uniform has finished.
Hats
Green Bradbury School Hats are to be worn. We are currently looking at sourcing a new fabric for the
school hats to assist with the fading issue. If you require support with purchasing the correct uniform,
please do not hesitate to contact me.

We are now taking enrolments for Kindergarten for 2019.
If you have a child who is turning 5 on or before July 31st
2019, they can start next year. Please come and see one of
our friendly office staff for an enrolment package.
Kindergarten orientation will commence in Term 4. If you
know of any new families in the area or families that have
school-aged children starting Kindergarten next year please
let them know they can come and enrol. Alternatively, if a
student is not returning to Bradbury in 2019 can you please
let their teacher or the office know as this will assist with
planning and an easier transition for students in the new year.
Friday 19th October Back to Bradbury 50th Anniversary Twilight fair. Please see our Facebook and webpage pages for an advertisement that our drama club have made.
School OPAL Cards
Many students are failing to tap on and off the buses with their Opal Cards.
As a result, their use of the system is not registering. This will result in the
cutting of many of the bus services if students do not start using it
properly.
Please make sure your ride is registered by tapping.
NO TAP = NO RIDE!
Parent Conference
Last Thursday Mrs Elvery and Mrs Sivell attended the Annual Parent
Conference at Airds High School with 8 of our parents.
There were over 200 parents and staff from a number of schools across
Campbelltown and Macarthur in attendance.
It was a fun filled day of student performances and guest speakers. This
year’s theme was “The Power in You.”
Parent feedback was positive and our parents stated it allowed them to be
reflective on some of the stories shared and how they could use these ideas
in their own lives.
Mrs Campbell and some of our primary choir joined our community of schools
to perform “Hall of Fame” at this event. They represented our school proudly.
Buzzie Bees
Last Friday, Buzzie Bees transition to school group had a great time visiting
KE for a story. Our transition to school group meets every Friday in Room 4
from 9:00-10:30am with Mrs King.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – 3/4F
Encouraging Critical Higher Level Thinking Processes Students in Stage 2, have been involved in STEM family projects since the beginning of Term 2. These
have been designed to create meaningful connections between the school and home for Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematical processes. Design tasks are differentiated to meet the
needs of individual students and provide opportunities for enrichment and project based learning.
Our project design challenge for August involved students designing and creating a zoo enclosure for
an animal of their choice. We were very excited to see what the students would come up with. The
results were amazing! Students used mainly recycled materials to build their enclosures and wrote an
information report based on their animal, this also included specific built environment needs of that
animal. Photographs of their wonderful creations

STEM Projects 3D
The students of 3D and their parents made a fantastic effort with their STEM projects. They had to
design and create a zoo enclosure, considering features that would suit their animals’ needs.
Kindergarten STEM Lesson
In Week 6, Kindergarten classes enjoyed participating in their first STEM lesson. As part of their
Geography Unit on People Live in Places, all the children across the five classes were given the task of
designing and making a house. Working together in groups of three to four they used the materials
supplied by their RFF teachers, Mrs Gopallawa and Mrs Edwards. It was with great enthusiasm that the
groups of children used paddle pop sticks, straws, plastic cups, play dough and cardboard boxes to
construct their fabulous creations. The attention to detail and expression of creativity was great to
see as was the team work. Here are some of the finished constructions:
K/1M Enjoyed Learning about Aboriginal Culture
K/1M took part in learning Aboriginal culture from Sienna-Estelle and her dad (Rhett) as well as her
little brother Mindarie. Sienna-Estelle and Rhett are both descendants of the Mandandanji, Ngemba
and Wiradjuri people.
K/1M learnt about the importance of acknowledging country and the diversity in Aboriginal people and
nations. Sienna-Estelle and Rhett taught some words from their different languages including how to
say hello and goodbye.
Rhett also showed K/1M one of the techniques used by Aboriginal people to light fire as well as
partaking in a special smoking ceremony.
As part of the ceremony K/1M were invited to be painted in ochre from the Dharawal nation.
Students were taught the significance of the design and the paint as well as the meaning behind a
smoking ceremony.
A smoking ceremony aims to cleanse an area, person or place. A smoking ceremony rids the surrounds
of negative energy and creates positive energy. A smoking ceremony is an ancient tradition still
practised commonly today and has many health benefits. A smoking ceremony, ultimately, is a gift.
Attached to the ceremony K/1M learnt about some of the values Aboriginal people lived by and
practised in Australia for thousands of years, and still do, such as;
· Respect · Patience · Observation
Along with this, K/1M also learnt about some of the values of the plants in the newly established
Aboriginal garden and got to learn how to wash their hands and make soap using certain leaves.
Book Character Parade

