Ceramics from the Bronze Age on the Site Sokolica in Ostra near Cacak

Gradina settlement Sokolica in the village Ostra near Cacak geographically speaking belongs to the eastern outskirts of Cacak valley which makes western bor-der of Sumadija. Prehistoric settlement did not have preserved vertical stratigraphy, destroyed by building of the early Byzantium fortifi cation. Th us, pottery from pre-history is completely mixed in leveling, so selecting ceramics from the Bronze Age, its more precise cultural and chronological determination was carried out on the basis of stylistic-typological analyses. In prehistory, this settlement was inhabited throughout many millennia, from Eneolithic to the Iron Age. Ceramics from Bronze Age, which is kept in the National Museum in Cacak, is the biggest part of fi nd-ings which points out the intensity of life in this period. According to the shape and function, pottery has been divided into: cups, bowls, vessels for fi sh, lids, pots, and amphorae and pithoi. Analyzing the shape and decorations of these fi ndings it has been confi rmed that the Bronze Age settlement was developing from the early to the beginning of late Bronze Age. Culturally speaking, ceramics belong to development of Vatin culture including one very early phase called protovatin. One, for the time being the only one, fi nding of the dish with characteristics of the urns of Paracin cultural group opens a question of relationship between Vatin culture and Paracin cultural group in this part of western Pomoravlje.

La cramique de lge de bronze la localit de Sokolica Ostra, prs de Cacak

Lhabitat clos de Sokolica dans le village dOstra, prs de Cacak, appartient gographiquement la priphrie orientale du bassin de Cacak qui forme la frontire occidentale de la Sumadija. Lhabitat prhistorique ne possda pas de stratigraphie verticale conserve, dtruite par ldifi cation dune fortifi cation de la priode ancienne byzantine. De cette faon, la poterie de la Prhistoire est au complet mlange dans la couche de nivellement, de sorte que la sparation de la cramique de lge de bronze, sa subtile orientation culturelle et chronologique fut excute daprs une analyse stylistique-typologique. la Prhistoire, cet habitat clos fut peupl travers plusieurs millnaires, de lnolithe lge de fer. La cramique de lge de bronze, daprs ltat daujourdhui des matriaux, qui est conserve au Muse national Cacak, constitue la plus grande partie des trouvailles, ce qui fait ressortir lintensit de lexistence pendant cette priode. Conformment la forme et la fonction, la poterie est classifi e en: coupes, cuelles, tasses, soi-disant rcipients pour le poisson, couvercles, marmittes, amphores et ptos. travers lanalyse de la forme et de la dcoration de ces trouvailles, il est dtermin que lhabitat de lge du bronze se dveloppa de lge ancien lge rcent du bronze. Culturellement, la cramique appartient au dveloppement de la culture de Vatin, y compris aussi une phase extrmement prcoce qualifi e de proto-vatine. Pour le moment, la trouvaille isole dun rcipient avec des caractristiques durnes du groupe culturel de Paracin soulve la question de relation entre la culture de Vatin et du groupe culturel de Paracin dans cette partie du Pomoravlje occidental.

Images of Vessels on One Ara from the Classical Period Collection of the National Museum in Cacak

On the votive ara, which served as an altar-table in the cemetery church in Jez-dina in the mid XIX century, there are two vessels on both sides a jug on the foot and a shallow vessel of a ring bottom and a long handle with profiled end. The ara was built by a commander of one military unit cohorts VIII voluntariorum centurion Livius Maternus in the honor of Jupiter and Genius loci in 197.

In this work there is a discussion about the purpose of the presented vessels. It is a set of vessels used in everyday life but they also talk about the cult of the inhabit-ants in the Roman period. These sets of vessels were used for hands washing before meals, or sacrifice act. Sets of vessels were recorded on beneficiary monuments in five provinces of the west part of the Roman Empire (Britannia, Germania Superior, No-ricum, Pannonia Superior and Pannonia Inferior), while in eastern provinces there is a lack of these vessels. However, we find images of the set of vessels on the thumbs in the eastern part of the province Dalmatia, in the region of Kosjeric, Uzice and Pozega, which were settled with Celtic population.

