Doing Business in Asia

companies grow their business transactions at various Asian countries, more attorneys are needed to handle transactions for companies doing business in Asia. This panel discussion is moderated by a female attorney who has extensive legal and business experiences in entity formation, commercial law, intellectual property, human resources and mergers and acquisitions in the Asian Pacific region. A foreign attorney, Caroline Berube is a serial entrepreneur with four successful start-ups under her belt at only age 30. The other panelists also boast extensive legal and business experiences in multiple countries in Asia.

CARE-GIVING FOR FAMILY MEMBERS: LEGAL ISSUES AND OTHER CHALLENGES

Please join the CBA/WBAI Joint Task Force on Women and Aging on

Thursday, January 21, at 12 noon at the CBA Building (321 S. Plymouth Court, Chicago) for a presentation by attorney Barry Kozak. Barry will discuss issues

that may arise when care-giving for a family member. The population of the United States is aging. We have no in home care-giving program in place. Thus, many of us have acted, or will act as care givers for senior family members. Many others of us are now, or at some point will be, the recipient of care-giving from a family member. Many of us provide legal, financial and other support services to individuals involved in family care-giving. Care-giving for a family member can be rewarding but it may also involve difficult situations which the caregiver, the recipient, and/or involved service providers do not anticipate until the situation arises. Barry will share some of the potential legal issues that may arise in situations where family members are acting as a caretakers, provide information on how the law has addressed those issues, and offer ideas for addressing those issues both before and after they actually arise. While Barry has a set agenda, this program is intended to be interactive, so please come prepared with your comments, questions and concerns about care-giving. Barry Kozak is the Supervising Attorney for the Law Offices of Barry Kozak, and serves as the President of Retirement HELP, Inc. (an educational and consulting firm). Barry holds academic appointments in the LLM in Estate Planning program at The John Marshall Law School and in the gerontology and elder law curriculum at Loyola University Chicago. Barry earned a Masters Degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, a Juris Doctor (JD) and Masters of Law (LLM) in Employee Benefits from The John Marshall Law School, Chicago, and a Bachelors Degree in Applied Statistics from the State University of New York at Albany. Barry has held many leadership positions in various organizations. With the Chicago Bar Association (CBA), he has served as chair of several substantive committees, and as a member of the CBA Board of Managers. He continues to serve on the CBA's internal finance committee and as a pro bono benefits counsel for CBA employees regarding their benefits.
