What is Chewing gum

• Chewing gum is a type of gum made of chicle, a natural product, or synthetic rubber known as polyisobutylene. For economical and quality reasons, many modern chewing gums use rubber instead of chicle.

Ingredients of Chewing gum

• chewing gum contains sweeteners, flavorings, and softeners. Softeners are ingredients such as glycerin or vegetable oil that are used to blend the other ingredients and help prevent the gum from becoming hard or stiff.

History of Chewing gum

• The first successful bubble gum was invented by Walter Diemer in 1928. He was an accountant who knew nothing about chemistry, but created it in a tiny laboratory in Philadelphia.

Flavours

• There are many great gum flavours that people enjoy, These include cherry, grape, watermelon, strawberry,

sour apple, cotton candy, spearmint, juicy fruit ,mango, peppermint, winter-green , winter-mint, citrus mint,

lemon , paradise, chocolate, vanilla and tropical twist.

There are 187 flavors of chewing gum.

• There are many gum companies around the world, in places like the USA , UK, Canada, (Dubble Bubble), Australia, (Eclipse Ice) New Zealand , Japan, (Fusen Gum), Pakistan, (Hilal), Finland, (Jenkki), Netherlands, (Mentos), and Denmark.

• There are much more brands of chewing gum. For example, Bubble gum, Chiclets, Dentyne, Double mint, Excel, Europe, Extra, Ice Breakers, Juicy Fruit, Orbit, Ding Dong bubble , Tidal Wave, Think Gum, Trident , Winter fresh, Wrigley’s Spearmint and Fruit Stripe Gum.

• The biggest piece of chewing gum ever made, was equivalent to 10,000 pieces.

• If you swallow chewing gum it will stay in your stomach for seven years.

• North American children spend about half a billion dollars on bubble gum every single year.

• The largest gum bubble was about 23 inches long, and blown by Susan Montgomery.

• Peanut butter can be used to remove gum from your hair.

• More than 1,000 types of gum are manufactured and sold in the United States.
