On Friday March 24th my 20 year old daughter had surgery for a femoral hernia.?

She is now experiencing nausea and dizziness, but no fever so I do not think there is anyinfection. She is asthmatic and is experiencing some shortness of breath with wheezing whenbreathing out. I know that the anaesthetic can cause these side effects but shouldn't they begone 4 days later? She has been taking oxycodon pain killers but has not had any for over 24hours now. Her incisional pain is quite bad. I hate to run to the doctor or hospital for nothing. What does everyone else think? Thank you.I cannot reach my doctor at this time and would have to use the emergency department at ourlocal hospital. I am only hesitant to do this because I know that these can be side effects of theanaesthetic. I just don't know if they should be present 4 days later. I will try to reach my doctorsoffice tomorrow though. Thank you.

Honestly, its better you consult a specialist / family MD to find out what's best for your daugther.I really want to help but I don't think I can give better answers than specialist do. Sorry.

Good luck

My stomach has hurt me on and off thru out time but today just recently it has been killing meand or hurts on the lower right side in the low stomach kinda close to my waist area but still inthe stomach. It hurts like crazy and it hurts to urinate and to walk. It's also uncomfortable to sittindown....what should I do what could it be??

admin answers:

You could have appendicitis if it's on the Right lower quadrant of your abdomen and if it hurts tourinate it could be a bladder infection but that usually hurt spread across your lower pelvicregion. If it was a kidney infection or nephritis your kidney would hurt which would be located inthe flank region of the the back just behind the lower back ribs so I'm not too sure it would bethat. It could also be a small bowel obstruction or partial bowel obstruction. Try to remember ifyou have had a bowel movement recently. If it has been a few days and you had constipationalong with it you need to seek medical advice. Please don't take a bunch of laxatives becauseyou will cause intestinal spasms which hurt a lot. It could also be a femoral hernia from eitherlifting, bearing down while having a bowel movement, straining in general or weak tissue in thatregion in general allowing bowel to pull through the abdominal wall.

Now, if the pain is severe, and you have nausea, vomiting, no bowel movement for a few days(usually 5 days we need to find out why you haven't had one immediately), fever, not eating etcyou need to either seek medical advice. Try a urgent care clinic if you don't want to go to theER. If you can wait to see your doc then do that but don't pass it off as nothing.

If you press your lower right quadrant of your abdomen and you feel sharp pain radiating to yourleft lower quadrant it most likely is appendicitis and go to the ER or clinic immediately. You don'twant it to burst and cause peritonitis and sepsis.

Good luck!

admin answers:

A femoral hernia is the sticking out of a part of the intestine through a weakening in theabdominal wall near the thigh. The only way to know for sure is by being examined by yourhealth care provider.

Yes this can be just due to pressure on nerves and blood vessels. Pressure can come fromother things also as in pregnancy, some cyst or lump in lower abdomen or femoral hernia etc.
