From the vastness of God’s mind and from the infinite love of His bounty, God has called us to be. Our Lord, the Lord of our ancestors, the God of Israel and the God of the United States of America, from our mother’s womb has called us to the light and to the glory of the baptized. Behold Mary! Behold Steve! Behold Guadalupe and Marcos! We are called to be God’s children and in so He has allowed us to be kingly people, priestly people, and saintly people, in other words people of faith. And we rejoice in the Lord for that. We exercise the kingly office when we realize the magnificence of our God, Omnipotent (all powerful), Omnipresent (ever present) and Eternal. Yet He is reachable, attainable and real. Did you know that in baptism an invitation to live saintly lives was made? We are called to be saints! In our relationship with Him we exercise our saintly office. We have been invited and encouraged to live in relationship to the Father in a bond that sickness, tragedy and even death cannot dissolve. And when we sing at the celebration of mass, when we respond to the presider exhortations with conviction, strength, certitude and when we kneel, stand and pray within the proper moments of the Liturgy we proclaim our ordinary priesthood and execute our priestly duties. And these duties must not only permeate our public worshipping but also must take flesh in the routine of our daily lives. They cannot remain contained within the walls of our beautiful church they must go out in the same way that Jesus went out in a missionary effort to spread the gospel. Faith has to look like something and that something is our life. The example we display in our everyday endeavors paves the way for others to see the Jesus in us. We give testimony with our deeds, actions, and lives for the love of God and for the many ways He has lifted up humanity, our humanity. With Jesus’ baptism his public mission began. With Jesus’ Baptism our life as God’s family was instituted. Our Father became our loving and everlasting Savior and home for us became life in Jesus. It’s about seeing Jesus and exclaiming behold, seeing him in the lady that sits with an old and raggedy fur coat at the corner of our church, or in the young cashier at the supermarket that while unmercifully chews bubble gum struggles to get right the numbers of our items to our frustration and waste of time. But it is also about seeing Jesus in the religious sister who in her quiet ways reminds us of the love of God and in the married woman always involved in church activities as she also juggles a home, a family and her job. Behold I say to you, the wonders of our humanity lifted up by the waters of baptism and sustained by the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. To behold means more than just to see or to watch. To behold means to gaze, to keep, and to preserve the integrity and the beauty of the object or the person in question. To behold means to see the face of God. You simply cannot take your eyes away in other direction. As we continue our liturgical journey towards the mysteries of Lent and Easter we keep our eyes fixed in the Lord so that He will enable us to see and to be icons of God. Only in such we will be able to see Jesus in ourselves and in each other and say, “Behold, the Lamb of God”.

Desde la inmensidad de la mente de Dios y desde el infinito amor de su generosidad, Dios nos ha llamado a ser. Nuestro Señor, el Señor de nuestros antepasados, el Dios de Israel y el Dios de los Estados Unidos de América, desde el vientre de nuestra madre nos ha llamado a la luz y a la gloria de los bautizados. ¡Mirad María! He aquí Juan! ¡Mirad a Guadalupe y Marcos! Estamos llamados a ser hijos de Dios y, por lo tanto, Él nos ha permitido ser Pueblo de Reyes, Pueblo Sacerdotal y Asamblea Santa, en otras palabras, personas de fe. Y por eso nos regocijamos en el Señor. Ejercemos el oficio real cuando nos damos cuenta de la magnificencia de nuestro Dios, Omnipotente (todo poderoso), Omnipresente (siempre presente) y Eterno. Sin embargo, es accesible, alcanzable y real. ¿Sabías que en el bautismo se hizo una invitación para vivir vidas santas? ¡Estamos llamados a ser santos! En nuestra relación con Él, ejercemos nuestro oficio de santidad. Hemos sido invitados y alentados a vivir en relación con el Padre en un vínculo que la enfermedad, la tragedia e incluso la muerte no pueden disolver. Y cuando cantamos en la celebración de la misa, cuando respondemos a las exhortaciones del presidente con convicción,

fuerza, certeza y cuando nos arrodillamos, nos paramos y rezamos en los momentos apropiados de la Liturgia, proclamamos nuestro sacerdocio ordinario y ejecutamos nuestros deberes sacerdotales. Y estos deberes no sólo deben permear nuestra adoración pública sino

que también deben encarnarse en la rutina de nuestra vida diaria. No pueden permanecer contenidos dentro de los muros de nuestra hermosa iglesia, deben salir de la misma manera que Jesús salió en un esfuerzo misionero para difundir el evangelio. La fe tiene que parecer algo y ese algo es nuestra vida. El ejemplo que mostramos en nuestros esfuerzos cotidianos allana el camino para que otros vean a Jesús en nosotros. Damos testimonio con nuestros hechos, acciones y vidas por el amor de Dios y por las muchas formas en que Él ha elevado a la humanidad, nuestra humanidad. Con el bautismo de Jesús comenzó su misión pública. Con el bautismo de Jesús se instituyó nuestra vida

como familia de Dios. Nuestro Padre se convirtió en nuestro amoroso y eterno Salvador y el hogar para nosotros se convirtió en vivir la vida en Jesús. Se trata de ver a Jesús y exclamar, he aquí, verlo en la señora que se sienta con un abrigo de piel viejo y harapiento en la

esquina de nuestra iglesia, o en el joven cajero del supermercado que, mientras mastica sin piedad, se esfuerza por obtener el número correcto de nuestros artículos a nuestra frustración y pérdida de tiempo. Pero también se trata de ver a Jesús en la hermana religiosa que en sus maneras tranquilas nos recuerda el amor de Dios y en la mujer casada que siempre participa en las actividades de la iglesia, ya que también hace malabares con un hogar, una familia y su trabajo. He aquí, te digo, las maravillas de nuestra humanidad levantadas por las aguas del bautismo y sostenidas por el cuerpo y la sangre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Contemplar significa más que sólo ver o mirar. Contemplar significa mirar, mantener y preservar la integridad y la belleza del objeto o la persona en cuestión. Contemplar significa ver el rostro de Dios. Simplemente no puedes apartar los ojos en otra dirección. A medida que continuamos nuestro viaje litúrgico hacia los misterios de la Cuaresma y la Pascua, mantenemos nuestros ojos fijos en el Señor para que Él nos permita ver y ser iconos de Dios. Sólo así podremos ver a Jesús en nosotros mismos y en los demás y decir: “He aquí el Cordero de Dios”.

Healing the Hearts of the Students You Serve: Jesus sends us on a healing mission (Jared Dees)

Be quick to forgive When a student acts out or becomes a challenge in some way, it is natural to become angry or frustrated. The first step in making an impact is to forgive. The sooner you are able to forgive them for what they have done, the sooner you will be able to help them grow in their relationship with God. Pray for each student personally Beyond praying for your class as a whole, develop the habit of praying for each of your students by name, bringing specific petitions to the Lord. Jesus is the one who has the power to heal, so turn to him for help in healing the hearts of the faithful under your care in class. Be interested, not interesting The time you have with students before and after class begins are the most effective moments for ministry. Your interest in their lives will leave a lasting impression on them. Make sure your students feel appreciated, important, and loved. Show interest, and keep asking questions to get them sharing as much as you can. These conversations become opportunities to learn enough about their lives to have something to pray bout them for. Remember your childhood Think of the people in your life who cared enough to be there for you when you were down. They were probably the same people who were there in the good times, too. You have the opportunity to be that healing presence in the lives of the young people you serve. Your care and concern for their lives has a greater influence than you could possibly know. Be there for them when they need it the most-and pray for them constantly.
