FILES LEÊRS

Files you will need are:

1) A REPORT FILE which is the neat, logically ordered, indexed file:

Introduction and background – more extensive in file than on poster. Why was your research relevant and important?

Aim, Hypothesis or Engineering goal Methods and Material s – enough detail for

someone else to repeat your work. Include variables. Add photos where applicable.

Results – all graphs and tables Analysis of results – explain what you got in

words, more extensive than on poster Discussion of results – highlighting patterns,

trends and unusual findings. Point out limitations and explain findings.

Conclusion/s - must be valid and reliable, refer back to aim/hypothesis/engineering goal

Applications of results – where could your findings be used

Possible extensions – how could you take your research further in future

Acknowledgements - help you got and from who.

References – make sure you do it in the right way (see white envelope content)

2) A DATA FILE with e.g. your rough data, sketches, plans, notes, emails sent, timeline of events - what was done and when, where and how, records of interviews done, questionaires, etc.

Include a section on the literature or background study you have done.

Photos – as many as you like

3) AN OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS FILE Include your abstract, plagiarism form, research plan and all ethical clearance documents such as a signed letter of permission from a mentor and/or a laboratory, a copy of your survey form, letters of consent from participants (where applicable), etc.

as op plakkaat.

Sluit veranderlikes in.

Foto’s – soveel as wat jy wil.

3) ‘N AMPTELIKE DOKUMENTE LEÊR Dit moet jou abstract (in Engels), plagiaatvorm, navorsingsplan en etiese uitklaringsdokumente, bv. ‘n getekende toestemmingsbrief van jou mentor of laboratorium, toestemmingsbriewe van deelnemers (waar van toepassing), ens. insluit.

POSTERS PLAKKATE

The dimensions of the poster board supplied at the regional competition, or the boards you can buy from our office are 1m high, a 1m centre part with 0.5m sides.

Remember that your poster must be a summary of your project. The poster must be legible from 2meters away.

You might want to measure it out on a table or the floor, lay out the content, and then take a photo of the final layout with your cell phone. Setting up in Boksburg will be easy if you can work from a photo.

The poster content should be:       Title – paste underneath the blue strip in the middle Name, Grade, School, Region - on the top of the

side panels or next to the logo on the centre panel. Introduction and Background ( summarized) - why is

this research important, to give context for what is to follow.

Aim/ Hypothesis / Engineering goal - what you wanted to achieve through this research.

Method and Materials (summarized) – what you used and did in short - include fixed, independent and dependent variables if you did experiments

Results – important graphs and tables (the heart of your project)

Analysis of results (summarized) - your results in words

Discussion of results – highlighting patterns, trends and unusual findings. Possible applications of your findings.

Conclusion/s – must be valid and reliable, refer back to aim/hypothesis/engineering goal

Applications of results – where could your findings be used

Possible extensions – how could you take your research further in future

Acknowledgements –help did you get and from who.

Photos (unless you have taken it yourself remember to acknowledge who took it or where you got it).

Please use the same font size and font type for the entire content and same font but a bigger font size for the headings.

Remember the Prestik, please. No other means of attaching the project content is allowed.
