Toyo University’s Hakusan Campus is located in the heart of Tokyo. Although we’re just a few subway stops away from many of Tokyo’s most famous sightseeing areas, such as Shibuya, Akihabara, and Ueno, Hakusan Campus offers a calm atmosphere conducive to learning. Sleek, modern architecture is offset by trees, open space, and several shrines and temples nearby. Like the city where it is located, Hakusan Campus is modern and cosmopolitan with a quiet side just around every corner.

1. Location

The International House (I-House) offers students safe, comfortable, affordable housing minutes from campus, while the classrooms, computer labs, lecture halls, and other facilities create an excellent learning environment.

Japanese Cultural Events and Interactions with Japanese StudentsInternational students at Toyo University have unlimited opportunities to experience Japanese culture firsthand.

Students can experience authentic Japanese life by spending the weekend doing a homestay with a Japanese family in the inaka (countryside) of Gunma prefecture. Enjoying home-cooked meals,

playing with homestay family children, hiking in the countryside, and soaking in hot springs are just a few of the activities that make the Itakura Homestay one of the international students’ favor ite experiences during their time in Japan. During the same weekend, students also take part in several traditional cultural activities, such as a tea ceremony, attending a lecture on Buddhism, listening to (and playing) taiko drums, pounding rice into mochi, and more.

If you would rather just watch sumo, we’ve got you covered. Every winter, exchange students attend the annual Grand Sumo Tournament held at the world famous Ryougoku Kokugikan Sumo Hall.
