Anne Griffiths, fromChildwall, still has decorationsfrom her own childhood in the1950s. She said: “Each yearanother one usually falls off thetree and gets smashed; they arereally fragile, coloured glassbaubles, which were my mums.”

To make up for the ones sheloses she replaces each onesparingly. “Rather than buy moredecorations every Christmas I tryto buy just one or two each year,”she said. “I found some beautifulchina decorations a few years agoin Cheshire Oaks and it’s started atradition in the family. Mydaughters also buy one each and soevery year our trees have an extradecoration, which has thought andmeaning attached to it.”

Jenny Hickson, who worksin financial literacy for CitizensAdvice in Garston, is currentlyplanning budgeting sessions forChristmas. Said Jenny: “Beingfrugal at Christmas is not aboutrestricting yourself, anddwelling on the things you can’tbuy. It’s more about beingcreative in the ways you giveand show how much you careabout your family and friends.”

Some of the ideas she has thoughtup and promotes during herChristmas sessions include:

� Filling as big a box as you canfind with blown up balloons. Asthey open the box differentcoloured balloons will pop outand hopefully provide an hourof fun (though probably betterfor younger children).

� Personalised emergency kits forfriends. This could be a pictureframe containing a voucher for amassage, facial or day out.

� Sitting down and working outyour budget over the next fourweeks, rather than buyingeverything in one go helps tofocus the mind on how muchyou realistically have to spendthis year.

� Saving money on the essentialscan free up money for fun things.Jenny even advises people to checktheir fuel suppliers and the tariffthey are on as soon as possible, incase there is any chance of savingmoney this month.

� Christmas shaped cookies andeven orange and lemon peelingscan look lovely on your tree andthey are really cheap to make.

� Unique selections to choose from

� Christmas tree farms help to sustain rural economy and provide jobs

� A tree is planted for each one harvested to ensure a steady supply each year

� Fresh scent

� They do not need to be watered and the needles will not drop off and make a mess in your house

� Artificial trees are easy to assemble and store away

Thewindows are treated tokeep the heat in, we haveloft insulation and acompost bin in the gardenas well as a water butt.

My sister has recentlyfollowed in my footstepsand purchased a Lovellhome in KensingtonSquare, Liverpool. Ourfriends and family havebeen impressed that wehave managed to get ourfoot on the property ladderwith such ease.

The home comes with a garden, whichwas pre-turfed and has a shed and awater butt. We were previously renting ahouse so we weren’t allowed to do anythingwith the garden but now that we’ve got ourown garden we cando all kind ofthings with itand haveBBQs.

half-Filipino, Yeovil-born singer has been in show business from a youngage, already singing the lead in hit West End musical The Lion King when

she was barely in her teens. The Saturdays with their sparklinglyfluorescent hyper-pop burst on the music scene in 2007 racking up five

smash-hit singles and a platinum debut album, and counting.

You’ve been very busy lately with a newalbum and preparing for the upcomingtour. Tell us a little more. Well, I’mchilling at home today! We’re keepingourselves very busy, we’ve got the newalbum out. We started working a year agoon it, we’re really excited - it’s quite a

personal album. We have all gone intogether; there is a strong vibe oftogetherness in the studio. The new albumis a lot sexier ranging from fierce pop toballads, it’s definitely a different moregrown up sound. It’s also a lot more RnBthan anything we’ve done before. What’s your favourite track on thealbum? My favourite song is Do What YouWant With Me; I went from hating it toloving it and now it’s my favourite. It has a

dubstep vibe to it, and I love what it says. Ilike listening to lots of old music and I loveBeyonce and Corinne Bailey Rae.Are you excited to be back in Liverpoolfor the UK tour? We’re coming toLiverpool early December, I feel likeeveryone will be great, there will be such agreat vibe. I’m always thrilled withLiverpool, it has the biggest cheerers.There’s nothing better than being on stage.There’s not going to be that much differentfrom the previous tour we did. How did The Saturdays get together?The band got together four years ago andwe never thought we would be here fouryears later. When I first auditioned for theband I was petrified to the point where mylegs were shaking! I almost ran off stage.We had a meeting about names andbecause Saturday is the best day of theweek and it looked like a popstar name itwas perfect. We travel a lot, and write ourmusic while on tour and do amazingroutines - it’s a dream come true. What do you do on your days off?
