Surrounding Andretti Winery, in the esteemed Oak Knoll region of the Napa Valley, is our 42-acre estate vineyard, planted with Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. The Oak Knoll location is a blessing as the climate is cooler than the upper reaches of the Napa Valley, yet warmer than the Carneros region to the south, making it especially conducive to growing diverse varietals such as Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay. This unique climate, combined with quick-draining soils, yields small but in-tensely flavored grapes, just the sort of fruit that produces the very best wines.

N A P A V A L L E Y S E R I E S

Crafted principally from prized Napa Valley fruit, Andretti Winery’s Napa Valley Series includes an array of popular, food-friendly varietals that please even the most discriminating palate. With an extensive

varietal line-up, wine lovers enjoy the elegance, complexity and quality of each wine, including Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, Merlot and Zinfandel.

B A R D E S S O N O V I N E Y A R D S Yountville, Napa Valley

The Bardessono family is one of the last old local families still living in Yountville. For three generations my family has been

farming grapes and making wine in Yountville. In 1926 my grand-father and his brother in law purchased the Bardessono property because my grandmother wanted to live close to a school house.

In the early years the Bardessono family farmed walnuts, prunes, and pro-

duce. After my fathers death in 2001 I decided to

combine my professional winemaking experience with my per-sonal knowledge of wine grape farming gleaned from years of

working side by side with my father, uncle and brother. I realized that I have the experience and knowledge to produce a style of

Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Sirah that is a reflection of my family’s long wine making history.

Winemaking

The “JB” insignia on the front label comes from a ring belonging to my grandfather, John Bardessono. The copper foiling of the

“JB” represents the fact that my grandfather purchased the land with money earned from work in a copper mine. The label colors are warm and inviting, which is a re-flection of my family’s penchant to invite people, friends and family into their home and community. I

chose a hemp string necktie to symbolize an “Italian” bottle style in recognition of my ethnic heritage and also to reflect that the wine is produced and farmed with earth-friendly practices

2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley The Cabernet fruit for our 2009 Conway Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley came from one of the premier vineyards on Pritchard Hill. The integrated aromas on the nose of this Cabernet are enchanting. Beautiful red fruit flavors are matched perfectly with the graceful body of this wine. Sweet tannins coat your mouth with a seamless richness which delivers a finish that lingers on and on.

2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Atlas Peak The Cabernet fruit from our 2009 Conway Cabernet Sauvignon Atlas Peak came from one of the finest vineyards within the Atlas Peak AVA. We selected our rows of grapes from this world class vineyard that was planted meticulously in a perfect loca-tion overlooking breath taking views of the greater Napa AVA. The entry of this Cabernet has mouth filling up-front tannins and rich earthy black fruits in the background . It then finishes with an unbelievable lingering palette of vanilla, cedar and tar. If you love the classic Napa Cabernet style of sturdy tannins and perfectly ripe fruits, this is your wine! As delicious as it is now, this one is sure to impress over the years.

2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford This Cabernet Sauvignon is our inaugural vintage of CONWAY, crafted from carefully chosen vineyard blocks in the prestigious Rutherford appellation. The care and attention this Cabernet Sauvignon received during its creation is apparent in the quality and complexity of the finished wine. The first sip is captivating, the famed “Rutherford Dust” evident in the glass.

The CONWAY label celebrates our family’s dedication and passion for producing wines of excellent quality.

Conway Family Wines is committed to protecting and preserving the land and wildlife of the beautiful and historic Rancho Ar-

royo Grande property, and implements sustainable agricultural and vineyard practices. We know that the success of our winery is dependent on the passion and dedication of the talented people who have joined us in our commitment to produce out-

standing wines.

We all believe in making the best wine we possibly can, and we hope to get better year by year. We are proud to share our wines with you and hope you’ll enjoy a glass or two with us!

