Hello fellow PL’ers! I’m here to show you how I wrap up a month

in my Handbook which I use for my Project Life.

Before starting with my spread, I

make a little map of where I want my photos and journaling to go.

especially since I use digital items and work in a smaller format.

I tend to choose the pocket size based on the photos I’ve taken

are horizontal so I chose to use the 2 4x6 pocket page protec-

tors.

I open the photos in Photoshop and add my text. I usually like to add the date and a simple title.

I like to get all my work done in Photoshop in one sitting.

That’s where my map comes in handy.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that has a bunch a left over photos

from the month that didn’t make it in any spread. I still love them and

want to use them. The new overlay templates in the digital shop are a

perfect way to add all these mis-cellaneous photos in one pocket.

It’s fairly simple to use and I like that I can personalize it by changing colors and adding my own text.

I’m going to use the 6x8 template from the March kit. It’s a great, ba-

sic square collage.

I’ve got all the photos I want to use in the collage open in PS. I start by dragging my photo onto the tem-

plate.

Move your photo layer on top of the empty square layer. Choose CREATE CLIPPING MASK from the

layers drop down menu and your

ps & icks

Then resize your photo by choosing EDIT, TRANSFROM, RESIZE.

I continue to do this until all squares are full and I’m left with the 1

square with the provided title. Be-cause I want this to cap off the

month, I personalize it by adding my own text. I also change the

color to match my spread.

To change the color of the square, just double click the color box in the layers panel and choose your color.

To change your text, just delete the HELLO layer and add your text by

choosing the type tool.

TAfter I’m done with all my digital

the photos. I print at home using an Epson R340 inkjet printer + Epson

high gloss photo paper.

After I cut down my photos, I dig through my March SC Project Life

kit + pull some of my favorite papers from the main kit.

Again, this is where I work off my guide that I sketched but I leave

room for change. Sometimes when I see the photos and paper in front

of me, other ideas come to mind or some things don’t work.

I originally wanted the majority of the week on 1 spread but didn’t

account for the journaling on day 27. That’s something I’m learning as

a PL newb.

Now that I need to add journaling, I choose a 4x6 card with the Amper-

sand graphic in the middle but it’s not working for me. I decide to cut the ampersand out using an Xacto

blade, date it (which I know has the incorrect date) and tape it to the

backside of a 4x6 PL card from the kit.

Taping it on the side allows me to add the journaling I want. Now it’s

of the BG letters from a previous SC kit to correct the month.

This is a shot from late at night when I usually work on my PL. I mostly

spend this time piecing things to-gether. I like to get the majority of

my work done at this time because it’s quiet and I can spread out my mess and not worry about toddler hands running away with my sup-

plies.

that holds days 25 – 27. As you can see, I want the photos to dominate

the page and have the journaling + elements add to the story.

I start the next spread with day 28. This is easy to put together since I

was originally going to put it under day 27. Problem is I’m left with an

empty 4x6 spot below that I didn’t include in my sketch. I go through

my Iphone photos + spot something

to that week. Something I actually forgot about so this turned out to

be a happy mistake.

I printed a photo that was for #tbt (throw back Thursday). I don’t know

the origin to this but it’s basically posting an old photo of yourself on

Instagram.

My mother sent me some old pho-tos of myself and my brother…

ones I’ve never seen before. I could have scanned it but I knew that 1. It would take more time than I had and 2. The Iphone photo works just

as well if not better.

I start by placing some papers be-hind the photo to see which grabs

me. Everything seemed too busy for me and the photo itself with the background wasn’t working for me

either. I ended up cutting the photo of me and my mom from the actual

printed photo.

I placed it on the backside of a 4x6 card ( I really do love these neutral backsides) and added a few strips patterned paper just to throw in a

little interest and color.

Doing 4x6 cards this way works for me. I have a hard time with that

size but I don’t want to waste those page protectors or the cards.

This is a tip I learned from my friend Jamaica Edgell. She uses large

envelopes to house extra bits that

Things like receipts or lists or what-ever you saved from that month.

I’m often left with several pieces of everyday ephemera that I don’t

want to part with.

collage of photos in a 6x8 page protector.

That’s it for February! Feels good to get a whole month done and start

anew.
