C/12 Griffin is the model of science without humanity. a scientist who has devoted himself to research in optics and invents a

way to change a body's refractive index to that of air so that it absorbs and reflects no light and thus becomes invisible. He successfully carries out this procedure on himself, but fails in his attempt to reverse the procedure.

He begins his road to decline in college when he becomes so obsessed with his experiments that he hides his work lest anyone else should receive credit, runs out of money, kills his own father-a crime that makes the rest of his crimes pale in comparison.

He goes from scientist to fanatic when he begins to focus all of his attention merely on the concept of invisibility and neglects to think about the consequences of such a condition.

Becomes unruly and poses a threat to people killing at least three or four of them.

He cannot enjoy any of the normal comforts of life-such as food, clothes, and money. He cannot eat without hiding the action, as the food in his system will render him visible.

Mr. & Mrs. Hall are the owners of the Coach and Horse Inn. She is very glad to have him as her guest because at that time of the

year very few guests were expected. .. She is frustrated by the mysterious Griffin’s refusal to talk to her and

his repeated temper tantrums. However she tolerates him because he is ready to pay well.

She always spoke in favour of her guest. Mrs. Hall is a very friendly down-to-earth person

She enjoys socializing with her guests but, her opinion changes as her guest starts behaving in a very strange manner, and she calls him a spirit.

Mr. Hall is the first person to notice that there is something mysterious and evil about Griffin.

He notices that the stranger’s skin looked dark when a dog bites him. He follows Griffin to his room to see if he is all right and discovers

Griffin without gloves and is handless. He voices his unease and doubts to his wife and wants her to get rid of him as early as possible. It is his demand to pay up and leave and this unfolds the suspense that the stranger is an invisible man
