tumble dry another 5-10 minutes with a

lightly damp facecloth.

● For Flannelette sheets first wash

add approximately ½ cup of WHITE

vinegar to the final rinse, this will

soften the sheets and help remove

any lint.

● Pillows should be plumped often or

when making the bed daily.

● Synthetic/Fibre fill pillows should be

replaced every 1 ½ to 2 years and use a

pillow protector to avoid stains.

● Rotate the mattress topper weekly by

180° and air regularly always with the

small grid squares to the top.

WooL unDerLay’S

● Wool underlay fibres will bounce back

to their original springy appearance with

a vigorous shake or a light vacuum. toWeLS

● Wash towels separately, keeping

dark and light colours apart. For the first

wash of dark coloured towels, soak in

cold water and common salt to prevent

“bleeding” then put through normal wash.

● Fabric softener is not recommended, as it

leaves a fine residue reducing absorbency.

● A hot wash 40-60°c is recommended

every so often to deep clean the towels

and rejuvenate the fibres.

Lisa Rose & Sally Paterson have been

friends since varsity days and eight years

ago, decided to take the plunge & create

their own textile business, specialising

in quality children’s and teenagers bed

linen. They created Patersonrose and

What are the trends for 2012?

Strong colours, partnered with classic

design – rather than busy teeming.

There is a move away from frills

and busy textures, leaning to more

classic looks, but bringing in themes

& children’s passions with accessories

such as cushions and wall decals.

any advice for choosing a bedroom look?

Lisa says the biggest error people

make when re-decorating is choosing

their curtains first, and usually selecting

a patterned fabric. This then limits

all other décor options as patterned

curtains leave very few mix and match

options. Lisa and Sally suggest choosing

one or two key colours to focus on. Then

select the bedding and work the rest of

your décor outwards from the bed.

Sharron had a fun morning with the fashion team at Arthur Barnett picking out lingerie and clothes to suit her busy working lifestyle. Jackets, colourful tops and black pants were at the top of the list.

Some pampering at the Clarins counter with consultant Maria Duncan. Maria chose the new limited edition Autumn Colour Definition collection to create a glowing daytime look for Sharron.

Sharron chose a smart mix of designwear by David Carmody, Loobie’s Story and Jackie Peters for her final outfits. Boots by Nude completed the look. “Thanks to everyone involved who were just wonderful. The

Old fashioned rhubarb and oat slice• 1 kg rhubarb

• 1 cup caster sugar

• 1 cups flour

• 1 cups oats (rolled or wholegrain)

• cup brown sugar

• cup chopped walnuts

• 240g soft butter

Chop up rhubarb and sprinkle with caster

sugar on an oven tray and bake at 170°C

for 25 min. Combine all other ingredients

in a large mixing bowl and mix thoroughly.

Press about 2/3 of this mix into a slice

tray and bake at 180°C for 15 minutes.

Once golden remove from oven and

smooth your cooked rhubarb over the

base. Crumble remaining mixture over

the rhubarb and return to the oven (still at

180°C) for another 15 minutes.