Celebrating Stage One Writing!
Stage One have been busy learning to write using the “The Seven Steps to Writing Success” Program.
Each fortnight they have been focusing on learning a different step. Below are some examples of
‘Step 4 – Show Don’t Tell.’ In this step the children were showing how the character was feeling
through descriptive language. Instead of writing, ‘I was scared…’ the children described how the
character’s body was reacting and how they were feeling. It has been lovely visiting the Stage One
rooms and seeing the children excited and engaged in their writing.
Mrs Milne
My arms were so tired, I couldn’t keep this up for much longer. I heard its big, loud feet stomping in
the cold shallow water. I shot arrows at the dinosaur, but it was indestructible. I felt like I was as
frozen as ice. I could see his sharp teeth and big head charging towards me. His eyes were staring at
me with rage. I felt my heart in my chest pumping so hard that even Mars could hear it. Tara 2B
There was a wave of fear in my body like a marathon runner, running around inside of me as the T Rex
was chasing us. It was thundering behind us like a living, breathing racing car! Spencer 2B
My body was trembling with fright. Paddle faster!! Paddle, paddle, faster!! My heart was beating like a
flashing storm. I heard a huge, ginormous ROAR!!!! It was so loud everything started to shake like an
earthquake. Goosebumps popped out on my skin, my eyes were wide open with fear. Razaan 2C
I felt like there was a bulldog in my stomach as the dinosaur was about to eat me. Its roar was as loud
as a Lamborghini speeding faster than a Porsche in a race. Roar! Roar! Nattaan 1C
I was shaking with fear and I had sweat dripping down my head. My throat was dryer than a desert.
My heart was pounding like a cheetah as I was shouting for help. I had goose bumps all over my body
as the dinosaur was racing up to us and we were paddling like the wind. I had tears rolling down my
eyes and I was breathing so deeply that I was super scared. I covered my eyes so that I could think
of a happy place. Maali 1/2H (Year 2)
It stormed like thunder towards us, so I paddled and paddled and paddled. My heart raced, and a wave
of fear grabbed me. I sweated like an old man, it was like my heart was in a rocket ship about to blast
off. Eamon K/1M (Year 1)
As I was in the fast, rapid water escaping the dinosaur, my body was shaking. My teeth were
chattering with fright and I had goose bumps. Amelie 1L
The wind whipped my face like a mighty storm whirling around me. The burning sun shines and I feel
hot. I clutch the freezing, cold metal so tight my knuckles go white. I am amazed at the beautiful view
upon the sky like a pretty pattern. Briannon 1/2H (Year 1)
As the wind blew in my face, I jumped up and down and with a grin from ear to ear. I felt amazed.
Oscar K/1M (Kinder)
As I jumped up and down I felt like I was on cloud nine. The swirling wind flew across my face and I
was freezing like a snowman. Calin K/1M (Kinder)
One late, late night, I snuck out of my house and I was attempting to steal an egg from the legendary
bird. I snuck into its territory hoping that it wouldn’t spot me in the long grass. My body was shivering
like I was going to be eaten. I ducked down as it looked around. The legendary bird heard something. I
ran as fast as my legs could take me. I quickly ran to the nest and got the egg. As I ran the egg got
heavier and heavier then it was like carrying a boulder. Fynn 1L
I crept away from my mum’s house on a misty night. Then I was in the territory of the legendary bird
hoping it would not see me. I shook like a tornado because I felt like I was going to be history. I was
biting my nails. The mummy bird pecked at me, it chased me, but I got away. James K/1M (Kinder)
Once Jason lost one of his toys under his bed. As he crouched down, he heard the cracking of his
toys. He felt frightened. His eyes were bigger than a marble and his lungs were breathing like an air
pump at top speed, as he peeped down onto the floor. Jason heard the scratching as he looked down
and he wondered what it was. Zarif 2T
Creak, creak, scratch, scratch, scratch was the sound I heard as I lay in bed. My body was frozen like
I was a statue. My heart was beating like it was going to explode. My teeth were chattering like I was
going to be frozen in an igloo. I could not keep my eyes open. Aleira 1L
