Hebrews 2:1 NKJV1 “Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.” (intellectually convinced)

Page 19: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

1 Don’t drift.2 Those who received

the most light will receive the harshest judgment.

3 I will reign with Christ, my brother!

Page 20: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

God’s original plan was for man to have dominion over the whole earth.

When man sinned he lost his crown.

Page 21: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Satan then became the prince of the earth, of the system of the world.

"The whole world lies in the power of the evil one" (1 John 5:19).

Page 22: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Satan rules the cursed earth, which in turn rules sinful man. *When man lost his crown he lost mastery of the earth as well as mastery of himself.

Page 23: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He was totally sinful and became a slave to sin.*However, a day is coming when the dominion that man lost will be given back to redeemed man again!

Page 24: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

God's redeemed ones, His children, will never again be subject to death, they will be like the angels who cannot die (Luke 20:36).

Page 25: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Since one of the key differences between men and angels is the ability to suffer death, it is important to understand what it means to die.

Page 26: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://s9.postimage.org/vkpx2su9r/untitled.png

Death is not, as commonly thought, the cessation of existence because a man's soul is eternal, immortal.

Page 27: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://stefespag.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/BodySoulSpirit.png

What transpires at death is the separation of a man's soul and his spirit from his physical body.

Page 28: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Genesis 35:18a NKJV18 And so it was, as her (Rachael) soul was departing (for she died),

Page 29: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

James 2:26 NKJV26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Page 30: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.608041389426674233&pid=1.7

Death is simply the departure of the soul and the spirit from the physical body.

Page 31: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

1 Corinthians 5:6-8 NKJV6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord.

Page 32: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

1 Corinthians 5:6-8 NKJV

Hebrews 4:12 NKJV12 For the word of God isliving and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, …

Hebrews 4:12 NKJV

Page 36: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Your body is made up of 37.2 trillion cells, seventy-eight organs and eleven systems. *We truly are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).

Page 37: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Your body tells you what is going on in the world through your five senses.

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Page 39: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Your soul (personality) consists of your mind, your will and your emotions.

Man not only has a soul; he is a living soul.

Page 40: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The Bible says: “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7).

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Page 43: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

You don’t only have a spirit, you are a spirit!

Your spirit refers to the real you, the inner man, the immortal you.

Page 44: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://whatyouhavealwaysknown.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Spiritual-Being.jpg

Page 45: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Your spirit expresses itself through your soul and your spirit lives in your body. *It also refers to that part of you where you make contact with God.

Page 46: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

It is the part that needs to be born again in order to live eternally with God.*So, who or what are you? **You are a spiritual being

with a soul living in a body.

Page 47: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The real you is fashioned according to the image of God.

Page 48: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Genesis 1:26a NKJV26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Ourlikeness;

Page 49: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

You are crowned with glory and honor (see Psalm 8) and meantto live eternally with your Creator.

Page 50: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Please note … you are meant to live forever with God … but that does not mean that you are going to (don’t drift)!

Page 51: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Whether you are going to live eternally with your Creator depends on one thing only:

What have you done with Jesus Christ?

Page 52: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Have you accepted Him to be your Savior and Lord?

Page 53: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

No religion, no good deeds, no wishful thinking, NOTHING can take the place of the choice you need to make to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.

Page 54: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Man is designed to be the dwelling place of God, and for that reason he is a unique kind of creature.

Page 55: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He is not just an animal, and he is not designed to be operating only on a soul level.*The “spirit” receives impressions through the body and the soul.

Page 56: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Only one thing stands as a guard at the door of man’s spirit, and that is his own will.

Page 57: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

When the will is surrendered, the Holy Spirit takes up His abode in the spirit of man. *When that transaction takes place we will know it, for, says Paul:

Page 58: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Romans 8:16-17 NKJV16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

Page 59: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Romans 8:16-17 NKJV

Page 60: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

In John 4:24 NKJV, Jesus said:24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Page 61: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

In the new kingdom, redeemed man will reign over the angels.

Page 62: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Hebrews 2:8-9 NKJV8 “You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him.

