As an active Trustee and Director of Kganya Benefits Fund Trust and the Kganya Group of Companies, I remain keenly interested in their

activities as a major service organisation to Zion Christian Church. The Kganya Group celebrated its 28th anniversary in March of 2017. Zion Christian Church has celebrated over 100 years of existence and this is indeed a remarkable era for both organisations.

I have come to the realisation that much has been achieved from very humble beginnings and both the Kganya Group and Church Officials must be commended for the manner in which they continue to be of service to you the individual member and loyal follower of Zion Christian Church.

I exhort the Kganya Group to continue to execute its mandate for the benefit of the congregation. I also urge you, as the ZCC member, to continue proving your loyalty and to freely make use of the many real benefits that the Kganya Group has to offer you. These are benefits that make a positive difference in the life of each member and as the Leader of the Church I remain comfortable that Church Leadership is doing everything in its power to ensure that members of the Church do not suffer unnecessarily.

Under my direction the Kganya Group will continue to develop products and projects that are of benefit to members of the Church. These products must at all times reflect the unity that we feel as members of the Church. They must always be dignified and must serve a real purpose in ensuring the prosperity of our members. I will always have the final say on what product I would deem suitable to the membership of the Church.

The Kganya Mahlasedi Policy (the Policy) is distributed via a Call Centre operation in terms of a joint venture between Sanlam Developing Markets Limited (SDM) and Kganya Alternative Distribution (Pty) Ltd (Kganya). Members of ZCC who are interested in taking out a Policy should approach a member of their Church Committee. The Committee member will complete a “Please Call Me” form which will be forwarded to the SDM Call Centre. Upon receipt of this form, a Call Centre Agent (who is a member of ZCC) will call the interested party and conclude the Policy.

Alternatively, members of ZCC who require more information about the Policy can call the Kganya Helpline on 0800 000 538 or visit the Kganya website (www.mykganya.com)

“Please Call Me” forms and marketing material are distributed to the Zion Christian Church Committees by Kganya Insurance Administrators (Pty) Ltd (RF) via the Service Centre Managers.

SDM underwrites the Policy on an individual policy basis and provides all administrative services. The Policy is voluntary. Both immediate and extended family members are eligible for cover. The Policy provides a Death Benefit of up to R30 000 cover on a sliding scale basis.

The product will be sold on an individual basis.

PREMIUMS Premiums are payable by debit order and are differentiated by the life assured’s age at the start of cover. Please note that all ages herein refer to the age at last birthday.

GROSS MONTHLY PREMIUMS The applicable gross monthly premiums are as follows:

* Maximum Age at Entry for Immediate and Extended Children is 21 for non-students and 25 for full time students at a recognized educational institution. Children, aged 22 – 25, will only be covered

under the Extended Child premium if they are full time students at a recognized educational institution. Children who do not meet the eligibility requirements may be covered as Extended Family

Members from age 22, subject to restrictions on cover for minors as specified in the Long Term Insurance Act.

ELIGIBILITY Cover is voluntary for all individuals.

START OF COVERCover Starts on the 1st (first) day of the following month after receipt of the first Premium.

END OF COVERPREMIUMS, LAPSES AND GRACE PERIODPremiums are due monthly in advance on or before the first day of every month. The Policyholder has a Grace Period from the first day of the month to pay that month’s premium. Cover will continue, with no reduction in cover, during the Grace Period. The Policy will lapse at the end of the Grace Period if the premium is not paid within the Grace Period.

Throughout the term of the Policy, if a premium is not paid when due, there will be one month of grace i.e. cover will continue and the Premium Payer has one month to pay the premium.

The Grace Period will be one calendar month when cover starts, however, the Grace Period will be extended by one calendar month for each complete 12 calendar month period that the Policy has been in-force. The Grace Period can be extended up to a maximum of 6 calendar months.

Any outstanding premiums will be deducted from the Burial Benefit before payment is made.

LAPSES AFTER THE MAXIMUM ENTRY AGEUpon attaining age 75, the prinicpal, spouse(s), children (up to their maximum ages) and extended family members will continue to be covered on condition that monthly premiums payable are received. In the event that a time lapse occurs, cover for that particular person will be cancelled and cannot be reinstated, unless done for the first time under the reinstatement rules (within 3 months of the lapse).

Upon attaining age 85, parents and parents-in-law will continue to be covered on condition that the monthly premiums payable are received. In the event that a lapse occurs, cover for that particular parent will be cancelled and cannot be reinstated.

WAITING PERIOD DEATH DUE TO NATURAL CAUSES Cover for death due to natural causes will be subject to a waiting period. The following waiting periods will apply for deaths that result from natural causes:

The Immediate Family Benefit options include cover for the Principal Life Assured, Spouse and Children. If the Immediate Family Benefit option is elected, then all members of the immediate family must be covered under the same option.

CONDITION FOR PAYMENT OF BENEFITSBurial Benefits will only be payable while cover is still in force.

Cover will cease when premiums are not paid within the Grace Period allowed for the payment of premiums that are due (see Premiums, Lapse and Grace Period)

BENEFICIARYSDM will pay the Burial Benefit to the nominated beneficiary. If that person is a minor, the money will be paid to their legal guardian. If the Policyholder did not nominate a beneficiary or the nominated beneficiary cannot be found, SDM will pay the money into the estate of the Policyholder/Principal Life Assured.
