June 10, 2014 Dear Friends and Supporters, We want to welcome you all to this celebration of YouthBridge-NY’s Fellows, graduating Bridgers and honorees. YouthBridge-NY creates opportunities for its diverse young leaders to learn about each other and appreciate our city’s diversity. Through the fellowship, these leaders grow and understand how they can solve problems together, making our city, and its communities, a better place for all. Tonight we also honor those who have made significant contributions of their time, talent and treasure to ensure that YouthBridge-NY continues to play a pivotal role in our city’s present and future. We wish to thank Norman Seabrook, Carol Elias, Victoria Elias, and Suzanne Davidowitz for being part of making this evening such a tremendous success. Thank you for being partners in this important effort to empower and inspire YouthBridge-NY’s young leaders. It is only through these partnerships and your support that this important work can continue. And finally, thank you to the dedicated members of the board of directors, and the YouthBridge-NY staff. We look forward to a continued relationship with all of you in the work and mission of YouthBridge-NY. Yours truly, Abenaa Udochi Bob Kaplan Chair Founding Director YouthBridge-NY Board of Directors YouthBridge-NY

YouthBridge-NY is a nonprofit leadership development organization that convenes and trains young people to meet the challenges of an increasingly diverse New York City. Since 1997, YouthBridge-NY youth leaders have been proactively involved in enhancing the leadership and diversity landscape of our city and are dedicated to improving the quality of life for all. The YouthBridge-NY Fellowship is a two-year program for high school juniors and seniors. First-year Fellows participate in monthly skill building workshops and specialized action committees focused on either grant-giving, diversity through photography, or an internship to understand diversity in the workplace. After a year of acquiring important leadership skills and experiencing diversity learning, second-year Bridgers are given the opportunity to further enhance and hone these skills. Bridgers meet monthly to learn about community organizing, building social media campaigns, and diversity and opportunities in college. In addition, Fellows and Bridgers participate in an orientation summer retreat, special meetings with corporate and city leaders, build friendships with peers from all five-boroughs, and much more.

Cultural Eye Committee: Fellows work with a professional photographer and staff to understand the many facets of diversity in New York City and how it may be captured through photography. Fellows take pictures of themselves, their friends, their cultures, and their communities. Throughout the process they look at themselves, their peers, and social media in a different way. Fellows create an end-of-year exhibit and sell their work.

Mahin Rahaman Shared Resources for a Shared Future Committee: Fellows have the opportunity to explore the world of grants and fundraising within the context of diversity and resource sharing. The committee is given money to distribute mini-grants and creates an RFP. They receive applications from community & school-based organizations addressing education, health or immigration with diverse youth, and through consensus building choose grant recipients.