The jug and a vessel with a handle from the arae in Jezdina belong to Canter-bury-type of sets according to the classification of H.U. Nuber. This type was made of bronze and was widely spread all over Roman Empire, especially during II-III century and it was produced in Italic, Gallic and Pannonian workshops, and it was also imi-tated in ceramic forms, recorded in legion centers from Britain to Bulgaria.

Les reprsentations de rcipients sur une autel de la collection antique du Muse national Cacak

Sur lautel votif, qui au milieu du XIXme sicle servait de ciborium lglise spucrale Jezdina, figurent sur les parties latrales deux rcipients une cruche, au pied, et un rcipient peu profond, fond en anneau et poigne longue avec une extrmit profile. Lautel fut difie, en lhonneur de Jupiter (Iuppiter) et du Gnie du lieu (Genius loci) en 197, par le centurion Livius Maternus, commandant de lunit cohors VIII voluntariorum.

Dans ce travail, on discute sur lemploi des rcipients prsents. Il sagit dun ensemble de rcipients, utilis dans la vie quotidienne, mais aussi dans le culte des citoyens de lAntiquit. De tels ensembles de rcipients servaient au lavage des mains, avant le commencement du repas, du repas funbre ou de lacte de sacrifice. Les ensembles de rcipients sont inscrits sur des monuments bnficiaires dans cinq provinces de la partie occidentale de lEmpire romain (Britannia, Germania Superior,

Noricum, Pannonia Superior et Pannonia Inferior), dans les provinces orientales leur absence se manifeste. Cependant, on trouve des reprsentations densembles de rcipients sur les monuments funraires dans la partie orientale de la province de Dalmatie, dans la rgion de Kosjeric, dUzice et de Pozega, qui tait peuple par des habitants celtes.

La cruche et le rcipient poigne longue de lautel de Jezdina appartiennent lensemble de type Canterbury, selon la classification dH. U. Nuber. Le type tait fabriqu en bronze et tait extrmement rpandu dans lEmpire romain entier, surtout durant le IIme-IIIme sicle, et il tait fabriqu dans les ateliers italiques, gaulois et pannoniens, mais aussi il tait imit dans les for es cramiques, releves dans les centres de lgion de la Grande-Bretagne jusqu la Bulgarie.

Medieval Rings from the Collection of the National Museum in Cacak

National Museum in Cacak possesses 18 rings which have not been specially considered in its collection. They are accidental findings, found while carrying out agricultural or building works and which were either bought by the Museum or gift-ed by citizens. Three rings were found during archeological excavations.

Basic design of rings did not change much from the Classical period to the end of Middle Ages. Variations in shape were mainly conditioned by their purpose and art trend of the time, but the main shape of a ring-round link-remained. The part which was transforming was the top crown of a ring, the part of the link which widens into a head. Ornament and composition are those elements that present the spirit of the time when the ring was created. The shape could have been unusual for the time, but decoration was closely connected with the certain period and rarely did it happen that the old forgotten ornament was revived in the same manner.

The rings analyzed here were used everyday, and the only exception was the ring which belongs to a group of rings which were used for shooting arrows (arrow rings).

Seal ring made of silver and decorated in a special technique with a stylized monogram NIKOLA SN, stands out from the collection. The ring is lavishly dec-orated on the neck and along the whole link by the ornament of geometrical floral decoration in the shape of vine leaves, while the bottom part of the link is shaped as a plastic rosette which is convex and with double interlaced ornament.

Dating of the ring was carried out according to numerous analogies and it is the time between XII and XVI centuries. We have found analogies in the regions of Podunavlje and Bulgaria, Branicevo region, Kosovo and Metohija as well as in todays Macedonia.

Les bagues moyengeuses de la collection du Muse national Cacak

Le Muse national Cacak, dans sa collection, possde 18 bagues qui jusqu prsent nont pas t particulirement examines. Il sagit de trouvailles occasionnelles, dcouvertes lors de lexcution de travaux agricoles ou de travaux de construction, qui sont parvenues au muse par rachat ou en tant que cadeaux de certains habitants. Trois bagues ont t trouves loccasion de fouilles archologiques.

