Relive the world of one of Croatia’s most famous politicians and artists from the Austro-Hungarian period, a man who dedicated his life to art and to

the welfare of the people of Zagreb under diffi cult times. Artefacts, documents, and paintings help

keep his legacy alive and not to be forgotten.

Badurina’s focus is on museums; museum arte-facts to be precise. He presents 50 works with

digital editing and sound, he cuts/pastes, collages, and he uses pop art to present paradoxes in rela-

tion to the origins and symbolism of these arte-facts with his classic sense of humour and irony.

Half a century after her fi rst solo exhibition, Nives Kavurić-Kurtović, one of Croatia’s most prominent

painters will exhibit her works once again. Her surreal, intense and phantasmagorical paintings,

as well as the use of refi ned colours in her artwork, have earned her an important place in the pan-

theon of Croatian art and artists.

Art historians can indulge as this exhibition will show the period of socialist realism (1945–1950) and its deconstruction (1950–1955) in Tito’s for-

mer Yugoslavia as well social, political and cultural aspects of that post-war totalitarian era, while its

relics still remain in people’s collective memory in Croatia.

When vision turns to reality, when layers of surface become three-dimensional, when colours sway
