6 ISQR2017 - Call for Papers - 12 - 13 July 2017

The Organizing Committee invites the community to submit proposals to the 2nd International

Symposium on Qualitative Research to be held in Salamanca (Spain), on days 12 and 13 July 2017. Spanish Renaissance city par excellence, Salamanca is a World Heritage Site offering its visitors an

unique experience, in every hidden corner and historic building. ISQR2017 will take place at the University of

Salamanca, which is preparing to celebrate its Eighth Centenary in 2018. Authors may submit proposals for presentation of papers that meet the goals and themes of the Symposium,

including original scientific articles addressing revisions to the state of the art research and new perspectives,

solutions and / or applications to real problems, empirical and / or evaluation, among others. IMPORTANT: being an international conference on Qualitative Research, 1/3 of the article should have a focus on

methodology. This approach should analyze the relation between research questions, theories and results and the

methodology used. The conclusions should reflect the importance of the methodology based on the results of the

work and the literature already published on the subject. Articles that do not meet this criterion will be returned

7 Seeking chapters for inclusion in Gender, Sexuality and Peace Education: Issues and Perspectives in

Higher Education, edited by Dr. Laura Finley for Information Age Press. Chapters are due March 30, 2017 and should be approximately 25 pages, with references (APA format). Please see

below for a brief description of the aim of the book. Contributions from college students or co-authored with

mainstreaming gender and sexuality into peace and conflict studies and, in particular, into peace education

curricula and programs. The book is designed to provide ideas and tools for those interested in or who are already

teaching in peace studies or peace education programs, offering a current and useful guide to classroom activities

and campus-wide initiatives focusing on important issues relevant to gender and sexuality. Further, the proposed

volume is recommended for administrators and faculty involved with helping transform campus cultures such that

they minimize gender-based violence or violence that is based on an individual’s perceived gender identity and

sexual orientation. Finally, this book aims to elevate the voices of college students who are affected by various

forms of gender-based violence and discrimination based on real or perceived gender identity or sexual

orientation. Most chapters include contributions from students who are making a difference on their campuses.

5 The East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes (EAPSI) 2017 Programme from 12 June 2017 to 4 August

2017- Singapore The programme is to provide the U.S. graduate students (U.S. Citizens or permanent residents) a research

experience. It is administered in the United States by the National Science Foundation (NSF) with co-sponsorship

in Singapore by the National Research Foundation (NRF). NTU has hosted 60 EAPSI fellows since 2008. The programme is highly regarded by many of the participants and we have received very positive feedback: “the personal and professional growth as well as potential future international collaborations make it an worthy program”, “The research and learning opportunities were top notch, and if I were allowed the opportunity to do it again, I would in a heartbeat“. 6 International Studies Association 58th Annual Convention – February 22-25, 2017, Baltimore, Maryland Call for Proposals: ISA Baltimore 2017 ISA is pleased to announce our Call for Proposals for our 2017 Annual Convention in Baltimore, Maryland, USA!

Our program chair for the convention is J. Andrew Grant. ISA Baltimore 2017 seeks paper, panel and roundtable submissions related to all areas of international studies and

world politics. Particularly welcome are submissions related to our 2017 convention theme, Understanding

Change in World Politics. Proposal submissions are now open and the proposal submission deadline is June 1st, 2016.

7 International Studies Association – ISA international Conference 2017 – Hong Kong - Call for Proposal – June 15-

18, 2017 Panels Panels must have a title, abstract and tag words as well as 4-5 papers (with a preference of 5 papers - complete

with title, tags, abstract and authors) and at least 1 chair and discussant. The Program Chair preference is that

panels have 5 papers. Titles need to be less than 50 words and abstracts need to be less than 200 words.

Please note that papers submitted on panels should not be submitted a second time independently of the panel.

If the panel is not accepted, the papers submitted on the panel go into the normal wait pool with all of our other

papers. Roundtables Roundtables are similar to panels but participants do not present papers. At least 1 chair and 4 participants are

4 Haverford College - CLIR Postdoctoral Fellow & Project Manager The Haverford College Libraries seeking a two-year Postdoctoral Fellow in Data Curation for Latin American and

Caribbean Studies to lead day-to-day programming and digitization efforts in collaboration with Grupo de Apoyo

Mutuo (GAM), located in Guatemala City, Guatemala. As Guatemala’s earliest human rights organization, GAM

has a unique set of textual, visual, and audio-video materials of significance to ongoing human rights trials,

scholars of transitional justice in Latin America, and Guatemala’s historical memory. This project will be a post-

custodial and cooperative project in which the Fellow will provide training and expert technical assistance with

the digitization and data maintenance process, advising on best practices for the digital archiving of materials and

provision of access to a local and global community. The Fellow will have the opportunity to work with Haverford

College faculty, undergraduate assistants, the Libraries’ Digital Scholarship team and research staff, and

Guatemalan partner organizations. The Fellow will be a resource to other faculty working in Latin American and

Caribbean studies, and as interest and time permits may extend their model and collaborate with other active

scholars. Required skills/experience

Fluent or near native command of Spanish. Ph.D. in a related discipline such as History, Political Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Human Rights or

Information Science. Previous experience with digitization or data curation.

Willingness to travel internationally and to work directly with project partners. Salary and Benefits Salary is $65,000 per year. Haverford College offers a robust benefits package which includes among other

with Olive Branch.