The vineyard of Chatom Vineyards is nestled in the breathtaking Esmer-alda Valley of the Sierra Foothills in Calaveras County. The valley was originally planted with low field crops, fruits and nut trees. When Gay Callan, owner and native San Franciscan, purchased the prop-erty in 1980, her vision was to plant a vineyard. Her first varietals were then planted in 1981, totaling 21 acres of Chardon-nay and Chenin Blanc. Today, the vineyard boasts 13 varietals planted on 65 acres, including Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet

Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah, Sangiovese and 5 Portuguese varietals. The Esmeralda Valley’s warm days and cool evenings create the perfect climate for cultivating pre-mium selections planted in the vineyard. The variable soils, from clay and sandy loam to shallow, rocky strata, have all proven to produce award winning grapes for Chatom Vineyards, as well as other select California wineries. Since the inception of Chatom Vineyards in 1981, many have viewed Chatom as the “jewel” of the Sierra Foothills. Accrediting both the “noteworthy” Sierra Foothills and Chatom Vineyards for the superior, hand crafted wines and the highest quality recognition for grape growing. It therefore became a natural progression for Chatom to nurture award-winning fruit and make award-winning wines from its vineyard location.

Nestled in the Red Hills of Lake County, California, at an elevation of 2,300 feet is Black Rock Ranch, home to Cougar's Leap Winery. The ranch is named after the large deposits of shiny obsidian rock ex-posed throughout the volcanic soils. The winery is named for the wild cougars that roam the hills to this day ~ Follow the tracks, Take the Leap & Enjoy! The planting of the vineyard began in 1995. At that time there were only a few other growers in the Red Hills Region. The volcanic soils in this area are suitable for red varietals, so the choice was made to plant Petite Sirah and Zinfandel. Our head-pruned vines yield a hearty grape. We hope you enjoy this limited production of wine.

Deep Sea wines are made from grapes grown in California’s moderate coastal climates. The vineyards along the California coastline are cooled by fog and ocean breezes; grapes grown here are distinctively

different from those grown in warmer inland areas.

Our winemakers’ art preserves that difference so the wines reflect their oce-anic terroir. The ethereal fog-like wave on the Deep Sea label represents the

cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean. Deep Sea wines are light and well-balanced. Delightful to drink alone, they also pair well with food. Our wines

can be found in many of California’s leading restaurants.

Whether you’re celebrating with friends, or at family dinner, or having a quiet glass after getting off work, there is a Deep Sea wine that fits the moment

Mercy Vineyards represents a pursuit to showcase the innate spirit of Monterey County's Arroyo Seco AVA as one of the preeminent locales for the cultivation of world-class Burundian varietals, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Established by vintners Mark Dirickson and Mike Kohne the wines are sourced from three

contiguous vineyards, all located in a specific part of the appellation - the dried riverbed. Found along the banks of a now seasonal creek, this unique riverbed corridor features ideal mari time climate with rocky,

meager surface soil and hardpan just feet below ground. Low yields, unique soil attributes and meticulous farming combine to produce flavorful and distinct grapes.

Grown in such a dramatic setting, the wines truly are at the Mercy of Mother Nature.

Vintners: Mercy Vineyards is the fruition of friendships. Vintners Mark and Mike have known one another for over a decade and have, collectively, been in the wine industry for over 45 years. Their experiences lead them to believe that the regional aspects of the Arroyo Seco AVA make it one of world's ideal growing regions for the wines they produce. Sourcing idyllic fruit, the wines are vinified by Mark and Mike's long-time friend and distinguished winemaker Alan Phillips. Produced in small lots, Alan employs classical winemaking

techniques to help enhance the overall character of the Mercy wines.

We invite you to Have Mercy!

