Hebrews 2:1 NKJV1 “Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.” (intellectually convinced)
1 Don’t drift.2 Those who received
the most light will receive the harshest judgment.
3 I will reign with Christ, my brother!
God’s original plan was for man to have dominion over the whole earth.
When man sinned he lost his crown.
Satan then became the prince of the earth, of the system of the world.
"The whole world lies in the power of the evil one" (1 John 5:19).
Satan rules the cursed earth, which in turn rules sinful man. *When man lost his crown he lost mastery of the earth as well as mastery of himself.
He was totally sinful and became a slave to sin.*However, a day is coming when the dominion that man lost will be given back to redeemed man again!
God's redeemed ones, His children, will never again be subject to death, they will be like the angels who cannot die (Luke 20:36).
Since one of the key differences between men and angels is the ability to suffer death, it is important to understand what it means to die.
http://s9.postimage.org/vkpx2su9r/untitled.png
Death is not, as commonly thought, the cessation of existence because a man's soul is eternal, immortal.
http://stefespag.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/BodySoulSpirit.png
What transpires at death is the separation of a man's soul and his spirit from his physical body.
http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/a4/20/24/a420244bd85f1ecaca6d1e0fed1a4a13.jpg
Genesis 35:18a NKJV18 And so it was, as her (Rachael) soul was departing (for she died),
James 2:26 NKJV26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=HN.608041389426674233&pid=1.7
Death is simply the departure of the soul and the spirit from the physical body.
1 Corinthians 5:6-8 NKJV6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord.
7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
1 Corinthians 5:6-8 NKJV

1 Thessalonians 5:23
1 Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV12 For the word of God isliving and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, …
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
Your body is made up of 37.2 trillion cells, seventy-eight organs and eleven systems. *We truly are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).

Your body tells you what is going on in the world through your five senses.

1 Thessalonians 5:23
Your soul (personality) consists of your mind, your will and your emotions.
Man not only has a soul; he is a living soul.
The Bible says: “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7).

1 Thessalonians 5:23
You don’t only have a spirit, you are a spirit!
Your spirit refers to the real you, the inner man, the immortal you.
http://whatyouhavealwaysknown.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Spiritual-Being.jpg
Your spirit expresses itself through your soul and your spirit lives in your body. *It also refers to that part of you where you make contact with God.
It is the part that needs to be born again in order to live eternally with God.*So, who or what are you? **You are a spiritual being
with a soul living in a body.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_MAhR9rbvXCE/TTwXvR4dzVI/AAAAAAAAAHQ/U0KY_Uny-xQ/s1600/God+Created+Man%2521+Genesis+1+verse+26+%2526+Genesis+2+verse+7.jpg
The real you is fashioned according to the image of God.
Genesis 1:26a NKJV26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Ourlikeness;
You are crowned with glory and honor (see Psalm 8) and meantto live eternally with your Creator.
Please note … you are meant to live forever with God … but that does not mean that you are going to (don’t drift)!
Whether you are going to live eternally with your Creator depends on one thing only:
What have you done with Jesus Christ?
http://images.sodahead.com/polls/002072917/572392820_repent_xlarge.jpeg
Have you accepted Him to be your Savior and Lord?
No religion, no good deeds, no wishful thinking, NOTHING can take the place of the choice you need to make to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gM886qz_xJA/R4z5D60iY_I/AAAAAAAAAGU/re0hP_3GYe0/S760/137345643_f6c12034a2_o.jpg
Man is designed to be the dwelling place of God, and for that reason he is a unique kind of creature.
He is not just an animal, and he is not designed to be operating only on a soul level.*The “spirit” receives impressions through the body and the soul.
http://25.media.tumblr.com/722bde2bfb597c9a40f3a485b408bbd1/tumblr_mg2kr7eRnA1rwr10wo1_1280.jpg
Only one thing stands as a guard at the door of man’s spirit, and that is his own will.
When the will is surrendered, the Holy Spirit takes up His abode in the spirit of man. *When that transaction takes place we will know it, for, says Paul:
Romans 8:16-17 NKJV16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Romans 8:16-17 NKJV
In John 4:24 NKJV, Jesus said:24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
http://freebiblestudiesonline.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/free-bible-studies-online-great-white-throne-judgement.jpg?w=639&h=547
In the new kingdom, redeemed man will reign over the angels.