La forme lmentaire de la bague a trs peu chang depuis lAntiquit, et mme jusquau Moyen-ge. Les variantes dans la forme sont conditionnes par son affectation et par le mouvement artistique de ce temps, mais la forme primaire de la bague: anneau arrondi, reste la mme. Ce qui change sur la bague, cest la tte la couronne de la bague, cest--dire la partie de lanneau qui slargit en la tte. Lornement et la composition sont les lments travers lesquels on peut lire lesprit du temps duquel le bague provient. Si frquemment atypique que la forme soit pour son poque, la parure sattache fermement un temps prcis et il arrive rarement quun ornement oubli depuis longtemps revive dans le mme esprit.

Les bagues, ici analyses, sont utilises dans lusage quotidien, et la seule exception reprsente la bague qui appartient au type de bagues utilis pour le dcochage de la flche (le soi-disant anneau pour larc).

De cette collection, il faut dtacher la bague cacheter excute en argent et orne par la technique de niellure, avec le monogramme stylis du propritaire, NIKOLA KOSN. La bague est richement dcore sur le col et le long de lanneau entier par un ornement dun dcor floral gomtrique et par un aspect de feuilles et de vigne, et la partie infrieure de lanneau est faonne sous forme de rosace excute en plastique, convexe, dans un ornement de double entrelacement.

La datation des bagues a t effectue daprs de nombreuses analogies, et temporairement est dtermin la priode du XIIme au XVIme sicle. Nous trouvons des analogies sur le territoire du Podunavlje et de la Bulgarie, de la rgion du Branicevo, du Kosovo et de la Metohija et de la Macdoine daujourdhui.

Leaving of the Remaining Turks from Goracici

There are few preserved documents about the time and way the last remaining Turks (and Islamized Serbs) left Dragacevo, a region in West Serbia, after the Second Serbian Uprising in 1815. It happened that year and in the following years, for sure. Numerous toponyms testify that they used to live in this part of Serbia: Aniste, Turske kucerine (Turkish big houses), Dzamija (mosque), Turcinovac, Adzibovac,

However, there are two documents about the last Turks in Dragacevo Goracici letters sent to Cacak to Duke Vasa Popovic, chief of Pozega (Cacak) region. One letter was sent by Duke Milos Obrenovic from Kragujevac in 1823, while the second one was sent by Serbian delegation from Carigrad (Istanbul) in 1828. In both letters Turks who left Goracici were mentioned by names, and that is the topic of this work.

propos des derniers Turcs de Goracici du Dragacevo sont conservs deux documents des lettres, adresses Cacak au prince Vasa Popovic, le prpos du district de Pozega (celle qui est prs de Cacak). Lune fut adresse en 1823 de Kragujevac par le prince Milos Obrenovic et la seconde en 1828 de Constantinople par la dputation serbe, qui rsida l-bas. Dans les deux lettres nominalement sont mentionns les Turcs dlogs de Goracici, ce qui est justement le thme de ce travail.

Veselin Milikic in Memories of his Contemporaries

Veselin Milikic (18591914) is one of the most important presidents of Cacak municipality, whose leader was from 1906 to 1914 when his life tragically ended. His personality was characterized by honesty, justice loving, philanthropy and great industriousness. As a prominent radical he was elected national tribune and he was close to Ranko Tajsic, Stojan Protic and Nikola Pasic. During his governing of the municipality, roads and railway were built, thorough preparations for building a water supply system were carried out, and a hospital was built as well as barracks and slaughterhouse, a gym, as well as other buildings which are still in use. Thanks to him a base for developing a modern town of Cacak was created.

Veselin Milikic dans les souvenirs des contemporains

Veselin Milikic (18591914) fut un des maires les plus remarquables de la commune de Cacak, la tte de laquelle il fut de lanne 1906 lanne 1914, lorsque son existence se termina tragiquement. Son image fut agrmente par les plus belles caractristiques telles que lhonntet, lhumanisme et une grande impartialit . En tant que radical minent, il fut lu dput national et fut en relations troites avec Ranko Tajsic, Stojan Protic et Nikola Pasic. Pendant son gouvernement la mairie, les routes et les chemins de fer furent construits, le rempart municipal pour la dfense face aux inondations fut achev, le btiment du Lyce fut commenc, les prparations fondamentales pour la construction de laqueduc furent effectues, lhpital, la caserne, labattoir, la Maison des membres de la socit de gymnastique Soko, ainsi que dautres constructions qui sont mme aujourdhui en usage, furent difis. Par son mrite fut ainsi fonde la base pour le dveloppement du Cacak moderne.
