Zia BOD Minutes, April 19, 2018

The April 19, 2018 BOD meeting began at 0700 p.m. with President Charles Moots presiding. A quorum of the BOD was achieved, with 12/22

attending.

Item I-Approval of Minutes and Agenda- The minutes of the March 15, 2018 Annual Meeting was approved with no changes. The agenda was

approved with two additions to the agenda.

Item II-Treasurer's Report The Treasurer's report was presented by Treasurer Cleary. He reported on the very healthy financial status of the

Club. The Treasurer's report was approved.

Item III-Old Business Lease application status- Application of Lease Renewal is still open and negotiations are ongoing. UNM Collegiate

Shooters and the New Mexico Tech Shooting Club reported on their trip to 2018 NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championship held at Ft. Benning,

Georgia in March: Both teams enjoyed the competition and learned a great deal from training provided by the United States Army Marksmanship

Unit.

Item IV-New Business Date for 2019 Annual Meeting was set for January 17, 2019. Existing member renewal is proceeding well with 957

processed so far. Sporting Clay, Lindsey Evans requested $2831 for a new trap. Motion Approved. New Member Orientation, Need for a June

session was discussed and agreed.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m. The next BOD meeting will be held at the American Legion, Post 49,

On June 3, 2018, Zia will host NRA approved Smallbore Rifle Silhouette Matches during the usual match times. In addition to the standard competitor classifications, these matches will include an “unclassified” category for new shooters.

NRA National Silhouette Competitions are being held at Whittington Center in Raton, NM, in July this year. Our matches will allow competitors to compete locally and get classified at our home range before possibly going to Nationals.

Zia’s Sporting Clay course has expanded from 10 stations to 12 stations. Shooters can choose to shoot a 50 target course, 6 stations, or 100 target course which is 12 stations. Cost to shoot is $8.00 for the 50 target course or $15.00 for the 100 target course. Juniors shoot for free and Zia will provide junior shooters with 2 boxes of shotgun shells (20ga. or 12 ga.). The Sporting Clay Activity is held on the 3rd Sunday of every month and shooting starts at 9:30 a.m. Sign up by emailing to:ziasignupsc@gmail.com no later than the Saturday before the shoot. Though email signup is preferred, walk-up sign in is allowed but shooters must be signed in no later than 9:15 a.m. Squads of up to 7 shooters is allowed. So if you haven’t shot Zia’s Sporting Clay course, come out and give it a try. Remember taking part in the various Zia activities is a good way to take advantage of your Zia membership.

0We lucked out again and had fairly nice conditions to shoot in. At lease there were not strong winds, but they were a little tricky at times. Katrina set new PR’s for both a single target and for the match. Congratulations to her! The next match will be a six target, club match.

We had a nice day for the match, warm with light winds which proved to be a little bit challenging at times. We had a new shooter, Harold Anderson, who we all enjoyed and hope he comes back. Katrina Dietz, who was just shooting her third match, set personal records for both a single target and total aggregate. She is really coming along and the rest of us better be on our toes.

our 50th Anniversary pin design. They look great and are very affordable at prices between $10 & $15.

Instructions for ordering Zia Logo Caps from Cabelas

1. Look up desired cap(s) on Cabelas.com website to get the specific item number code. (At the bottom of Home page, click on

“Corporate Sales”, then “View Catalog”. There are at least 10 styles of caps, all of good quality (use price as your guide) and they are

10% less than listed to Zia members.

2. When you know the cap(s) you want to order, Call Cabelas Embroidery at 1-877-892-4424. Tell them you want to order a or

some customized cap(s) using account # 54204738. the Zia oval is #30021361: The “Right to Keep and Bear Arms, etc. is #30021359.

Some caps can’t be sewn on the back, because of the design of the cap. The base colors for the logo are: Yellow center, Red outline

around the oval, red Zia symbol: black Zia lettering inside. Thread color changes for the desired contrasts are available at no charge. The

sales reps will help you with color selection if you desire. The application is free and all you pay is for the listed price (less 10%) and

shipping.