Hebrews 2:8-9 NKJV8 “You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him.
http://realtimeunited.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/millennium.jpg
9 But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
Hebrews 2:8-9 NKJV
The ultimate curse of man's lost destiny is death.
Genesis 2:17 NKJV17“but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
The cross conquered the curse.
Man's destiny, restricted by sin, has been recovered by Christ.
The kingdom will be restored and man will be given the crown again.
*But how can it happen?
https://1956msbess.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/20140704-073850-27530794.jpg
The only payment for sin is death -
"For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).
The only way man can ever be a king again is to have the curse removed.
The only way the curse can be removed is for the penalty to be paid.
If man is to be restored to reign as a king, he must die — and be resurrected a new man with sovereign qualities.
But we still ask, "How?"
The moment that I put my faith in Jesus Christ, at that moment I was identified with Christ.
I died with Him on the cross (Galatians 2:20).
*For every believer, the curse has been removed. *Every believer is now a king. *We have not inherited our dominion yet, but the crown has been restored.
We were crucified with Him and were buried with Him, and He has raised us up to a new life.
It is life with the curse removed.
Revelation 5:9-10 NKJV9 And they sang a new song, saying:“You are worthy to take the scroll,And to open its seals; For You were slain,And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”
Revelation 5:9-10 NKJV
http://christconnection.net/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/0-King20Jesus.jpg
If you have been groping around, trying to figure out why you exist, I hope you know the reason now.
There is no longer a reason for us to be slaves.
There is no reason for us to be paupers.
There is only reason for us to be kings.*Men today still ask, "What is man?"
How could Jesus be greater than angels if angels never die?
How could He be a Savior if He Himself were killed?
Christ was made for a little while lower than the angels so that He could become a man.
He became a man so that He could die.
http://www.gurdjieff-internet.com/images/jesus_on_cross.jpg
He came to die because His death, and only His death, couldaccomplish man's salvation.
http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=HN.608027379245646431&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0
Those tiny handsfashioned by the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb were made to take two great nails.
http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/7700000/Baby-Jesus-jesus-7760413-477-548.jpg
Those little feet were made to climb a hill and be nailed to a cross.
That sacred head was made to wear a crown of thorns, and that tender body wrapped in swaddling clothes was made to be pierced by a spear.
For this Christ came to earth.
His death was the furthest thing from an accident.
And, despite the malignant evil that crucified Him, His death was the furthest thing from a tragedy.
It was God's ultimate plan for His Son and His ultimate gift for mankind.
It (God’s plan) pleasedGod to crush Him –(Isaiah 53:10).
Jesus Christ came to die to remove the curse so that man could regain dominion; thus His death was the most purposeful in all history.
http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=HN.608055073195036246&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0
If He was to remove the curse on man He had to take the place of man by becoming a man Himself.
THE EXTENT OF HISHUMILIATION
We see the extent of Christ's humiliation in His death.*Angels cannot die; but Jesus came to die.
He went so far beneath angels that He did something that they could never do.
His death was not easy nor costless.
It was a horrific death.
Christ's exit from the land of the living was not calm and peaceful, but was accompanied by outward torture and inner agony.
http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=HN.608035741548872967&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0
The death He tasted was the curse of sin.
What Jesus felt while dying on the cross was the total agony of every soul in hell for all eternity put together, suffered in a few hours.
All the punishment for all the sin of all time — that was the depth of His death.
He was guilty of no sin, yet He suffered for all sin.
Christ endured for a few hours what will take an eternity for unrepentant sinners to endure.
Hebrews 2:10 NKJVBringing Many Sons to Glory10 For it was fitting for Him, for Whom are all things and by Whom are all things,
in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
Hebrews 2:10 NKJV
The Greek word for captain is archegos (arkhay GOS), literally, a "pioneer" or "leader." *It was commonly used of a pioneer who blazed a trail for others to follow.
http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=HN.608012226595914046&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0
As the supreme Archegos, Christ does not stand at the rear giving orders.
http://captainjamesdavis.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/jesus-pilot1.jpg?w=640
He is always before us, as perfect Leader and perfect Example.
As the great Pioneer of redemption, He blazed the trail through death and resurrection.
He said, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die" (John 11:25-26).
God made Christ for a little while lower than the angels so that He could come down to us, be our Archegos — our spiritual Pioneer and Example —and bring us to the Father.