OUR REGION

"A Thriving Wine Region in the San Francisco Bay Area"

Less than an hour east of San Francisco, Livermore Valley Wine Country welcomes visitors with a flourish expanse of vineyards, wineries, and wine country experiences. Amid picturesque canyons, ridges and outposts of suburbia, the lush vines and convivial tasting rooms increasingly define

the quality of life in the valley. To the delight of residents and visitors alike, the region is enjoying a wine renaissance harking back to the golden years of early California wine

history. One of California's oldest wine regions, the Livermore Valley played a pivotal role in

shaping California's wine industry. Spanish missionaries planted the first wine grapes in the Livermore Valley in the 1760s. In the 1840s, California pioneers looking for outstanding vineyard sites began planting

grapes in the region. Robert Livermore planted the first commercial vines in the 1840s. Pioneer winemakers C. H. Wente, James Concannon, and Charles Wetmore recognized the area's

winegrowing potential and founded their wineries in the early 1880s.

Livermore Valley captured America's first international gold medal for wine in 1889 at the Paris Exposition, putting California on the world wine map.

Livermore Valley wineries were the first to bottle varietal labeled Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc

and Petite Sirah. Nearly 80% of California's Chardonnay vines trace their genetic roots to a Livermore Valley clone. Livermore Valley also boasted more than 50 wineries until Prohibition

and contributed significantly to the state's enology and viticulture that lives on today.

Attracted to the rich winemaking tradition, climate, soil and geography, new winemakers and vineyardists are working alongside fifth generation winegrowers to create this Livermore Valley wine renaissance. The region now has over 40 win-eries, with several more about to open, and more than 5,000 acres of vineyards. Wineries vary in size from limited release, 100-case labors of love to 400,000-case industry heavyweights, and grapes range from familiar Merlot and Chardonnay to Italian, Rhone and Spanish varieties. Welcoming tasting rooms showcase award-winning wines and offer year around ac-tivities. In addition to the myriad happenings at individual wineries, the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association spon-

sors several consumer events each year, showcasing the talent, energy and fine wines of the region.

Page 16: Zwg portfolio dec 2014

Jeff Cranor’s passion for wine brought him into the

industry in 2005 as a part- ner in a boutique winery producing primarily Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. He saw tremendous potential and recognized the work of some new talent in the Liver-more Valley. In 2007, he convinced his partner to purchase some grapes from some Livermore Valley vineyards. Needless to say, Jeff hit the nail on the head, and his passion for the Livermore Valley grew to a point that he decided to break away from his partnership and take on the

region whole heartedly.

History of Nottingham

The 1860’s were a time of major development in this region we now call the Livermore Valley. Some 25 years had passed since Robert Liver-more had planted the first commercial wine grapes of the region and the town was in the midst of its renaissance. Its time as a stopping point for the gold rush was coming to an end, and the town was starting to create its own identity. The area re- mained nameless for some time, only land

grants being indicators. That was until the Nottingham Post Office opened on January 25, 1869. The name of the post office was changed on July 7, 1870 when William Mendenhall established a formal City Hall. Nottingham Cellars wines are a tribute to the rich history that precedes us

and the future of world class wine making in this Valley.

HERITAGE Translated from the Italian word for tractor, “Trattore” felt like the suitable name for the land where my passions combine - on 40 acres of steep rolling hillsides in Dry Creek Valley, planted in vineyards and olive trees. This ranch is a tribute to my appre-ciation for the craftsmanship and enduring tradition of an iconic old red tractor that I brought over from Europe and is seen both

on our wine label and working among the vines on our property today. It’s also where our commitment to rich farming traditions in the vineyard and attention to detail in the cellar come together to produce our collection of wines and olive oils. More than that, Trattore offers a “sense of place” where we look forward to sharing with guests who want to slow down and enjoy the stunning views of Dry Creek Valley over a glass of wine. Perhaps we can even interest you in a vineyard and orchard tour… from a tractor’s point of view

OUR VINEYARDS Our Estate vineyards are picturesquely located on a hilltop on the eastern side of Dry Creek Valley in northern Sonoma County. With commanding views of Geyser Peak and Mount St. Helena to the east and the entire Dry Creek Valley to the west, the combination

of steep terrain, stone-strewn soils, cool ocean influence and warm sum-mer days provides perfect growing conditions for our vines. Much like the Côtes du Rhône region of France, these diverse soils produce lus-cious fruit from grape varieties including Petite Sirah, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvédre, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne and Dry Creek Valley’s most popular grape variety, Zinfandel. This beautiful 40 acre ranch is sustainably farmed and tended to by hand in 10 distinct blocks based on the specific soil, exposure, slope, vine age and type. Each block is indi-vidually managed throughout the growing season to ensure the health of each vine. At harvest, we do something known as micro picks: tasting and then hand picking vine by vine, skipping rows if necessary, in search of the ripest fruit. Ultimately, our goal is to preserve the essence of the fruit that goes into our wines for optimum flavor profiles.

