CBSA Environment

Top 20 Ports of Entry (POE) process over 80% of the land border traffic;

Over the past decade CBSA has focused capital investment on the large volume ports of entry with a focus on the Designated Commercial Offices (DCO);

The majority of the CBSA’s larger DCO ports have been, or are in the process of being redeveloped and are functional and provide adequate serviceability;

CBSA – Challenges

50% of the CBSA inventory of smaller ports is over 35 years of age and can not adequately support new program initiatives such as the Doubling-Up;

Competition for limited resources;

Ensure that investment required to address the rust-out situation at the smaller and remote ports is undertaken without compromising the condition and functionality of the major DCO ports.