Hebrews 2:14-15 NKJV14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Hebrews 2:14-15 NKJV
http://www.ibmsanmiguel.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/esclavo.jpg
In v.14, “as the children have partaken of flesh and blood”… *Our English word, partaken, is from the Greek word, metecho(metEKHo), which has to do with taking hold of something that is not naturally one's own kind.
We by nature are flesh and blood; Christ was not.
http://ibibleverses.christianpost.com/data/uploads/2012/07/thewordbecameflesh.jpg
Yet He willingly took hold of something which did not naturally belong to Him.
He added to Himself our nature in order that He might die in our place, and that we might take hold of the divine nature that did not belong to us (see 2 Peter 1:3-4).
2 Peter 1:3-4 NKJV3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him Who called us by glory and virtue,
4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2 Peter 1:3-4 NKJV
http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/ff/19/4e/ff194efbdcdc7e61a9af7e303b005673.jpg
The Son of God became the Son of Man so that sons of men might become sons of God.
http://hopeforallmin.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/broken-chains.jpg
Obviously Satan's power over us had to be broken in order for us to be brought to God.
Satan's primary power over man and supreme weapon against him is death. *Sin gives Satan his powerover us; but the power itself is death.
We children were once held in servitude by our enemy, Satan.
Since we were human, our Captain had to become human and die for us, in order to rescue us.
But by doing so He was able to destroy the devil.
The author of Hebrews did not mean that Satan ceased to exist or to be active.
Rather the word he used for "destroy" (katargeo –kahtarGEHoh) indicates the annulment of his power over those whom Christ redeems.
In speaking of the devil as wielding the power of death, the writer meant that Satan uses people's fear of death to enslave them to his will.
http://itsallaboutmemovie.com/wp-content/themes/iaam/img/iaam-logo.jpg
Often people make wrong moral choices out of their intense desire for self-preservation.
We are reminded that we are no longer subject to such slavery (fear of death) and that we can face death with the same confidence in God that our Captain had.
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2MyXbprhnZA/UUIJgNG0vtI/AAAAAAAACSY/GpKKddwEBwc/s1600/No-Fear-of-Death.jpg
So in this regard, why did Christ become man? *Why did He die? *That through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.
1 John 3:8b NKJV8b For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
1 John 3:8b NKJV
The only way to destroy Satan was to rob him of his weapon, death —physical death, spiritual death, eternal death.
Satan knew that God required death for us because of sin.
Death had become the most certain fact of life.
Satan wants to hold onto men until they die, because once they are dead, the opportunity for salvation is gone forever.
Men cannot escape after death.
So God had to wrest from Satan the power of death and for just that purpose Jesus came.
If you have a more powerful weapon than your enemy, his weapon becomes useless. *You cannot fight against a tank with a bow and arrow.
Satan's weapon is extremely powerful.
But God has a weapon even more powerful —eternal life — and with it Jesus destroyed death.
http://i.vimeocdn.com/video/459907579_640.jpg
The way to eternal life is through resurrection, but the way to resurrection is through death.
v14 -"That through deathHe might destroy him."
Christ Jesus came not only through birth -- His birth didn't save anyone -- but through death.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_72h9TtxpiWM/TOP6whnyYUI/AAAAAAAAAfw/Duas5C-BR88/s1600/born%2Bto%2Bdie_t_nv.jpg
It is by His death He saves us, not by His birth or by His life. *His death brought to us salvation and deliverance from spiritual and eternal death.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pBW6ExHG4CM/T4BfJ4H2rGI/AAAAAAAACWo/p-6K9qCDAVM/s1600/empty-tomb-of-jesus.jpg
So Jesus had to experience death before He could be resurrected and thereby give us life.
http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/3d/8c/ec/3d8cec6fdf84532b4d17ad92c61896dd.jpg
He went into death, through death, and came out on the other side, thereby conquering it.
Then He could say, "Because I live, you shall live also" (John 14:19).
The resurrection of Jesus Christ provides the believer with eternal life.
It is the only thing that could ever have done it. *Death is the power of Satan's dominion, and when Jesus shatteredSatan's power He also shattered his dominion.
The thing that terrifiespeople more than anything else is death.
It is a horrible fear, the king of terrors.
But when we receive Jesus Christ, death holds no more fear. *We have been released from bondage to the fear of death, and, instead, look forward to it.(1Cor 5)
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_wqOT8is4ZS8/TMriGtrbWSI/AAAAAAAABNc/byM-STPC_RE/s1600/1+cor.+15.55.jpg
We say with Paul, "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (Phil 1:21) and "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?" (1 Cor 15:55).
