Under dynamic leadership of Hon'ble Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah and guidance / persuasion of Jenab Ali Mohmammad Sagar Hon'ble Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj J&K, the department has laid a mile stone by conducting Panchayat Elections after 32 years.

By making Panchayati Raj system functional in the State, the Department has changed the entire scenario in the work culture by making involvement of lowest gross root level representation of people for socio-economic and political development.

Government is committed for providing the facility of Panchayat Ghars to each Panchayat.

Rs. 285.00 crores stand released by the Government for construction of 1800 new Panchayat Ghars and repair / renovation of existing ones in Kashmir Division.
