Make Hackney Sparkle is back and this year there’s even more things to see,
do and be part of.
The council, local business partners, community groups and famous fashion
designers have teamed up to decorate the borough and bring together a packed
seasonal programme of events and entertainment.
This is your guide to a Hackney Christmas. For further information,
announcements, and to find out more about things to do in Hackney,

THANK YOU!The council has raised more than £150,000 in private sponsorship to bring the Christmas lights
and trees to Hackney. Free resource from some of borough’s creative agencies has also helped
to deliver elements of Make Hackney Sparkle. You can see all our supporters on the back page.
#makehackneysparkleShare your Hackney Christmas pictures with us on
Twitter @lovehackney, or Facebook/destinationhackney. Instagram yourself beside the fashion trees or use Vine to
capture your fun and games in the Hackney sparkle.
HAcKNeY iN ligHTsHackney is now covered in a festive glow of colours after its new
Christmas lights and installations were officially switched on.
Generous financial contributions from partners and local
businesses have brought lights, decorations and interactive
surprises to some of Hackney’s busiest streets, including Hackney
Empire panto-themed installations along Mare Street.
A decorative highlight is the five Christmas trees, created by local
fashion talent, and standing proud in each of Hackney’s town
centres. Fashion designers were tasked with bringing magic,
sparkle and distinguishable style to the trees, which feature pom
poms, golden pineapples, rags, cherries and wild animals (not
real ones). The trees are located at Dalston Square, Hackney Town
Hall, Old Street in Shoreditch, Stoke Newington Church Street, and
Prince Edward Road in Hackney Wick.
