Zlwin Chew is a well known practitioner of the art magic and mentalism. Since his early childhood he has been

fascinated by mysteries and magic, always trying to comprehend how they happen. Few years back, he joined a

magic club and was exposed to a whole new world of magic and performing art.

He then ventured further down the magical path. The love for the art of prestidigitation never left him.

When we were young and innocent, everything around us seemed magical. We awed at the rising of the sun and

the chirping birds. We were amazed at how the television works and how airplanes fly. As we grow older,

however, we start to understand how things work and logic sets in. We then lose our ability to feel amazed at

things. But Magic has the power to bring back that childhood moment in every one of us, where we can once

again be amazed and genuinely exclaim, “Wow! How did you do that?!”

This would be the firewood that fuels Zlwin’s passion and love for this beautiful Art.


Zlwin has been invited to perform personally to some of the country's most renowned and reputable

personalities. Some of them include:

Being radical and fresh is in his blood. He likes to do

things out of the ordinary and walk on unchartered

territories. Zlwin currently works for Kuala Lumpur's

most prestigious and recognized club, Zouk KL, as

their Resident Magician. He came into the club scene

bringing magic - a whole new and radical idea in

Malaysia. Until today, Zouk Club KL is the only club

in Malaysia to have a Resident Magician in its premises.

Being familiar with the clubbing environment, he is

able to incorporate magic very well into his stints at

night. Performing magic in crowded areas with low

lightings and very loud music is no stranger to Zlwin.

Zlwin specializes in Mentalism, a sub-division of

Magic. Blurring the lines between reality and

imagination, the Mentalist creates illusions of mind

reading, precognition, telepathy and psychokinetic

power. Being a Mentalist, his stage repertoire

showcases a full mentalism show in which he is seen

to be able to guess correctly a random word a

spectator is thinking of, to impossibly bend metal, to

break light bulbs by just staring at them and to

accurately predict things, among many other feats.

In January 2011, Zlwin performed at India’s Techfest 2011 in

front of almost 22, 000 people. Techfest: Asia’s Largest

Science and Technology Festival was held at Mumbai, India

and draws forward more than 70, 000 visitors each year.

In July 2011, Zlwin made his Middle-East debut show at The Sultanate of Oman, Arab.

He was flown to Oman to launch the much anticipated Samsung Galaxy S II phone by Samsung.

Zlwin is also Samsung Malaysia’s Brand Ambassador and was invited to perform at the press conference and

official launch of the phone in Oman. The event was attended by the CEOs and marketing directors of Samsung

Korea, Samsung Gulf Electronics and Samsung Dubai.


Early in 2011, Zlwin was the first magician to be a

TED speaker at TEDxKL which was held at Kuala

Lumpur, Malaysia.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas

Worth Spreading. At TED, the world's leading

thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their

lives in 18 minutes. TED speakers have included Bill

Gates, Al Gore, Michelle Obama and Steve Jobs.

International Luxury Brands such as Louis Vuitton has hired Zlwin to

spread his magic at some of their most prestigious events of the year.

Zlwin was the first magician in Malaysia to have shows with Louis

Vuitton.

He has also performed for brands such as Calvin Klein, DKNY,

Armani Exchange, Marc Jacobs and Mulberry.


Some of Zlwin’s overseas projects and shows include performing at Australia’s Aussie Millions Poker

Championship 2012. He was invited to perform at the 10th Anniversary Party at Crown Hotel and Casino,

Melbourne, Australia.


Zlwin was the official spokesperson for Malaysia’s launch of Hong Kong movie, “The Great Magician” starring

Hong Kong Superstar Sean Lau Ching Wan. The movie launch was officiated by Lau Ching Wan himself when

he came to Malaysia for the movie’s press conference. Zlwin was invited to perform alongside the Hong Kong

artiste during the press conference as well as the public launch and screening of the movie at Pavilion Mall,

Kuala Lumpur.

back to Hong Kong.” – Sean Lau Ching Wan, Hong Kong Superstar and International Artiste.


One of Asia’s leading cruise company, Star Cruises invited Zlwin

to perform on board their largest ship – the Superstar Virgo. He is

the first Malaysian magician to perform for Star Cruises and

headlined entertainment highlight.


Lady Gaga performed at one of Sydney’s most iconic place – the Sydney Town Hall, in 2011. Fast forward to

May 2012, Zlwin travelled to Australia for the second time and he had the honor to perform at the very same

place Lady Gaga did her show. Zlwin did his show for a private and high end dinner function in front of an

audience of 700 people.

Having a following and many friends in Australia, the University of Sydney invited Zlwin to come to their

campus to do a show. It was organized by the University of Sydney Union (USU) and Chocosoc.


Magic is versatile and unique in many ways and Zlwin specializes in club performances. Being the Resident

Magician in Malaysia’s number one club, Zouk Club KL, he is frequently invited to perform in some of

Melbourne city’s most well known clubs. These magic nights are organized by TANG Events Melbourne.


Zlwin has also journeyed to Istanbul, Turkey, to do his debut show at one of the world’s most renowned hotel –

the Ciragan Palace located in Kempinski. There he performed for an international audience of about 1000

guests.


Magic is something that seems like it goes against how the world works and it is us magicians who have the

privilege to demonstrate it.

There are no tricks in magic, only wonder.


Magic is not contained in the tricks or illusions. It is in the smile and laughter of an individual thinking, for a

brief moment - that anything is possible.


Think, for a moment, about what makes magic special. A coin disappears, and for a split second, we're children

again. It isn't a magician's skills or top hat that captivates people: it is the moment of true astonishment. Most

moments of true astonishment are brief intervals right after an effect ends and before our rational adult minds

apply logic.

In the split second between these processes: a moment of childlike wonder.
