Introduction and Overview

The SituationThe Situation

The ChallengeThe Challenge

The OpportunityThe Opportunity

• PPSD is committed to preparing all students for success in their chosen colleges and careers.

• Beginning with the Class of 2014, students must score a level 2 or higher on NECAP in order to graduate. Despite our best efforts, we are falling short of our goal.

• Close to 65% of the Class of 2014 may be in jeopardy of not graduating on time.

• We must work quickly to prepare our juniors for graduation, while also building awareness among all of our students.

• There is good news—we have invested in programs and interventions to support our students through graduation.

• We must work together to ensure that our students graduate college- and career-ready. Everyone must be part of the solution—students, families, community members and educators.

A Closer Look at the NECAP Requirement

• Students will have more than one opportunity to take the NECAP (during their junior and senior years).

• Students can show growth to meet the requirement.

• It’s really a matter of answering 5 to 8 more questions correctly.

Students must score a 2 (“Partially Proficient”) or better on both the Reading and Math NECAP exams.
