The Mathematics & Computer Science forum “ZEITGEIST” is a German word which means ‘ The spirit of generation’.
This session the Mathematics and computer Science Forum had a conclave of events under the aegis of
“Zeitgeist”. The motive of the Forum was to bring for-
ward the hidden talents of the students apart from their
academic schedule. A massive number of students par-
ticipated in the competitions with great enthusiasm.

MATHMANIA
(Impromptu Presentation)
The first event Mathmania was organized
for the Graduate students on 5th October
2016 & for the Post Graduate students of
Mathematics on 21st February 2017 which
was judged by Dr. Suja Varghese, Mrs. Seril
Saji & Mr. Netra Kumar Gupta.
The winners of Mathmania from U.G. were
1st- Mr. Doan Sinha (MC1) and 2nd- Mr.
Raja Solanki (M1) and from P.G. were 1st-
Ms. Kiran Suroshe and 2nd- Ms. Julie
Koshy.
Under the aegis of Zeitgeist , the P.G. Department of
Mathematics & Computer Science organized a Community
Service “ Learning With Fun” on 15th and 16th November,
2016 in St. Thomas College for students of Class IV & V
of Govt. Middle School, Ruabandha.
The first day 15th of November, the activity started with
the college prayer and welcoming of the teaching staff and
students of the school. The students were provided with
long exercise note books, pencils, erasers, crayons, and
chocolates by the staff, students and college management.
The first day session of Mathematics started with Introduc-
tion to fractions by Mr. Namdev (M.Sc. Mathematics– III
Sem), the session continued with operations of fraction by
Mr. Lalit Kishore (M.Sc. Mathematics– III Sem).

On the second day 16th of November, the one day session of Computer
Science started with Introduction to Computer and Hardware & Soft-
ware and description of Ms. Word, Calculator & Computer Software
was given by Ms. Ayushi, Ms. Laxmi, Ms. D. Kiran, Mr. Mayank
Priyadarshi & Mr. Aakash (PGDCA). This session was continued with
one hour practical session led by all the P.G students of the Depart-
ment.
Games were also conducted for the school students in which they par-
ticipated with great enthusiasm. Awards for the best student and win-
ners of the games were given by the Principal .
The Power Point Presentation “Scriptomania” was conducted
on 10th of November, open for all the students on the topic
“Beauty of Mathematics in and around the World” in which
first position was bagged by Mr. Tejesh Patel (B. Com Part-II)
and second prize was bagged by Mr. Namdev (M. Sc. III Se-
mester, Mathematics).
Another Power Point Presentation was conducted on 7th of
December, 2016 open for all the students on the topic
“Innovations in Computer Technology in last five years” in
which first position was bagged by Mr. Tejesh Patel (B. Com
Part-II) and second position was bagged by Ms. Nimita Pillai
(MC3) and third position by Ms. Akanksha (MC2).

the Siachen glacier. India has the biggest "voluntary" army in the
world. Indian soldiers are considered among the very
best in high altitude and mountain warfare. Operation Rahat (2013) was one of the biggest
civilian rescue operations ever carried out in the world.
The Bailey Bridge is the highest bridge in the
world built by the Indian Army in August 1982.
The army is considered as the third largest military contingent in the world next to USA and China.

The Mathematics quiz competition “ALGEBRAKERS” was con-ducted on 22nd September, 2016 (Prelims) and 10th January 2017(Final) in which the first position was bagged by Team (Cissoid) - Mr.
Lileshwar Sahu, Mr. Chandrakant Sahu & Mr. Pankaj Sahu.(MC1). Second position was bagged by Team (Astroid)- Ms. Aditi Sharma, Ms. Dipti Thakur & Ms. Yamini Dewangan. (M1)
