Description of how the animal’s body functions enable it to survive in

the hot/cold.

Solar radiation is absorbed by the tips, and the loose-packed inner

plumage insulates the skin. The resultant heat is prevented from flowing

to the skin by the insulation provided by the coat, allowing the bird to be

active during the heat of the day.

For normal breathing in cooler weather, they have large, multi-folded

nasal passages. Cool air warms as it passes through into the

lungs, extracting heat from the nasal region.

Description of the habitat of the animal.

The emu is common over most of mainland

Australia, although it avoids heavily populated areas, dense

forest, and arid areas.

Question 5 of the worksheet.

“No one owes Singapore a living.”

“We find our own way to survive and prosper, turning challenge into opportunity.”

5) How can we ensure Singapore’s economic competitiveness?

1. It is based on the understanding that besides military action, aggressors can also defeat the country by wrecking its economic systems tearing its social fabric apart, targeting Singaporeans' beliefs and commitment to defense, and its ability to recover from disasters, both natural and man-made.

2. The Total Defense concept encompasses five key aspects –military, civil, economic, social and psychological defense – and focuses on the need for each Singaporean to play his or her part to defend the nation.

Page 13: Zoo Trip based on Emu

5A) How was the animal evolved or adapted itself to

survive?

NATIONAL EDUCATION

The emu has a number of adaptations which enhance its

ability to survive in Australia's many and varied

climates

1. Emus have three toes, unlike the ostrich, which

has only two. Having three toes equips the emu

more efficiently for running.

2. Emus have strong endurance, being able to run at a

steady, loping pace for a long time.

3. When food is plentiful, emus can store extra

fat, which they may then rely on as they move on

to a new food source.

4. Emus are nomadic, moving between food sources.

They are therefore not restricted to living in

just one area, dying out when drought creates

severe food shortage.

National Education Question 6 of the worksheet

“We must preserve racial and religious harmony.”

“We value our diversity and are determined to stay a untied people.”

6) How do we ensure a cohesive society?

The Government has mad some points of making a cohesive society by taking this in notice:o GROWING STRONG SINGAPOREAN FAMILIESo Strong families are the bedrock of our society.o IMMIGRATION HELPS TO SUPPLEMENT SHORTFALL IN BIRTHSLike this the Government is having a good progress. The Government has also been exploring more ways to bring the people, public and private sectors together to focus on integration. This will help provide platforms for Singaporeans and newcomers to interact, build friendships, and better appreciate Singapore’s multi-racial, multi-religious society.

Group reflections and photo!Al Zikry’s reflection:

The journey was interesting as we as a class get to work as a team, bonding together. I have learnt that we have to take good care of the animals as some of its population is decreasing. For example, the white tiger, the pandas and others.

Norman’s Reflection: Its my first time visiting the zoo. The zoo was bigger than the one in Indonesia and also there are more animals there. I enjoyed my self and i learned allot about the animal life style. I had a great time and I was able to do my task on time.

Page 23: Zoo Trip based on Emu

Group reflections and photo!Mei Yeun’s Reflection: I enjoy going to the zoo and I have fun with my classmates. I have learnt many things in the zoo. I also learnt how the animals behave differently.

Saranjit’s Reflection:

Being the leader of the group, I had a enjoyable time.

My group members were quite understanding and

enjoyable to work with. I enjoyed the journey. I helped

my group in the problems they had over there. This

journey was quite interesting and enjoyable.

Ali’s Reflection:As a science expert I had to observe most of the animal’s characteristics. It was hard but a little focus and support I was able to do and manage it. I enjoyed the trip with my team members and I learned a lot of interesting facts about a certain animal
