International Business Management degree
offered exclusively at UEA London, and can
apply for entry to other universities in the UK.
Excellent choice of undergraduate
degree subjects
The University of East Angl ia teaches
more than 300 courses of study, including
popular undergraduate degrees such as
Accounting and Finance, Actuarial Sciences,
Biological Sciences, Biomedicine, Business
Management, Chemistry, Computing,
Economics, Energy Engineering,

Studies, International Development, Law,
Media, Pharmacy and Psychology.
Studying at INTO UEA has taught me a lot about the
differences between the UK education system and teaching
in my home country. When you do a practical class here the
teacher may not tell you what will happen you need to
monitor the experiment to learn what will happen in the next
stage. When I was in China, my teacher told me what will
happen in the experiment and then I had to make sure that it
did happen. Here, my professors told me that its not
necessary that the right thing happens if your experiment
has some errors then you can try to explain them, which is
good experience for a scientist.

I learned a lot of valuable skills and developed my essay writing when
I was in INTO. I was attracted to this programme at UEA because of
the year in industry, especially because I know that the University has
close links with good companies. When you graduate, you need
some work experience before you can be an actuary, so I think if you
have done a year in industry then its quite a good advantage for you.

A-level course options
We offer two options for A-level students: a
five-term and a six-term programme starting
in September and January. You can choose
the pathway that corresponds to the subjects
you plan to study.
In the five or six-term programme you choose
four subjects in your first year of study andthen commit to three subjects in your final
three terms. This lets you experiment with a
fourth subject before choosing your final year
A-levels. If your performance is excellent you
may continue with four subjects throughout
the programme.
Inspiring enhancement activities
Great emphasis is placed on practical work
for Newton Students, as it not only
reinforces their theoretical knowledge by
providing the perfect opportunity to relate
their studies to practical applications in the
real world, but also brings the subjects they
are studying to life.
Alongside their academic studies, Newton
Students benefit from a programme of
enhancement activities, which includes:
workshops and master classes, university
presentations, educational visits, external
competitions and assistance with securing
work placements and internships.

One of the most important skills that our A-level students
develop is independent learning. We dont spoon feed our
Newton Programme students. We expect them to learn the
skills of learning. Hopefully they will have learned how to
communicate with each other and with others and they will
have grown in confidence. I think thats something that we
give over and above what even the best schools can offer.
Also, they will understand how to have a good working
relationship with teaching staff. Because of the maturity and
the age range of the students that we get, that relationship
will be a much closer one.
