01.22.21 “The secret of a man’s being is not only to live, but to have something to live for.” - Fyodor Dostoevsky Dear AHS Families, Last week, our Athletic Director Mr. Newton and I had the opportunity to meet with two Anderson seniors who have stepped up to lead a significant effort to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society this spring in their “Students of the Year” competition. It’s an incredible effort in which teenagers from across Southwest Ohio compete to raise money for this worthy cause. I have had the honor of attending the celebration dinner and awards ceremony in the past and it is absolutely remarkable what happens when highly motivated and passionate young men and women are driven toward a common goal and purpose. (On that note, stay tuned for ways in which YOU might be able to help these kids reach their goal!) After spending some time brainstorming ideas for how to support these two individuals’ fundraising efforts in the middle of a pandemic, Mr. Newton and I marveled at the maturity and leadership that these Anderson students demonstrated. And the reality is this - there are MANY students in our Anderson family who are equally motivated and driven to succeed in their individual pursuits - in the classroom, onstage, on the field, or on the court. It’s a beautiful thing to behold and one that we have the privilege of witnessing each day at Anderson High School. In addition to teaching “reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic”, we’re also excited to help our students identify their passions and equip them to successfully integrate these passions into their lives in the future. As the adage goes, “The individual who makes money doing what he/she loves will never work a day in their life.” Thank you for partnering with us and entrusting your children to us each day! ANDERSON PROUD DINE & DONATE OPPORTUNITIES: Over the past several months, the AHS Brand & Logo Steering Committee has worked diligently to facilitate a high-quality rebranding process. Over the next couple weeks, the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce (AACC) is planning to support these efforts through dining out at a number of local restaurants. A percentage of sales (including gift cards purchased) on each of these evenings will be donated directly to the Anderson High School fundraising needs. Please take a look at THIS DOCUMENT and join the AACC in support of both the ongoing rebranding initiatives at Anderson High School as well our local restaurants. #WeAreFHSD CURRENT SOPHOMORE OPPORTUNITIES:

Regional Youth Leadership: 2021 Regional Youth Leadership (RYL) applications are available. Students pay the $10 application fee. Participation fees are paid by AHS. Transportation to and from the RYL sessions is the responsibility of the student. This program is sponsored by the Northern Kentucky Chamber Foundation. Information and application information is here: Regional Youth Leadership Information
