The ram-air intake manifold mounted atop of the Zeoair odour abatement screen is an intake design which uses dynamic air pressure created by air in motion whereto increase the static air pressure inside of the intake manifold, thus forcing a greater mass flow of odiferous air into the filtration medium for subsequent adsorption. The ram scoop is positioned to face the odour source in order to intercept and reduce downwind odour emissions from transmitting to suburban areas. Reverse flowing winds engaging the back of the Ram creates a negative pressure within the filtration assembly thus defining the ram as a Wind Induction cowl which draws odiferous air by vacuum into the filtration media via the perforated pre filter sheathing.

All Zeoair odour abatement screens are constructed from fully welded galvanised steel channel framing, with pre filter sheathing options of galvanised or stainless woven metal mesh or galvanised perforated steel foruse in environments that may subject the panels to incidental impacts.

For the budget conscious, Zeoair manufacture economical odour abatement screens utilising for the pre filter sheath, a heavy duty 150 g/m2 U.V resistant monofilament HDPE woven fabric ranging in varied colours.

The HDPE woven fabric is robust and is guaranteed for 10 years against UV degradation, in the event of accidental tear or rupture, Zeoair can supply“Slip on” replacement pre filter sheaths, patches and reinforcement banding with associated ratchet tensioner. Or please call our maintenance team.

The high density polyethylene woven fabric used for the pre filtration of airborne particulates such as dust and debris has a high burst strength tensile and is further reinforced with galvanised bands under tension for containing the loose fill Zeoair odour adsorption granules within the frame whereto mitigate rupture of the HDPE membrane.

The fabric aperture having 50 percent porosity allows high flow through of odiferous air streams to engage against the porous catalytic compound for removal of odours and other gaseous species which are subsequently adsorbed within the ionic matrix inherent of the amorphous carbon and activated aluminosilicate filtration media contained therein the sheath.

The optional rotary wind turbine vent mounted atop of the Zeoair odour abatement screen is an intake design which draws odiferous air by vacuum into the filtration media via both sides of the perforated pre filter sheathing. The negative pressure generated by the wind-stack driven ventilation turbine enhances the scrubbing of odiferous air and exhausts it to higher relative levels pending the designated height of the stack comparative to the odour source at ground level. The stack can be made to varied heights.

Low cost Zeoair odour abatement fencing is constructed fromeconomical heavy duty 150 g/m2 U.V resistant monofilament HDPE woven fabric ranging in varied colours. The double laminar fabric is stitch quilted to form pockets that are filled with the granulated Zeoair catalytic odour adsorption compound and further taped and hemmed for reinforcement at the edges whereto allow slide fit of various structural support elements such as pipe or box section to go through an integrally sewn sleeve in order to drape and secure the top and bottom of the flexible roll out panel.

The double laminar quilted odour adsorption woven fabric assembly can have added brass or stainless grommets to the edge seams at varied intervals. Poly webbing tape is required for the addition of grommets and is sewn or hot welded onto the edge of HDPE fabric to reinforce the edge and provide extra strength for an eyelet whereby the flexible quilted assembly may be suspended by wire lacing, ties, hooks or clips to various structural support elements such as pipe or box section.

The HDPE flexible woven quilted panels are typically manufactured by long arm sewing machine or alternatively by Hot Wedge thermoplastic fusion welding .

On site assembly comprises of rolling out the low cost Zeoair odour abatement flexible membrane and affixing through the hemmed sleeves the lateral structural support members, loose placement of the slip on flanges then easily lifted and subsequently bolted to the support posts which have been secured to the concrete pad or footing located at the prescribed centers. Once the draped membrane and horizontal structural support members have been fastened to the posts, the loose fill catalytic compound is blown or poured into the quilted pockets integrally sewn into the double laminar ply comprising the flexible permeable woven membrane. Once the pockets are filled near to the top header space the remaining material is hand tack stitch closed. Alternatively the panels are factory filled with the odour adsorption granules and stitch sealed prior to onsite delivery whereby fence assembly on site shall be conducted using a small 300kg jib crane.

