• 100 to 150 characters• Individual summary of the page (a sales message, a teaser, a call to action…)• Should contain keywords• Important factor for the click rate

• Put descriptive ALT- tags on images• It describes your image to search engines and when a user searches for a certain image this is a key determining factor for a match• More important for crawlers than Title-tag for Images• Internet Explorer It appears by hovering over an image• Also important for blind and sight-impaired people

• Search engines favor keywords and phrases appearing right at the top of the page (the top 25%)

• A definite statement that summarizes what is contained on that page

• Rich in keywords and phrases, direct, clear and constantly calling the user to action

• The first sentence/paragraph is of extraordinary importance to Google (try a long sentence with keywords)

• generally aim for at least 250-300 words per page• Keyword concentration of one article 4 -7 % (for every one

hundred words, you should mention your keyword four to seven times)

• Use keyword synonyms, plural forms, word variations• Use keywords in bold or strong tags or underlined

• End the article with a question, try to engage the reader e.g. So what is your favorite bar in Barcelona? Any suggestions

• Support the text with images, videos or presentations• You can use:

– Pictures owned by SuiteLife– Flickr pictures under “Creative Commons” license– Videos owned by Suitelife– Videos on Youtube.com, vimeo.com, ….– Presentations on Slideshare.net,….

• Use keywords in image file names• Use keywords in image alt attributes

Internal Linking

• Link new articles to old articles

• never use "see here" as link-text, use a description which the reader will find behind the link

• You can also link via a picture (reader likes clicking on pictures)

• Article proposals at the end of each article (we use a plugin which automates this)

• Always check links (no broken links) !!!

Be honest to Google

• Don't duplicate content e.g. publish an article on – http://www.site.de/nachrichten/article573622 and the same one on – http://www.site.de/nachrichten/article573622/?view=print

• never change the URL of a published article!

• Don't use e.g. white text on a white background
