations of blankets, jackets
and socks suitable for both adults and children. All items, either new or in good second-
hand condition, will be greatly appreciated (although perhaps not second-hand socks).
Donations can be taken to the Child and Parent Centre.

2017 CONCERT
Gosnells Primary School will be performing at the WAGSMS Concert on
MONDAY 21 AUGUST 2017
Tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster for the 2017 season and the following ticketing procedures will apply:
1. Tickets for ALL Crown concerts will go on sale at
10:00am on Monday 12 June 2017. Tickets are on a first in best seats basis. There is no limit to the number of tickets that can be purchased per transaction. Concerts have “Sold Out” in the past so to guarantee your attendance, early ticket purchase is recommended.
2. The ticket price is $25.00 per ticket for 2017. There is
no student or pensioner concession on the ticket price.
3. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster online
at www.ticketmaster.com.au or over the telephone on 136100. A booking fee per transaction (not ticket) of $8.05 along with a 1.95% credit card charge will be charged.
4. Tickets can be purchased directly at the Box Office at
Crown for $25.00 with no booking fee. Tickets at the Box Office (only) can be paid for via EFTPOS and cash with no fee involved. If paid for by credit card there will still be the 1.95% fee.
5. Wheelchair and/or special need tickets can only be
purchased over the telephone on 136100. Request must be made at the time of booking.
6. Should concerts not be “sold out” tickets will be
available to purchase on-line and at the box office at Crown up until the Concerts commence.
There are lots of waste-related activities happening over the next few
months. Next week, our reuse/recycling station will be up and running
outside room 13. This is a place where you can bring many items that are
usually unable to be placed in your household recycling bin. Once the
station is set up, we will send more information home with students.
Thanks to Rivers Regional Council for providing funding for this initiative.
As part of fundraising for graduation, the Year 6 students are collecting
aluminium soft drink cans which will then be sent to a metals recycler.
Please support the students by bringing cans from home (soft drink only).
Bins are in the Muster Area and outside Room 13.
More news to come from the Waste Wise Team
as the term progresses. To get involved, email us at