VINROC derives its name from our rock strewn mountain vineyard, where the elevation provides the perfect climate; and our rock hewn wine cave, where the consistent temperature & hu-midity is ideal for storing and aging our wine. Located on the eastern slope of Napa Valley at an elevation of 1600 feet,

our vineyards are above the fog line and experience sunny days and cool nights. Our vines struggle through the volcanic rock & red soil, producing low yields of highly complex & intense fruit. We pick one ton at a time, and harvest only those

clusters which are at the peak of ripeness .

The grapes are carried into our adjacent wine cave in small picking boxes, rather then dumped into large harvest bins, and are immediately hand sorted and de-stemmed. Our winery is completely self-contained within our cave which was specially designed with custom European equipment for a low volume, high quality boutique operation. Each ton har-

vested is separately fermented and barreled for two years in French Oak, which allows us to track individual batches from the vineyard and throughout the winemaking process until blended

Bannockburn, home to Carrick wines is found deep in the southern interior of the South Island of New Zealand in the wine region of Central Otago. Nestled at the southern end of one of the broad glacial river valleys surrounded by the Cairnmuir and Carrick mountain ranges, Bannockburn enjoys a continental climate with low rainfall and high sun- shine hours. The long cool autumns with their warm days and cool nights create ideal conditions for the production of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. Other grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris also thrive in Central Otago's microclimate.

In 1993 Carrick's first vineyard was planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc on the north facing Cairnmuir Terraces surrounded by the waters of Lake Dunstan. On the Eastern side of Cairnmuir Road our vineyards produce Pinot Noir and Riesling. Carrick strives to make wines that speak truthfully of their vineyard origins. Our winemaker, Francis Hutt, works closely with our viticulturist Blair Deaker to make vineyard and winery decisions that will enhance the finished wines, as well as staying true to our organic values

We’d like to introduce a family of new wines from sunny down under.

Meet ‘The Corker,’ a range created to capture the spirit of Australia – and now making its way around the globe. Australians are a fairly casual lot.

They are generally regarded as being easy-going, friendly, generous and possessing a good, if a little twisted, sense of humor . Who else would

bottle a wine with screw caps and then call it ‘The Corker’? But the wine is no joke. These are high quality products that have been made to a me-

ticulously high standard, then bottled with a closure that ensures they reach you, the wine lover, in the best possible condition. Corks may be tradi-

tional, but they’re not a patch on modern hi-tech screw caps. In Aussie lingo a ‘corker’ is a good thing. You could also say ripper, or beauty. That’s

what these wines are. They’re fresh, honest, youthful and exuberant wines that reflect the grape variety and the country they come from.

The Corker – Aussie for great wine.

The Corker range of wines was grown and produced in the renowned River land region of South Australia – a significant agricultural district noted

for the quality of its wine and table grapes, as well as a vast array of other fruit and fresh produce. Blessed with a truly Mediterranean climate,

abundant sunshine ensures that consistently high quality grapes are produced consistently, year after year.

Combine this favorable climate with ‘best practice’ vineyard management regimes, traditional winemaking philosophies and state-of-the-art produc-

tion facilities – and you have the perfect recipe for wines of extraordinary character, taste and integrity. All of this take place at the family-owned

winery of Salena Estate, which has been crafting world-class wines for over fifteen years.

The Corker extends the wide range of wines that Salena Estate already produces for markets around the globe and is sure to enhance its fine

reputation even further