Page 64: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

9 But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.

Hebrews 2:8-9 NKJV

Page 65: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The ultimate curse of man's lost destiny is death.

Page 66: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Genesis 2:17 NKJV17“but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

Page 67: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The cross conquered the curse.

Man's destiny, restricted by sin, has been recovered by Christ.

Page 68: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The kingdom will be restored and man will be given the crown again.

*But how can it happen?

Page 69: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The only payment for sin is death -

"For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).

Page 70: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The only way man can ever be a king again is to have the curse removed.

The only way the curse can be removed is for the penalty to be paid.

Page 71: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

If man is to be restored to reign as a king, he must die — and be resurrected a new man with sovereign qualities.

But we still ask, "How?"

Page 72: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The moment that I put my faith in Jesus Christ, at that moment I was identified with Christ.

I died with Him on the cross (Galatians 2:20).

Page 73: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

*For every believer, the curse has been removed. *Every believer is now a king. *We have not inherited our dominion yet, but the crown has been restored.

Page 74: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

We were crucified with Him and were buried with Him, and He has raised us up to a new life.

It is life with the curse removed.

Page 75: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Revelation 5:9-10 NKJV9 And they sang a new song, saying:“You are worthy to take the scroll,And to open its seals; For You were slain,And have redeemed us to God by Your blood

Page 76: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”

Page 78: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

If you have been groping around, trying to figure out why you exist, I hope you know the reason now.

There is no longer a reason for us to be slaves.

Page 79: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

There is no reason for us to be paupers.

There is only reason for us to be kings.*Men today still ask, "What is man?"

Page 80: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

How could Jesus be greater than angels if angels never die?

How could He be a Savior if He Himself were killed?

Page 81: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Christ was made for a little while lower than the angels so that He could become a man.

He became a man so that He could die.

Page 82: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://www.gurdjieff-internet.com/images/jesus_on_cross.jpg

He came to die because His death, and only His death, couldaccomplish man's salvation.

Those tiny handsfashioned by the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb were made to take two great nails.

Those little feet were made to climb a hill and be nailed to a cross.

Page 85: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

That sacred head was made to wear a crown of thorns, and that tender body wrapped in swaddling clothes was made to be pierced by a spear.

Page 86: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

For this Christ came to earth.

His death was the furthest thing from an accident.

Page 87: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

And, despite the malignant evil that crucified Him, His death was the furthest thing from a tragedy.

Page 88: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

It was God's ultimate plan for His Son and His ultimate gift for mankind.

It (God’s plan) pleasedGod to crush Him –(Isaiah 53:10).

Page 89: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Jesus Christ came to die to remove the curse so that man could regain dominion; thus His death was the most purposeful in all history.

Page 90: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=HN.608055073195036246&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0

If He was to remove the curse on man He had to take the place of man by becoming a man Himself.

Page 91: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

THE EXTENT OF HISHUMILIATION

We see the extent of Christ's humiliation in His death.*Angels cannot die; but Jesus came to die.

Page 92: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He went so far beneath angels that He did something that they could never do.

His death was not easy nor costless.

Page 93: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

It was a horrific death.

Christ's exit from the land of the living was not calm and peaceful, but was accompanied by outward torture and inner agony.

Page 94: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=HN.608035741548872967&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0

The death He tasted was the curse of sin.

Page 95: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

What Jesus felt while dying on the cross was the total agony of every soul in hell for all eternity put together, suffered in a few hours.

Page 96: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

All the punishment for all the sin of all time — that was the depth of His death.

He was guilty of no sin, yet He suffered for all sin.

Page 97: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Christ endured for a few hours what will take an eternity for unrepentant sinners to endure.

Page 98: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Hebrews 2:10 NKJVBringing Many Sons to Glory10 For it was fitting for Him, for Whom are all things and by Whom are all things,

Page 99: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Hebrews 2:10 NKJV

Page 100: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The Greek word for captain is archegos (arkhay GOS), literally, a "pioneer" or "leader." *It was commonly used of a pioneer who blazed a trail for others to follow.