Environmental enforcement agencies are beginning to view odour as a controllable pollutant and are undertaking stern enforcement of regulations on violators.

Odour control is a significant environmental concern of manufacturing, food processing and institutional locations. In todays modern world Corporate-wide sustainable development initiatives stress environmental impact and the importance of community relationships.

Wastewater and sewerage treatment plants are often in close proximity to urban estates, and residents insist on an odour-free environment, odour control of wastewater treatment plants, is now a primary design consideration for most collection and treatment facilities. As urban development encroaches on existing facilities residents become less tolerant of nuisance odours.

Wastewater professionals have found the need to address odour as a primary concern in the design and operation of collection and treatment facilities.

The ZEOAIR odour abatement panels and flexible fencing have been specially developed to eliminate and reduce offensive odours emanating from industrial sites such as landfills, sewage plants, compost sites, recycling centres, meat rendering plants and food processing facilities etc.

The ZEOAIR odour abatement panels and fencing system intercepts odour molecules that are wind borne from traversing to residential estates and urban areas whereto minimise odours by acting as a wind break and react with odour molecules in the vapour phase by adsorbing the noxious gases and odiferous compounds by cationic exchange.

In terms of odour control, adsorption typically refers to the use of Zeoair activated aluminosilicate blended with activated carbon granules to adsorb odourous compounds within the porous honeycomb structure comprising the ionic granules contained within the perforated fencing or panel sheaths . This is usually accomplished by the odourous air passing through the perforated fencing panels, allowing the adsorptive process to occur, and releasing the scrubbed air into the atmosphere.

The adsorption process is whereby the odour molecules ionically are drawn to adhere to the surface and internal surface areas of the activated aluminosilicate/carbon particles of which possesses a very large internal surface area due to the porosity of the catalytic material.

There are times when the odour source is quite close to a facility fence line. Some odour control technologies have an odour unit level at their discharge that might not be acceptable if the neighbours are close to the fence line. For example, bio-filters typically have an effluent odour unit level between 200 and 400 Odour Units. This level may represent a considerable reduction of odours prior to the bio-filter but may still be too high for the neighbours.

Page 17: Zeoair abatement panels

At composting facilities, the creation of odours cannot be completely avoided since the process of organic material degradation produces a variety of odorous compounds. Aerobic decomposition is characterised by sweet, woody smells. However, if conditions within the decomposing material become anaerobic, the odours become stronger and more offensive. When the material is then turned or moved, these odours are released in significant quantities and transmitted to urban areas via wind. Our Odour Management Plan involves the placement of the ZEOAIR odour abatement panels and

flexible fencing strategically around putrescible waste odour screen which may are used to suppress emissions from open windrows.

Pending the level of odour pollutants adsorbed, onsite regeneration of the catalytic substrate contained within the perforated fencing sheath maybe required whereto maintain maximum odour adsorption capacity. However typically the Zeoair catalytic substrate is cleaned and regenerated by rain and sunshine.

If the fencing panels emit strong odour, then onsite regeneration of the ZEOAIR odour abatement panels or flexible fencing is economically achieved by wetting the Zeoair catalytic compound with a weak brine solution either sprayed onto or into the fencing .

This is achieved by the ZEOAIR maintenance service personnel utilising a special purpose vehicle to traverse the perimeter fencing whereto undertake the high pressure spraying of salt water upon the partitions, screens, panels or fence linings at least once a year using a boom sprayer or adding porous salt bags within the fencing for slow release of sodium ions to the catalytic compound dissolved via rains.

The ZEOAIR odour abatement fencing system is energy efficient and cost effective .

ZEOAIR catalytic compounds are non-toxic, safe, reusable, recyclable, natural and non-flammable.
