Dear Professor, Eminent Scholar, Students & Friends,
The World Hindi Secretariat, Mauritius is organising an International Seminar/Workshop on Hindi ICTblogging and e-journalism scheduled for 23-27 April 2ot2 in Mauritius. The seminar/workshop willcomprise of one-day seminar and four-day workshop on the following themes ,,Websites, blogging,Sociol Networking Sites and e-journolism in Hindi,,
The main objective of the Seminar-workshop conducted by resource persons of international renown isto familiarise and train young Hindi students, teachers, academics and other users of the languageacross the globe with the latest trends and technology in the field of Hindi and ICT so as to empowerthem towards creating their own blogs, e-journals, websites in Hindi thus, enhancing the presence ofthe language worldwide on the internet. A detailed information brochure on the seminar/workshopis enclosed.
The World Hindi Secretariat is pleased to extend an invitation to students and academics from yourUniversity/lnstitution to participate in the semina r/workshop.Participants will have to incur costs towards their airfare. The secretariat undertakes to facilitate theaccommodation for participants at the Mahatma Gandhi lnstitute Guest House at very convenient ratesprovided timely confirmation of participation. Reservation may also be made on behalf of participants inhotels or other guest houses. International participants shall benefit from a waiver of the registrationfees and will be provided lunch and afternoon tea during the workshop. Transport facilities on costsharing basis will also be provided from the guest house to the venue of the seminar/workshop.Given the limited number of seats available for the workshop, participants will be registered on a firstcome first serve basis. we would be grateful if you could kindly confirm your participation or that ofstudents/academics from your University at latest by L0th April 2012. All registration should beaccompanied with a current CV of the participant.

Each Session shall comprise of 45 minutes presentation by one of the
resource persons followed by 30/45 minutes Working Session.
Practicum session shall comprise of targeted practical work in groups (of
Maximum 5 participants) aimed at creating at least one Hindi blog/e-
journalism portal/ online discussion platform etc per group.
Last session on day 5 (27.04.2012) shall be the closing ceremony.

Internet Access (Wireless LAN) for the duration of the workshop.

Rationale
ICT and electronic platforms such as blogs and e-journals as well as e-communities
are fast becoming the most widespread and effective vector of knowledge and
propagation of ideas and languages and the Secretariat shall imperatively make
optimum use of modern technologies as well as promote the use of these modern
platforms in activities areas related to Hindi.
Recent statistics show that despite global Hindi speaking population of around one
billion, the presence of Hindi on the web has not yet reached the desirable stage.
Analysts state that Hindi is used by less than 0.1% of all the websites whose content
language.
The Secretariat is of opinion that one of the most effective ways to increase the
presence of Hindi on the web is by empowering the upcoming generation of Hindi
users towards the optimum use of the modern ICT tools. Hence, the WHS is
organising a seminar cum workshop on Hindi ICT, e-journalism and blogging with the
participation of scholars/resource persons of international renown who have
extensive experience in the field namely Mr. Balendu Sharma Dadhich, Mrs.
Poornima Varman and Mr. Lalit Kumar.
Target Group
The Seminar/Workshop shall include local and international participants with priority
given to university students and other Hindi users who show keen interest in the use
of modern ICT Tools. These include Tertiary Sector Students, Tertiary Sector
Academics, Primary & Secondary Sector Educators, Religious Personalities, Creative
Writers, Journalists & Media Person and Government & Parastatal Officials
Objectives
To educate and train young Hindi students, teachers , academics and other
users of the language to empower them towards creating their own blogs, e-
journals, websites in Hindi thus enhancing the presence of the language on
the web.
To familiarise the target group with the latest trends and technology in the
field of Hindi and ICT. Pg 2
Providing the necessary training to the target group to empower them
towards the effective use of the digital platforms of expression such as blogs
and e-magazines to enhance the visibility of their creations as well as that of
the language.
Initiating the local and international Hindi academia and community in
general towards joining the wave of Hindi e-journalism and blogging to
increase the visibility of Hindi literature worldwide as well as other forms of
expressions in the language.