Page 101: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=HN.608012226595914046&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0

As the supreme Archegos, Christ does not stand at the rear giving orders.

Page 102: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He is always before us, as perfect Leader and perfect Example.

Page 103: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

As the great Pioneer of redemption, He blazed the trail through death and resurrection.

Page 104: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He said, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die" (John 11:25-26).

Page 105: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

God made Christ for a little while lower than the angels so that He could come down to us, be our Archegos — our spiritual Pioneer and Example —and bring us to the Father.

Hebrews 2:14-15 NKJV14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Page 109: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

In v.14, “as the children have partaken of flesh and blood”… *Our English word, partaken, is from the Greek word, metecho(metEKHo), which has to do with taking hold of something that is not naturally one's own kind.

Page 110: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

We by nature are flesh and blood; Christ was not.

Page 111: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Yet He willingly took hold of something which did not naturally belong to Him.

Page 112: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He added to Himself our nature in order that He might die in our place, and that we might take hold of the divine nature that did not belong to us (see 2 Peter 1:3-4).

Page 113: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

2 Peter 1:3-4 NKJV3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him Who called us by glory and virtue,

4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

The Son of God became the Son of Man so that sons of men might become sons of God.

Page 116: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://hopeforallmin.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/broken-chains.jpg

Obviously Satan's power over us had to be broken in order for us to be brought to God.

Page 117: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Satan's primary power over man and supreme weapon against him is death. *Sin gives Satan his powerover us; but the power itself is death.

Page 118: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

We children were once held in servitude by our enemy, Satan.

Since we were human, our Captain had to become human and die for us, in order to rescue us.

Page 119: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

But by doing so He was able to destroy the devil.

The author of Hebrews did not mean that Satan ceased to exist or to be active.

Page 120: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Rather the word he used for "destroy" (katargeo –kahtarGEHoh) indicates the annulment of his power over those whom Christ redeems.

Page 121: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

In speaking of the devil as wielding the power of death, the writer meant that Satan uses people's fear of death to enslave them to his will.

Page 122: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://itsallaboutmemovie.com/wp-content/themes/iaam/img/iaam-logo.jpg

Often people make wrong moral choices out of their intense desire for self-preservation.

Page 123: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

We are reminded that we are no longer subject to such slavery (fear of death) and that we can face death with the same confidence in God that our Captain had.

Page 124: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Page 125: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

So in this regard, why did Christ become man? *Why did He die? *That through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.

Page 126: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

1 John 3:8b NKJV8b For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 3:8b NKJV

Page 127: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The only way to destroy Satan was to rob him of his weapon, death —physical death, spiritual death, eternal death.

Page 128: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Satan knew that God required death for us because of sin.

Death had become the most certain fact of life.

Page 129: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Satan wants to hold onto men until they die, because once they are dead, the opportunity for salvation is gone forever.

Page 130: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Men cannot escape after death.

So God had to wrest from Satan the power of death and for just that purpose Jesus came.

Page 131: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

If you have a more powerful weapon than your enemy, his weapon becomes useless. *You cannot fight against a tank with a bow and arrow.

Page 132: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Satan's weapon is extremely powerful.

But God has a weapon even more powerful —eternal life — and with it Jesus destroyed death.

Page 133: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://i.vimeocdn.com/video/459907579_640.jpg

The way to eternal life is through resurrection, but the way to resurrection is through death.

Page 134: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

v14 -"That through deathHe might destroy him."

Christ Jesus came not only through birth -- His birth didn't save anyone -- but through death.

Page 135: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_72h9TtxpiWM/TOP6whnyYUI/AAAAAAAAAfw/Duas5C-BR88/s1600/born%2Bto%2Bdie_t_nv.jpg

Page 136: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

It is by His death He saves us, not by His birth or by His life. *His death brought to us salvation and deliverance from spiritual and eternal death.

Page 137: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pBW6ExHG4CM/T4BfJ4H2rGI/AAAAAAAACWo/p-6K9qCDAVM/s1600/empty-tomb-of-jesus.jpg

So Jesus had to experience death before He could be resurrected and thereby give us life.

