• Cooperative Education in Recreation (with D. Anderson) • Wilderness in American Life (with D. Anderson) Courses I significantly revised at UND: • Principles of Therapeutic Recreation • Therapeutic Recreation for the Elderly • Leisure Education and Counseling • Recreation for Special Populations (now called Recreation and Individuals with Disabilities) • Leisure and Society (with D. Anderson and T. Schroeder) • Practicum: Leadership in Recreation (with D. Anderson) Major curriculum activities at UND: • In 1990 and 1997, the RLS faculty, including myself, worked to significantly update and improve the

Recreation and Leisure Services curriculum through the University curriculum process. The resulting curriculum was approved and implemented in 1992 and 1997. The curriculum was designed to be grounded in a liberal arts education, yet meet professional accreditation and certification requirements. We completed the self-study for NRPA/AALR accreditation.

• Writing Across the Curriculum at UND: The RLS faculty, including myself, made a coordinated effort to incorporate writing, at increasing levels of complexity and demand, in all aspects of the RLS curriculum. We developed and implemented a portfolio advising system that helps students assess improvements in written communication as well as mastery of the subject matter. We implemented a writing consultant specifically for our majors in the University Writing Center.

• Development of the Recreation and Leisure Services Advisory Committee at UND: The RLS faculty, including myself, planned, developed and implemented an advisory committee to assist us with involving the profession in all areas of the Recreation and Leisure Services Program to improve its relevance and quality. The Advisory Committee consists of nine prominent professionals from varying aspects of our profession as well as two students in the program at UND. It was formed in 1990 and has met regularly since that date.

• Alumni Survey at UND: Developed, administered, and compiled the results of an alumni survey in 1990 (with Dr. S. Modisett and D. Anderson, RLS faculty) and in 1996 and 1997 (with students). The purpose of the survey was to learn the perceptions of alumni about the quality and relevance of the RLS Program/curriculum.