Death no longer holds any fear, for it simply releases us into the presence of our Lord.
Why?
Because we have placed our hands into the hands of the Conqueror of death, and our Captain will lead us into one side of the grave and out the other.
He never could have done it if He had not becomefor a little while lower than the angels first.
OUR SYMPATHIZER
Hebrews 2:16-18
Hebrews 2:16-18 NKJV16 For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.
17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.
Hebrews 2:16-18 NKJV
Christ did not come to redeem angels but men. *Again the writer of Hebrews answers the question, "If Jesus is God, why did He become a man?"
He came: to substitute for men, to reconcile men to God, to fit them for God's
presence and to destroy death.
But beyond that He also came to help the reconciled when they are tempted.
He wanted to feel everything we feel so that He could be a merciful and understanding, as well as a faithful, High Priest.
http://tse1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=HN.608026421465385123&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0
He came not only to save us but to sympathize with us.
http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=HN.607994282224977536&w=300&h=300&c=0&pid=1.9&rs=0&p=0
Remember that, wherever you may go, He has been there before you.
You can get down on your knees when the going gets tough and you can pray, 'Lord, You know what You went through when You were here. I'm going through it now.'
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0uvRF5v8ytg/T6ioAH4QprI/AAAAAAAAAKU/Xug1rRa70A8/s1600/hugging-jesus+(1)+copy.jpg
And He will say, “Yes, I know.”
When you have a problem, it is wonderful to be able to talk with the divine One Who has already experienced it and come through successfully.
"For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One Who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin" (Hebrews 4:15).
http://thebiblequotestbq.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/jesus-high-priest.jpg
He became our Sympathizer, a merciful and faithful High Priest.
He was hungry, He was thirsty, He was overcome with fatigue, He slept, He was taught, He grew, He loved, He was astonished, He was glad, He was angry, He was indignant,
He was sarcastic, He was grieved, He was troubled, He was overcome by future events, He exercised faith, He read the Scriptures, He prayed, He sighed in His heart
http://www.art4god.com/images/print/gsam.jpg
He sighed in His heart when He saw another man in illness, and He cried when His heart ached.
Jesus felt everything we will ever feel — and more.
For example, He felt temptation to a degree that we could not possibly experience.
Most of us never know the full degree of resistible temptation, simply because we usually succumb long before that degree is reached.
But since Jesus never sinned, He took the full measure of every temptation that came to Him. *And He was victorious in every trial.

Why did He go through that?
https://writingsofsheila.files.wordpress.com/2014/08/jesus-cares-ave-33.jpg
He is the God we can go to not only for salvation but forsympathy.
He is our perfect Savior:our Substitute, our salvation Captain, our Sanctifier, our Satan-Conqueror, and our Sympathizer.
What a Savior He is. There is no other! There is one thing this study in the Book of Hebrews should achieve, it is to make us very conscious that we have a
High Priest in Heaven Who is on our side! *He is alive at this moment. **He is at God's right hand, and, best of all, He is available to us.
He knows us, He understands us, and we can take our burdens to Him at any time, regardless of our location or situation.
When that dark moment comes, and you and I go down into the valley of the shadow of death, we have a great High Priest up yonder Who will help us.
No matter what happens, no matter what the test, He is able to help us.
We do not use His services as we should.
We forget about Him and try to fight our battles alone.
My friend, He is availableand He wants us to come to Him.
Here is the whole summary of Hebrews in one sentence.
Ours is the High Priest of high priests, and He is seated (it is finished!).
http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/ee/d1/d1/eed1d167756c8f6d3971cc3c9cbed3e2.jpg
His work is done, completely finished for all time and for us.
The Plan of Hope & Salvation
Romans 3:23 NKJV23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23a NKJV23a For the wages of sin is death,
Death in this life (the first death) is 100%. Even Jesus, the only one who doesn’t deserve death, died in this life to pay the penalty for our sins. The death referred to in Romans 6:23a is the second death explained in Revelation 21:8.
Revelation 21:8 NKJV8 “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Romans 5:8 NKJV8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23b NKJV23b but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Revelation 21:7 NKJV7 “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.”
Romans 10:9-10 explains to us how to accept Jesus as our Savior.
Romans 10:9-10 NKJV9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:13 NKJV13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