Page 138: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/3d/8c/ec/3d8cec6fdf84532b4d17ad92c61896dd.jpg

He went into death, through death, and came out on the other side, thereby conquering it.

Page 139: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Then He could say, "Because I live, you shall live also" (John 14:19).

The resurrection of Jesus Christ provides the believer with eternal life.

Page 140: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

It is the only thing that could ever have done it. *Death is the power of Satan's dominion, and when Jesus shatteredSatan's power He also shattered his dominion.

Page 141: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

The thing that terrifiespeople more than anything else is death.

It is a horrible fear, the king of terrors.

Page 142: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

But when we receive Jesus Christ, death holds no more fear. *We have been released from bondage to the fear of death, and, instead, look forward to it.(1Cor 5)

Page 143: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Page 144: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

We say with Paul, "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (Phil 1:21) and "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?" (1 Cor 15:55).

Page 145: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Death no longer holds any fear, for it simply releases us into the presence of our Lord.

Why?

Page 146: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Because we have placed our hands into the hands of the Conqueror of death, and our Captain will lead us into one side of the grave and out the other.

Page 147: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He never could have done it if He had not becomefor a little while lower than the angels first.

Hebrews 2:16-18 NKJV16 For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.

Page 150: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

Page 151: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Hebrews 2:16-18 NKJV

Page 152: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Christ did not come to redeem angels but men. *Again the writer of Hebrews answers the question, "If Jesus is God, why did He become a man?"

Page 153: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He came: to substitute for men, to reconcile men to God, to fit them for God's

presence and to destroy death.

Page 154: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

But beyond that He also came to help the reconciled when they are tempted.

Page 155: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He wanted to feel everything we feel so that He could be a merciful and understanding, as well as a faithful, High Priest.

Remember that, wherever you may go, He has been there before you.

Page 158: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Page 160: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Page 164: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He was sarcastic, He was grieved, He was troubled, He was overcome by future events, He exercised faith, He read the Scriptures, He prayed, He sighed in His heart

He sighed in His heart when He saw another man in illness, and He cried when His heart ached.

Page 166: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Jesus felt everything we will ever feel — and more.

For example, He felt temptation to a degree that we could not possibly experience.

Page 167: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Most of us never know the full degree of resistible temptation, simply because we usually succumb long before that degree is reached.

Page 168: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

But since Jesus never sinned, He took the full measure of every temptation that came to Him. *And He was victorious in every trial.

Page 173: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

What a Savior He is. There is no other! There is one thing this study in the Book of Hebrews should achieve, it is to make us very conscious that we have a

Page 174: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

High Priest in Heaven Who is on our side! *He is alive at this moment. **He is at God's right hand, and, best of all, He is available to us.

Page 175: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

He knows us, He understands us, and we can take our burdens to Him at any time, regardless of our location or situation.

Page 176: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

When that dark moment comes, and you and I go down into the valley of the shadow of death, we have a great High Priest up yonder Who will help us.

Page 177: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

No matter what happens, no matter what the test, He is able to help us.

We do not use His services as we should.

Page 178: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

We forget about Him and try to fight our battles alone.

My friend, He is availableand He wants us to come to Him.

Page 179: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Here is the whole summary of Hebrews in one sentence.

Ours is the High Priest of high priests, and He is seated (it is finished!).

The Plan of Hope & Salvation

Romans 3:23 NKJV23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23a NKJV23a For the wages of sin is death,

Page 182: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Death in this life (the first death) is 100%. Even Jesus, the only one who doesn’t deserve death, died in this life to pay the penalty for our sins. The death referred to in Romans 6:23a is the second death explained in Revelation 21:8.

Page 183: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Revelation 21:8 NKJV8 “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Page 184: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Romans 5:8 NKJV8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 6:23b NKJV23b but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Page 185: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Revelation 21:7 NKJV7 “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.”

Romans 10:9-10 explains to us how to accept Jesus as our Savior.

Page 186: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Romans 10:9-10 NKJV9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Page 187: 09 September 21, 2014, Hebrews 2;14-18 Why One Of Us

Romans 10:13 NKJV13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
