EN-CRV-002-X-A-

As seen to the left when

installing EN-CVR-002-X-A-

ensure that the rivet holes are

positioned at the bottom.

Once you have placed your

clamps around the exhaust you

are then able to first cleco then

rivet EN-CVR-002-X-A- into

place onto EN-CLM-006-X-X-.

Inlet Pipe

EN-CRV-002-X-A-

EN-PLT-005-X-A-

AC-TUB-001-X-X-

Once Muffler is in place, Cleco AC-TUB-001-

X-X- & EN-PLT-005-X-A- together.

After you are happy with the Clecoed parts

attach both to the muffler by cleco’ing and

then riveting all parts together. This will be

done on both openings in the Muffler.

Hose Installation

Start by attaching the hose to the outlet point of the muffler, the hose must go over the outlet pipe

and must be clamped.

This hose when being routed up

to the Cabin Heat box as seen,

can be cable tied to the bottom

of the engine mount to be held in

position.

When attaching the hose to the

Cabin heat box, the hose must be

clamped into position over the

Cabin Heat box pipe.

Fitment of the Cowling 2016/11/25 Revision 0

Outline of procedure: 1. Prepare cowling. 2. Positioning of Dzus fasteners between top and bottom cowling. 3. Positioning of cowling on firewall. 4. Trimming rear of cowling to conform to firewall. 5. Transferring holes from firewall strips to cowlings. 6. Installing Dzus fasteners. 7. Assembly of cowl and final checks. STEP 1: Preparing cowling Stand the cowlings upright (spinner pointing upwards) and loosely fit the top and bottom cowlings together. Sand and file the top cowling’s edge line carefully until it conforms to the bottom cowling joggle.

Figure 1.

STEP 2: Positioning of Dzus fasteners between bottom and top cowling With reference to Figure 2 and with the cowlings standing upright (spinner pointing upwards), mark a point on the top cowling 55mm down from the front of the top cowling and 11mm from the edge line. From this point, measure and mark three holes with a common pitching of approximately 28.4mm, maintaining an 11mm edge distance (refer to Figure 3). Firmly join the top and bottom cowlings with masking tape. Carefully drill 2.5mm pilot holes through both cowlings at the points marked and use a clecoes before drilling the next hole.

Figure 2. Figure 3.

STEP 3: Positioning of Cowling on Firewall

Jaco
Stamp
Page 17: 01 - Strip Mounting - Sheet1 · 13 CF-BKT-019-L-A- Galvanised Steel Bracket - Bottom & Left 1 14 CF-BKT-019-R-A- Galvanised Steel Bracket - Bottom & Right 1 15 CF-CHL-023-C-A- Firewall

With the assistance of a 2nd person, fit the top and bottom cowlings to the firewall to achieve the following:

a. the front of the cowling is concentric with the rear of the spinner, and b. there is a gap of approximately 5 mm between the back of the spinner and the front of the

cowlings.

Figure 4.

Using masking tape or similar to hold the cowlings (clecoed together) in place on the aircraft while you make adjustments. Note that the cowling will overlap the fuselage. Step 4: Trimming rear of cowling to conform to firewall Using pin-striping tape or similar, carefully mark a line across the rear of the top cowling to denote where to trim off excess cowling. Remember to slightly offset your mark rearwards to allow for fine adjustments later by sanding and filing. Once the fitment and alignment of the top cowling is completed, repeat the above step for the bottom cowling. Remember to monitor the alignment of the cowling with the spinner as you progress. STEP 5: Transferring holes from firewall strips to cowlings Remove the lower cowling and use the 8 mm holes in the firewall strips as best as possible to align an 8mm drill bit as you drill from the inside of the top cowling. This may be easier if you transfer the 8 mm hole from the firewall strip to the cowling with a marker. Remove the cowl from the aircraft and drill or grind the holes. Repeat the above process for the lower cowling. Remember to monitor the alignment of the cowling with the spinner as you progress.

Step 6: Installing Dzus Fastener SpringsOnce you are satisfied with the fitment and alignment

between the lower and upper cowlings and between the cowlings and the firewall, begin fitting the

Dzus fasteners springs as described below. The Dzus fasteners springs will be fitted to the bottom

cowling only (along the join between the top and bottom cowlings) and to the firewall strips.

Bottom Cowling – Cowling Join Line Enlarge the 2.5 mm pilot holes in the bottom cowling to 8 mm. Align the Dzus fastener springs ensuring the middle of the spring is centred with the 8 mm holes. Drill 3.3 mm holes through the coiled ends of the springs. Countersink these from the outside of the cowling. Rivet the spring to the inside of the bottom cowl using 3.2 x 8 mm aluminium countersunk blind rivets.

Figure 5. Figure 6.

Top Cowling – Cowling Join Line Enlarge the 2.5 mm pilot holes in the top cowling to 8 mm. Fit the Dzus clips to the top cowling using the required Dzus tool.

Figure 7. Figure 8.

Top and Bottom Cowling – Firewall Join Line Fit the Dzus clips to the top and bottom cowling using the required Dzus tool. Fit the Dzus fastener springs to the firewall strips using the same method as described above. STEP 7: Assembly of cowl and final checks Finally, test fit the cowling on the aircraft. Make fine adjustments by sanding and filing the rear edge If necessary.
