What makes a good presentation? Each team member must VERBALLY present an equivalent portion of the

presentation. Individual marks (up to 10 marks out of 20) will be awarded based on eye contact,

talking directly to the audience with little note reading, making appropriate transitions and clear pronunciation. For example, if a student reads all the text, does not make eye contact and has poor pronunciation, no more than 4 marks out of 10 will be awarded. Therefore, you must practice many times before the presentation. The presentation must be convincing, well organized and interesting.

Appendix C. Suggestions for students on how to be an effective group 1

1. Be sure everyone contributes to discussion and to tasks. Don’t jump to conclusions too quickly. Be sure all ideas are considered.

2. Don’t assume consensus because no one has opposed an idea or offered an alternative. Check agreement with each group member verbally, not just by a vote.

3. Set goals – immediate, intermediate, and longer – but don’t be afraid to change them as you progress.

4. Allocate tasks to be done. Be sure that each person knows what he or she is to do and what the deadline is. Check this before adjourning.

5. Be sure there is agreement on the time and place of the next meeting and on what you hope to accomplish.

6. Before ending a meeting, evaluate your group process. What might you try to do differently next time?
